The reel and rod are just fine but the line comes with it is really of poor quality. It tangled easily and broke the first time we were at the lake and the practice cast plug was gone. Disappointing.

I was very pleased with the weight and quality of this pole and it is a nice item for the price. Our niece (age 5) was right between the age range from this pole and the toddler pole one size down, so we opted for this one so she can enjoy it for many summers. It fits her well and she finds it easy to use.

Overall this could have been a setup. The reel works fine, size is good for kids. I do wish there was a dedicated place to stow the hook. But the quality of the line makes it an unusable frustration. The line is spun in such a way that as soon as it’s not under tension it coils together and tangles. Since it’s cheap quality line that tangle is nearly impossible to fix requiring it to be cut out. Problem is, now you’ve exposed a new section of tangle crazy line so the process repeats. You get what you pay for I suppose, my daughter fell in love with the look of this thing being her first rod. Makes it hard to exchange, so now I’m stuck putting new line on it instead of fishing with my daughter.
