After attempting to figure out why I kept getting a message “only playback possible during use power supply”. So, if you want to use this to livestream or if you’re a teacher and want to use this with your online classes just attach the USB cable that’s sticking out of the right side by the power light to a USB cable and then use the AC from Sony – only the ones from Sony work. This will keep your camera powered. In the secret door to the left behind the screen door is where you find the HDMI input port. Purchase a HDMI cable that has a mini HDMI and a full size HDMI male plugs. After that I got an adapter ” A USB Video Capture ” external device. This system fired right up. It took time to figure it out. Works Great. Frustrating, though to go all through this.

This was a gift for a middle-school-er. She was able to start using it right away. The videos are very clear and the stabilizer keep things from bouncing around as she panned over everything. The grip and screen make the camera easy to use and she had the menus down in very little time. The videos displayed directly from the camera to the HD TV easily. Individual pictures are equally good. This is a very good value for someone who wants videos more than individual shots.

I’m really amazed at how much they can put into such a lightweight camera these days. I have owned several Sony camcorders over the years. This one isn’t my favorite but it’s damn nice. The manual lens cover works fine (my other opens automaticly) and it turns on and off by opening and closing the view screen (no independent on/off switch or viewfinder). I knew that when I bought it so I was ready for that. I used it for my nephew’s wedding and the footage looks great. I installed the app and it’s great. It gives the capability to zoom in and out and, if you have up to six working together, you could control them all. There’s a live broadcast feature I didn’t use but should be great too. This is a good alternative to the more expensive GoPro IF you aren’t wearing it. It’s extremely light and seems cheap but works very well for me.

Great video camera only downfall is its quite fuzzy or Pixelated during the evening and night. Daytime video is decent for the price you’re paying. The sound quality is there for sure.

Bought this to replace an earlier Sony HD digital camcorder. Love the small size. Accepts microSD cards to record. Does have a built-in memory (8 GB), which is enough for a little over an hour of HD recording, but I recommend getting a card (32GB or 64GB) so you don’t worry about space. Microphone is surprisingly good in a camera this small, but if you really care about sound you will need a different way to record it as this camera does not have a microphone jack.
There are a lot of good things about this camera. The picture is good, the USB cable is attached so you don’t lose it, and it’s very easy to carry and use. However, I just have a couple gripes that prevented a full five stars. First, night shots are decent but not great. Recording outside is great, and recording inside in well-lighted conditions is also great, but inside with low light is not. I know this isn’t a high-end camera, but that feature has been around for years, so it could easily have been included. Also, you cannot make video recording adjustments on the fly. That is, if the circumstances change (say, from bright daylight to overcast or from outdoors to indoors), you have to stop recording to make any changes in the settings. Maybe it’s a “safety” feature, but I don’t like it. Also, the camera defaults to internal memory for recording even with a card inserted. The camera will switch over to the card while recording automatically, but your video will suffer.
Great HD camcorder on a budget, but people who need great sound or low-light video should look elsewhere.

I bought this for my fifth graders at an elementary school to do live morning announcements, We have had a Pansonic camcorder since 2002. It hooks up to a school wide system so that the announcements can be seen in the classrooms on their Smart Boards. The Panasonic has been slowly dying. I purchased this camcorder. The picture is really good on it but it does not pick up sound! You can not hear the children talking! I spoke with Sony and they finally admitted that it could not do live streaming. I could record it and play it through the system. This would not work because sometimes we get last minute announcements that come in. How disappointing! The library at my school gives us no funds for this. I used some of my Book Fair money! I bought it in April and some people in our school system have been trying to help me. Finally it was decided to return the camcorder and look for another one. I can not because the time has run out as of May 18!! I am telling everyone in our school system and our parents to never buy anything from Sony.
