Most accurate watch you could ever ask for. The band is BIG. I’m a big guy and I had to get links taken out. Fits perfectly now. Watch updates itself every day, so time is amazingly accurate. It’s solar powered too so no battery worries. Great watch!

Rugged, good looking, manly watch. It was hard for me to find a reasonable priced watch that had all the functions I needed, without looking like a piece of plastic junk, or being so overpriced that I wouldn’t want to wear it everywhere. Well this was this perfect watch for this average no-frills guy.
I’ve been wearing it everyday for about a year, and never take it off. I swim laps with it, take it in the shower, work in the yard with it, hit the gym, you name it. It still looks great except for some very minor scratching on the band which I don’t even notice.
All of the functions are very easy to figure out, without consulting the manual. That’s a HUGE plus. I’ve had other watches where I didn’t use half the functions because it was too hard to figure out.
This has all the basics covered, 2 time zones, stopwatch, timer, alarm, and its all very easy to use. The light is great, and the alarm is actually loud enough to wake me up (maybe not if you’re a real heavy sleeper, but for average sleeper it should wake you up.)
I love that it’s solar charging and syncs with the atomic clock. It’s really a perfect watch in every way. Only thing I would add if possible would be a snooze button for the alarm, as I travel a lot and the alarm has saved me more than a few times when hotel alarm clocks didn’t go off. But I’ve never seen a watch with that, so no big deal. I’d give it more stars if I could!
If this one dies before I do, I’ll be buying the same one again. Hopefully they will still make this one then!

After losing a bidding war on a much older version of this watch, I started researching info on this newer version & decided that this was the Casio that I wanted to be my new watch. I went to a local store to check it out & was very pleased with it.
I already have the basic g-shock dw5600 that I bought here on Amazon a year ago to replace another DW-5600 that finally bit the dust after 15 years of very hard use.. This newest dw model is my 4th one in 40 years of owning these. 1st one I had for only 1 year before I decided to intentionally try to break it. That was rather hard to do until I got a 5lb. ballpeen hammer & set the watch on a concrete slab & then it finally broke.
I was so impressed with how rugged the watch was that I immediately rushed out & bought another one that lasted about 15 to 20 years.
But I wanted this MTG900 because I liked the ‘dressier’ looks for those times when I’m not at work. I also wanted the Atomic timekeeping function & the Solar function.
I had a cheap Solar Timex that I liked but died after only a year of light use.
So I’m extremely happy with this MTG900 which has everything that I want – solar, atomic, & looks very classy & is likely to last a very long time.
Don’t tell Amazon, but I actually STOLE it from them! I paid less for this watch here on Amazon than I paid for that cheap Timex!
I did that by using a small gift card balance & a combination of 2 or 3 Amazon special offers.
I read a lot of negative reviews on this watch that referred to things such as: the manual is so small it’s unreadable – all Casio manuals are like that, just go to their site & D/L a pdf manual.
Others said it wasn’t fully charged when they got it – mine was but that’s easily remedied by setting it near a window.
Some people complained that it came in a cheap, flimsy box – yeah, I agree that it wasn’t as nice as the box my other Casio had, but I didn’t buy this for the box, so no big deal!
Still others said it was hard to figure out the different settings on this watch – I only care initially that my watch keeps accurate time to begin with, I’ll learn the finer points as I go, just like I did with the dw5600 – again, either read the manual or just do a google search on this & you’ll find many articles & even several videos explaining the many functions of this.
A lot of reviewers mention that the band is way too big as it comes from the factory & I do agree that you do have to do some adjustments to make it fit. There’s a video that explains how to do it. And yes, it was a royal pain in the neck to do, but you should only have to suffer through it once & be done with it. I already had a little tool with different tips that I bought here to use when I switched out the dw5600 band for a more comfortable nylon one & that little tool was a real help in removing the links on this one.
That tool only costs five bucks & worked better for me than using a jeweler’s screwdriver.
So… to sum it all up, I really like this watch because: it’s very comfortable to wear, band does not pinch my skin like other metal bands – It looks better than the dw5600 – it’s very easy to read because of it’s rather plain face(something my old eyes really appreciate) – and lastly, the price was right (truth be told, even if I pd. regular price I’d still be happy).
If your looking for a nicer watch but still want something built to withstand a little abuse you can’t go wrong with this one!

I had my eye on this one after I regrettably sold my similarly designed G510 last year. I owned that watch for nearly 20 years and it never missed a beat. Apparently this MTG has also been in production for 20 years but had a refresh with a newer module about 7 years ago. It’s a fairly chunky watch at 46mm across and 16mm thick but these stainless steel bracelet versions wear small and are so comfortable on wrist. Some great features with multiband 6 and tough solar plus a clean display with large numbers and the usual stopwatch, timer alarms etc. The links between the case and bracelet look a bit mismatched in photos but are okay in the flesh. Most people like the squares but for me this is much better watch with the same features as a gw5610 and cheaper as well.
One bad point. This model doesn’t appear to have ever been released in the UK so Amazon US was the only option. For some reason budget Gshocks in the US come in flimsy cardboard boxes and it was shipped in a plastic bag for the 4000 mile trip. Unsurprisingly it arrived a bit battered but better than others I’ve had. Fortunately it’s a gshock so can withstand abuse but I would be hesitant to order a conventional watch from the US.
Overall this is a great digital watch that comes highly recommended. I’m not sure how much longer these will be produced so grab one while you can.

This is almost the perfect watch for me. The dial is legible. However, slightly better contrast of the dial and digits in dimmer lighting (without using the backlight) would have elevated this watch to another level. The MTGM900DA-8 feels solid and the timekeeping is flawless. It is one of the more attractive G Shocks. It goes with anything to wear other than black tie formal. The alarm chirps loud. All functions work as advertised. The band was easy to adjust. The band adjustment could be tricky, if you have not done this before. People with experience always say it’s easy. Just take a watch spring bar tool with the fork end (there is a smaller fork when unscrewed from the base. It flips over. Do not use the punch end of the spring bar tool) and pull the sping bar down in the direction of the arrows on the band. The link will drop off. Do this with a white towel underneath. If one of those spring bars get away, you may never find it. Be sure to use the small forked end of the spring bar tool (can purchase one on Amazon for about $2, I think). I have a number of watches, but wear this one practically everyday. This watch is not nearly as heavy as most of my watches, but it has weight and is solid. I feel confident with it on. It ticks to the second with the atomic clock. I set my other timepieces by this watch. I enjoy wearing it. The band does not rattle. The watch syncs on my night stand across the room from the window.
