After not playing bass for a few years, decided to give it a go again. Bass shipped 3 day. FedEx delivered it’s a Glarry box. It’s basically shipped in Styrofoam and a box. Opened it, found bass not damaged at all. Gave it a once over, everything looked fine. Plugged it in, electronics all work. Bass was almost in tune, the strings were intunated correctly, action looked good enough, neck was straight. Strings are a little “rough” feeling, but nothing to loose my cool over for the price. Sounds good. The B even sounds good thru a Fender Rumble 25. The bass overall doesn’t have a lot of weight, probably half of what a 5 string Fender would have.

The bad. So the A string isn’t perfectly centered in the neck, but pretty close. The bridge has a slight cant about 1/8″ closer on the B side than the G. The bridge has a few spots of tiny specks of rust (maybe?). There was some weird cream looking stuff on the back cover edges and around the pickup cavity (maybe polish compound).

Overall, very pleased with my sub $100 bass guitar. Is it a Fender or a Sire? Nope, but it’s good enough for a beginner.

If the bridge was straight, it would have been 5 stars.

So far I’m only 20 minutes into this thing and have to give this an easy 5 stars based on bang for the buck. I’ve been a guitarist for 25 years and want to start tracking some bass here soon, so I’m not exactly an “experienced bassist” but know my way around a guitar. I only played this through a small Boss practice amp (Katana AiR – so not spec’d fully for a bass) so this is purely based on fit/finish/feel and not really the tone.

Pros: nice neck shape, very playable intonation/action out of the box, great packaging (full foam insert in the box), hardware feels relatively solid and the sound should be more than enough to get scratch tracks/random noodling.

Cons: fretboard will need conditioning, fret ends will need dressing (but better than some guitars I’ve played), strings feel to be quite cheap, big neck dive versus the light body and the overall output of the pickups seems low (could just be my amp).

This won’t be anyone’s top shelf instrument, but upgrading the hardware, electronics and string would likely land this in a solid backup/spare/I need a 5 string for a gig type slot. Really excited to see what I can get out of it into Logic via my HX Stomp + how much I can improve the feel. Great project bass!

I don’t know if the two companies are connected somehow, but the branding on my instrument actually says Glarry. This is one of the cheapest 5 string basses out there, but the sound I get from it is quite good. There is no fret buzz on my instrument because the curvature of the neck is just right. I only had to do a slight adjustment to the action to suit my playing needs. For a beginner trying to learn the bass, this is an excellent first purchase. The pickups and tuners on the bass I bought are updated from the basic 5 string. I’ve noticed a more even, fuller tone compared to my 4 string bass by Ktaxon.

I have to say that i was quite skeptic about buying a bass online, but the reviews that mention this bass are quite on par. This 5 string Glarry bass did not dissapoint. It arrived in a timely manner and was well packaged. It came with a minor chip on the headstock, (not sure how cause the packaging was not damaged) hardly noticeable. I have to say that it was almost perfectly intonated … i only had to slightly adjust the A bridge. And i really love how light it is compared to my other basses. If you want a low priced bass, this is the one you should consider. The carry bag is trash and the strap is very low quality, as mentioned also in other reviews. So i ‘m giving this product a 4+ stars. Well done Glarry, but try to examine these a little better before shipping them out. It costed you a star.

Came in perfect condition. The wood on the bass looks nice, with good grain matching at wood joints so as they were barely noticeable. The body is finished with high gloss and looks really nice. I see this toning down with regular use, Which I think I’ll prefer. The curvature of the body is comfortable against the body and the bass itself is light and easy to hold. The neck appears to be unfinished/unsealed maple, and is smooth enough while offering a bit of friction for hold. I much prefer it to a sticky poly neck.

Intonation was easily dialed in via the adjustable bridge, and string height was near appropriate. Only have had a J/P pickup setup prior, so I was surprised at how quiet it was initially. Raising the pickups to appropriate height increased output considerably, but I don’t feel like these pickups have much in the way of higher frequencies. The lows, however, are full and wicked and the low B and D string BOOM bass. I think I’ll try to locate another pickup for presence in higher tones to pair with one of these humbuckers.

I can’t believe how great a value this bass is though, and couldn’t recommend it more.

I didn’t know what to expect for the price but it is great. Light weight almost half the weight of my 4 string. sounds great was good to play right out of the box just tune it up and start playing.
