I use this string instead of the packed third for a bit fatter sound. Replacing the solid string for a wound one isn’t for everyone, but I like the feel and sound better.

if your tired of hearing your guitar sound like a banjo or worse, try this string as your “G” string. An unwound “G” string is easy to bend, but the tone is horrible unless you are playing metal and then the nuances are sort of lost in the processes. If you are playing jazz or blues or anything where the notes ring out, it will become obvious to your ear very quickly that your “G” string is producing some odd sounds.
Easiest, best fix I’ve found is to change to a wound G string. This one works very well for me. I put it on a Les Paul and it sure helped. I tried this after adjusting the intonation, putting nut juice on the nut and bridge and lowering the strings, raising the strings and adjusting the truss rod. I could a saved myself a whole lot of work by just changing this string as the first step.

Its nickel wound so its got a great magnetic profile that works well with mag pickups and the nickel tone also sounds good on piezo pickups.
Its easy enough to bend – and its what guitars originally came with back in the cave man days of yore.

Once you get the mechanics of playing down, its all about the tone, and this will give you much better tone than an unwound string by about a light year. I wish they sold these in 10 packs – but thats about my only complaint.

Great string for a great tone. I’m relegating all my unwound 3rds to the dust bin, and switching over to these on all my electrics.

Bought this because of intonation problems with the ordinary G string on my electric guitar. Used these before and somehow there’s no problem with intonation, but does sound a little bit bassier than the steel G string but keeps the guitar sounding in tune when fretted at the lower frets. Definitely would recommend.

    Great Transaction!

    Only 4 stars.
Because for a single string, they’re pretty pricey at
    2-1/2 dollars each.

I was wanting .050″ single, but settled for .048″ because a single .050 is like 8 dollars!

D’Addario strings are some of the best in the business, and being able to get one string to create a custom set is great.

The string was imported over 18 months ago. Wound strings (bottom 3) would still be okay (as they do not rust easily), but avoid if if you are buying plain strings.
