So far toaster does what it should. The bagel setting and cancel are handy to have. The lever to raise toast that is small only raises the toast a small amount, wish it could be higher.

This is a terrific toaster. I had one for many years and only replaced it because I have celiac and must remove every gluten crumb from my life. I sadly sent my old one to the second hand store but know that someone will be thrilled to find an excellent toaster. If you want a well made product that will last, this is your toaster.

El alambre del aparato está corto, con 40 CMS, más estaría excelente.
Lo bueno es que está bonito, tiene buen tamaño, su charola de limpieza está muy adecuado, y si caben los bagels en las amplias ranuras de tostado.

This is my second Cuisinart 2-slice toaster. I got a new one only because the other one was old and dirty looking and I just wanted a new clean one. I had the other one for at least fifteen years. The new one is working just as well as the old one and I’m looking forward to another fifteen years of great use.

I purchased this after returning a retro toaster that wasn’t made very well. Cuisinart makes good products and this toaster is no exception. It is easy to use, toasts bread or thicker bagels. I’ve been very happy with it.

My trusty toaster of many years finally died. Over the course of the past six months, I tried to replace it with another toaster and two toaster ovens, none of which was able to produce a decent piece of toast. Fortunately, upon doing more research, I happened upon this Cuisinart toaster. I simply love it. It’s easy to use, with all functions easily visible on the front of the toaster. The pull-out crumb tray is easy to access. The cord is long enough such that if one uses the toaster under upper kitchen cabinets, it can be temporarily pulled forward. What I liked as much as the toaster itself was the accompanying instruction booklet, which was very explicit and well-written. When following the suggestions for the temperature and timing of the item to be toasted, depending on the type of bread, whether it’s frozen, etc., this toaster produces a perfectly toasted item each time. In addition to all of this, the toaster is attractive enough to leave on the countertop in plain sight. I am extremely happy with my new toaster!

The main issue with the modern toaster is achieving even toasting on both sides of your bread. Believe what you read in the reviews: most toasters struggle to provide even toasting, usually resulting in scorching one side and barely browning the other at regular settings.

We recently thought to replace our 22 year-old Cuisinart 2-slice toaster that has worked perfectly and has always produced evenly-browned toast. The older Cuisinart has that classic, chrome toaster design (think 1950’s) with solid controls, but we thought a more modern, brushed stainless toaster would look nicer with our other newer appliances. We first tried out the latest 2-slice Cuisinart toaster (CPT-160). It looks nice but feels cheap with its loose temperature knob and wobbly toast lever. Worse, it can’t produce a uniform piece of toast to save its life, unless you prefer to have only one side of your toast done the way you want it.

Looking through all the reviews of major brand toasters, uneven toasting is the most common complaint. So, what is it about the modern toaster that makes its primary function so difficult to achieve? The problem with most modern toasters is this: In order to design lighter-weight, lower-cost toasters, the bread slots have been made narrower, placing the heating elements closer to the toast. Perhaps this is an attempt to speed up the toasting process for impatient consumers but it has unpredictable results. Case in point: the distance between heating elements on our 22 year-old Cuisinart CPT-70 toaster is 2.5-inches per slot and it produces perfect toast every time with any kind of bread. The new Cuisinart (similar in low-cost design as most modern toasters) has a reduced 2.1-inch spacing and cannot produce even toasting on both sides of the bread. The whole concept of toasting is for radiant heat (as opposed to direct contact) to brown the surface of the bread. If the radiating elements are too close to the toast, the heating is more intense and the browning process is unpredictable. Compared to classic toasters from decades ago, this “new, improved” reduced spacing is why modern toasters struggle to perform their simple job. The problem is aggravated by breads of different types and moisture content –which is why the “gentler” toasting provided by wider heating element spacing is more successful.

Not satisfied with the CPT-160, we tried the Calphalon 2-slice Intellicrisp toaster.? It has wider heating element spacing similar to our old Cuisinart and does produce more evenly-toasted bread than other modern toasters. In addition, the controls on the Calphalon have a good quality feel. The temperature control has a unique design and a countdown timer. However, the Calphalon also has slightly deeper toasting slots than most toasters and this results in the toaster being over 8-inches tall, at least an inch taller than other toasters. Its boxy, rectangular design looks more massive than its dimensions would suggest. The darker grey color only emphasizes its large size. Unfortunately, this massive “box” did not look good in our smaller kitchen. If you have a larger kitchen with plenty of counter space, the Calphalon should look fine and will likely provide you the best toasting performance among competitors.

The Calphalon is about $20 more expensive than similar mainstream toasters but it is worth it for good toasting performance and I recommend it highly above competitive toasters. In the end, the Calphalon was too big for our liking so we’re sticking with our 22 year-old Cuisinart which is simply a better design than most modern toasters, including even the latest from Cuisinart.

I have had MANY Cuisinart items in my home for years and have enjoyed the consistent quality of their product. This time, not so much.

I wanted a simple 2-slot toaster that my teenagers could use before heading off to school in the morning. I purchased this unit because of the name, look, simple controls, and good price point for a name I knew.

It lives up to everything except it’s job. Even on the darkest settings and selecting bagel (a little under 8 minutes), barely toasted bread. I tried all the settings, different types of bread (English muffins in the pic), and even switched outlets to make sure it was not a power thing. Nothing worked. I believe the culprit is a half-working heating element. You can see the dark spots in the toaster in the pics.

Unfortunately friends, this as tested toaster should not be one of your options for your kitchen. It will frustrate you as you wait, peering into the orange glow for an eternity while you hold your to-go cup of coffee, car keys, and phone, only to have two slices of bread appear almost as doughy as they were when you took them from the bag…just warmer.

I’d love to get my money back, but the toaster already has those ‘already been used’ stains at the bottom. Just like new shoes worn outside, non-returnable.

I love toast but it’s not complicated for me so I like how simple this toaster is. Toasts bagels perfectly on the bagel setting. The darkest setting never seems to be long enough for English muffins so I just push down again for more time. Only reason this gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because the manufacturing seems to be a bit cheaper over the years. We bought this exact model almost 4 years ago and the lever and spring mechanism was more solid. This new one works well but feels a bit fragile. Our cat broke the last one by the way (don’t ask) or we’d still have it.
