CRZ YOGA Women’s Lightweight Mid Rise Hiking Shorts

The waistband of these is high and lightweight like a pair of leggings. The fabric of the shorts is a durable lightweight, quick dry fabric. They look like a dressier short, but are comfortable like a pair of leggings or running shorts I have bought more of them and several different colors.

I like these shorts overall. I bought them to wear swimming, but ended up wearing them yesterday during a race (as a spectator). The shorts fabric is lightweight compared to others I have purchased (specifically https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08CHB9Y9P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and although it was a very hot and humid day and I was a bit sweaty, these CRZ YOGA shorts stayed dry pretty well. They seem just a bit tighter than the Dasawamedh brand shorts in the size same.

The waistband makes them very comfortable–so happy to see that companies are starting to sell more of these. I like the zip pockets on the front too. I don’t quite get what the attached fabric patch is on the back waistband–is it for some sort of hydration tube? I don’t think a gel pouch or phone would stay there, as it is open on both ends. I’d rather have a zipped pocket there personally. I am beyond happy to find this style shorts without a liner, for several reasons: 1) it’s even harder to get shorts with liners to fit correctly and I have a hard enough time with fit; 2) shorts with liners take longer to dry; 3) for those of us who want to pack really light, shorts with liners are unnecessarily bulky and mean wasted packing space–if you’re taking just one small backpack to Europe, for example, you can pack lightweight mesh undergarments such as Ex Officio or Lapasa brands and wear them as a liner–they of course can be washed and worn as undergarments under other clothing as well. So I’m very glad to find decent shorts without liners.

The only thing I didn’t care for is a personal preference due to my body shape. I tend to gain weight more in my belly, less so in my hips and thighs, so these were a little looser in the thighs than I’d prefer. Don’t get me wrong–I definitely don’t care to wear a revealing yoga-style short, but the extra fabric tended to bunch and ride up when I was walking. There are hem slits on each side, which didn’t help in my case either. They are good shorts overall but as I spent yesterday tugging at my shorts all day, I’m going to keep looking.

Last comment is on the length. As I get older, I don’t want to be one of those women who try to dress like they’re teenagers, I just want things that work for me and are flattering, if possible. I had originally thought this inseam length was too short, but as my other shorts seem way too long, I gave them a try. I actually liked this inseam length and didn’t think it looked inappropriate for my age or body type or height (5’1″), especially since they’re designed to be worn for sportier occasions. They definitely looked longer on me than they look on the model.
