Just what I was looking for at a very affordable price.

Good part

It works. Nothing fancy, good price. Easy setup. What else do you need. Only had it about a month now, but no complaints. I was concerned at first because it’s very lightweight and one could say it feels cheap, but how can you argue with its success? I’d recommend it.
Mr. Pops –
Easy to install and works well.
Guillermo Sanchez Ortega –
El único inconveniente es que por ser muy pequeño los cables no dejan acomodarlo. No cuenta con ranuras para tornillos para fijarlo en un mueble o pared. Por todo lo demás cumple su función.

After running two long ethernet cables from my brother’s across my house to the living room to connect to my Playstation 3, I was able establish a hardwired connection and finally download and play without a problem. Except, the wire was not long enough to run in tandem with my wall to the PS3, rather i had to take the shortest route, like the hypotenuse of a triangle, to get my connection working. Second, I recently purchased a PS4, and WiiU, so in order to play online for any of those systems I would have to unplug, move the systems around and reestablish a connection to the ugly wired sore thumb in my living room.
This switch effectively killed multiple birds with one black stone. After arriving at my doorstep, I simply opened the box, plugged the ethernet cable from my brother’s room in, plugged 2 or so shorter ethernet cables in and connected those ethernet cables to the second and third consoles. The extra slack allowed me to secure the connection to the edge of the wall, reducing clutter and giving me a sense of relief, as well as providing a stable internet connection to my PS3, PS4, and WiiU (which did need a separate adapter). The sleek black finish meshed perfectly with my generally monochrome, but mostly all black everything aesthetic, and allowed the box and cables to melt into the background. It’s perfect at what it does and does what it does with easy and grace.

It was easy to install but a couple of my hardware wouldn’t work well with it and would disconnect constantly although they were to be on all the time such as a WAN signal expander
JK1320 –
Pretty basic, it works, it is small and lightweight. Half the price of Netgear, I have not compaired side by side, but why bother. It works, it does what it is supposed to and I really like the fact that the power and ethernets all plug into the back and the lights are on the front. Winner winner chicken dinner.

I was running out of ethernet ports from my router, so after reading the reviews on Amazon.com, I purchased this switch. There are 5 ports, but, of course, one is used to connect to the router, which leaves 4 ports for the other devices. It was easy to set up, and works great. It is small and quite light, but this hasn’t been a problem.
Greg Fridder –
What to say, it works for what you’d expect. Been in place for probably a month with no issues to date. The one thing to consider, I wish I had ordered the larger port model. Just a reminder, adding this to a 4 port router does no get you 5 more ports, only three due to the fact that this takes up one on the router, then one on the switch plus the device you’re likely removing from the router to plug this in, thanks!

It gets a 2 star for doing what it says it’ll do which is providing internet. However…since I’ve been using it I’ve been plagued with intermittent lag spikes also, it doesn’t hold ethernet cord well, they always fall out if you move it.

Dlink I’ve found over the years makes some really nice cheap switches that just work. Everything was plug and play and works great for my purposes. This is a Fast Ethernet switch which means its 100mbps but still works for a lot of devices, if you were connecting two computers with the intention of transferring files between them I would go with at least a 1gbps switch.
NYMinuteman –
This switch is the worst product I have ever purchased from D-link. It worked for a while, then stopped. It would work intermittently, and then quit again. Multiple support calls with D-link’s generally great tech supportD-Link DES-1005E 5-Port 10/100 Desktop Switch. Incredibly frustrating. This is the second time I’ve had the same problem with identical switches in two different locations. I’m a networking veteran, and I’m going to try an upgrade to a Netgear gigabit switch and see if that helps.
Uggggh, the hours I’ve wasted.
