ZUGU CASE Case For iPad Pro 11 (M4) 2024

I did not pre-order, because you never know how a new product is going to be. To be honest, I was worried about how Zugu would handle the thinner form factor.

But this case has surpassed my expectations. I have had this case for years on my old 2018 iPP. The key improvements and issues include:

The opener tab is much more sturdy than in years past. Historically it was weak and tended to fray and weaken over time.
The tab also has a recessed fit into the case when closed, which provides for a solid feel and als a nice thumb rest when using the ipad with it open.
The fit is really perfect, all the way around – not just the cutouts, but everything is clean and solid. The buttons work just fine.
The Apple pencil well is deeper than in years previous, and also allows for the pencil to fit in either way. However, I am still dubious about keeping it magnetically mounted when traveling.
The “sleeve” for the pencil on the back is sturdy, but I think still the same material as previous versions. Over the course of a couple of years, I expect that it will loosen a bit. It is not ideal for the pencil to be in a pouch on the back, as it doesn’t allow the the case to lay flat on a table (on that side). However, the geometry of the case is well designed, so that when open and in “tent mode”, that side of the tablet is never face down.
The USB C charging / data port has a nice cutout that will accept wider cables.

Overall, this case is worth the money and I have tried many cases over the years. I always come back to this one.

Over the years my husband I have had 4 Zugu cases. Just bought my 5th for the 2024 iPad. There are lots of reviews saying the quality is not as good. That’s just not true. What is true is that iPads have gotten thinner making the case thinner. It may seem slightly more flimsy than the older ones for thicker iPads but it’s just not. The rubber is not as stiff. I actually like that. But again that seems to be mostly due to the fact that the case is thinner.
It fits the iPad very well. Very tight. The magnets are great. It’s the perfect protection for everyday wear and tear.
It’s an excellent case. Would highly recommend.

Ich habe mir diese Hülle als Ergänzung zum Smart Cover von Apple bestellt um eine Hülle für besseren Schutz und stabileren Stand in der aufrechten Position zu haben. Diese Rezension ist nur ein erster Eindruck, da ich die Hülle bisher erst 2 Tage in Verwendung habe.

Schaut man bei Youtube erfährt man einige Dinge über die Version für das M4 iPad Pro nicht, die ich hier erwähnen möchte. Zum einen fühlt sich die Hülle gut an, die Oberfläche ist wie Leder strukturiert und angenehm weich. Wie robust die Hülle hinsichtlich Flüssigkeiten ist wird sich erst noch zeigen. Die Kanten der Hülle sind rund und die Ausschnitte sind exakt. Das iPad macht in der Hülle auf mich einen sehr wertig Eindruck und ich bin recht kritisch was das angeht. Der Deckel der Hülle schließt magnetisch und durch eine kleine Vertiefung an der Seite in dem ein kleiner Ausschnitt des Deckels zu liegen kommt verrutscht der Deckel im geschlossenen Zustand nicht.

Bei Youtube wurde kritisiert, dass vorherige Versionen ein Fleece auch im Deckel hatten was diese Hülle nicht hat. Es wurde geschlussfolgert, dass das Display leichter zerkratzt mit der aktuellen Version. Die Oberfläche der Deckelinnenseite ist kein Fleece aber trotzdem ziemlich weich. Ich sehe hier den Vorteil, dass man die Hülle auch auf Stoff (wie z.B. auf dem Sofa) gut verschieben kann was mit einem Fleece-Innenfutter nicht möglich ist.

Bei so einer Hülle sind die Winkel auch immer ein Thema: der flachste Winkel ist deutlich höher als die flache Stellung bei üblichen Trifold-Hüllen. Ich schreibe trotzdem bequem auf dem iPad – wenn man allerdings mehr als nur PDFs annotiert (also doch insgesamt relativ wenig oder mehr als nur mal zwischendurch kurz schreibt) dann wäre dieser Winkel zu steil für mich.

Die magnetische Sicherung der einzelnen Winkel im Deckel ist auch in der flachsten Stellung stark genug um relativ kräftigen Druck beim Schreiben auszuhalten.

Das iPad wird durch die Hülle deutlich schwerer. Normalerweise stört mich auch das. Insgesamt sieht das Paket aber trotzdem gut aus, sodass ich die Hülle ungeachtet davon weiterempfehle. Sie ist aus meiner Sicht “preiswert” (also ihren hohen Preis wert).

First I love that it is not the standard black or gray case. Mine is Berry/Purple. One of the best features is that there are two ways to store Apple Pencil Pro. Once open the viewing angles are great and stand does not slip. The stand is very stable. I purchased a different case to hold me over until this case came out, and the stand worked but was harder to use and was not stable at all.
