So far (3 months) no failures at all running 24/7 in a Camera Recording operation. They do run a little hot but only 3-5° from a 5400 rpm drive I have.

First of all, THESE ARE SAS DRIVES. If you don’t know what SAS is don’t buy these drives. That’s not intended to insult anyone but most people shopping on Amazon are typical PC users and can’t use SAS drives. The connections look the same as SATA but they are not and will not work with a SATA controller which is what almost everyone reading this will have. Negative reviews because people bought something without reading and understanding the clearly listed specs is disingenuous and petty.
These are intended to be bought in large quantities and run in an array as most SAS drives are. I bought 18 of them and they’ve been running in a NAS for several months without any problems under constant 24/7 access. They were packaged very well in professional packaging designed for shipping bulk hard drives and each firmly sealed in antistatic bags. I ran full diagnostics on each one (as anyone buying any HDD should) and they were free of SMART errors and had surprisingly low usage hours. Most were less than 5000 hours, which is very, very low for these type of drives. For comparison my older NAS drives are sitting at around 200,000 hours and that’s not even exceptionally high.
The cost per TiB on these in a ZFS RAID configuration is outstanding and when setup correctly you’ll have plenty of space, performance, and fault tolerance (unless you run RAID 0). They also have a much lower running temp than many other drives which will help extend the life of your entire setup.
If any part of this review didn’t make sense, please don’t buy these drives. You’ll just be upset. They’re not targeting typical home users but are intended for NAS, JBODs, servers, and other drive array devices.

It works reasonable well and I have it as a backup drive in case one of our hard drives fail.

Drives are new( unused ) and perform as expected.
I order a lot of hard drives. Unfortunately I have ordered 3 sets of hard drives from Amazon in the last 3 months that came used with over 30,000 hours on them. So now I check EVERY hard drive. These all tested with 0 hours in use and 0 Stop/start count.
I would highly recommend you test any drives you receive as there is rash of used hds coming off lease making there way onto Amazon and being sold as new. Thee are a number of free utilities you can download that read the smartinfo on the hds.

A few month in with this drive and I’m very happy. Hopefully it doesn’t have the insane failure rate Seagates have, ha-ha who am I kidding I’m sure it doesn’t. I’m impressed with how cool this drive runs compares to my other drives.

Totally my fault. Did not notice it was SAS. Completely unfamiliar. I haven’t tried to return since I opened package and it was my fault for being careless. It doesn’t work in any of my usb3 docks, so (at least for now) it is useless. No idea how wonderful it might be.
