Always a fan of this brand. My last two lasted years with daily and double daily use!
Blend, smoothies and milkshake mode work perfectly. Would have preferred a glass container but this one is good.

Update 3: Changed my review to 1.5 stars. The replacement they sent me performs worse than the original. I can tell it doesn’t have as much power and is less noisy. I noticed my smoothies were a lot chunkier. After using it for a few months I can’t make a proper smoothie anymore. I typically blend the greens first by themselves before adding the frozen fruit. Even after blending the greens for like 2 mins on high it’s still chunky. And it can’t handle thick liquids. After adding the frozen stuff it ALWAYS kicks the liquids up the sides of the pitcher every half second which makes it impossible to get a thorough blend. I’m returning this but in the meantime I bought a CleanBlend blender and that makes excellent smoothies. I gave an extra .5 star because I really do like the look and design of this but it fails as a blender.
Update 2: Oster did promptly send a replacement so kudos to them for that. They sent me a gray colored one instead of the blue which doesn’t look as good but whatever. I also discovered you can tighten the base even more if you turn it from the inside circle after tightening from the outside rim. When you can’t tighten it anymore by twisting the outer rim, use your fingers and twist the inside circle part. Be careful though you can overtighten it and have trouble removing the base afterwards.
Update:
The blender has started leaking from the bottom everytime I use it now. I’ve tightened the base as much as I can and the gasket is seated properly but it still leaks. I’ve only had it for two months. I thought about changing the rating to two stars because I like the style and it’s easy to use and clean but those things are useless if the blender leaks. That’s a failure in my book so I’m changing the rating to one star. I may raise it depending on how Oster’s customer service handles this but this is really unacceptable and makes me not want to buy Oster again.
Original review:
Amazon doesn’t allow half-stars so I’m rounding down instead of up b/c I think it’s a decent blender but has some potential issues. I’m giving it 3.5 stars.
The blender looks very sleek and modern with a touch style panel. I’ve never owned a touch style blender before so I don’t know how durable the panel will be but the controls respond reliably when touching. Cleaning the panel is very simple, you just wipe it off with a damp cloth. No need to worry about cleaning buttons or around button crevices which is nice. It’s an attractive looking blender.
The pitcher is very large but also light because it’s plastic. Plenty of room to make drinks for multiple people. It has a wide boxy shape which I heard is not ideal because it makes it more likely to cause aeration when blending, which this blender does. Aerating will make your smoothies come out thinner and more bubbly instead of thick and creamy.
So how does it perform? Like I said, it’s alright. I’ve only done smoothies and salsa so far. Salsa is easy because most people don’t need to completely liquify it. Smoothies take a lot more work though. I made a green smoothie with kale and frozen fruit. Kale is very fibrous and is a good test for a blender and frozen fruit requires a lot of power to break up. If I use the Smoothie setting which blends for like one minute it won’t come close to blending it thoroughly. You’ll have huge chunks of greens and fruit in your drink. It takes like 2-4 mins of blending on high speed to make it pretty smooth. It is a bit bubbly because of the aeration thing but it’s a decent smoothie.
A good tip to get it smoother is to blend the greens and liquid first until it’s well blended. Then add your hard/frozen ingredients. This makes it easier to pulverize the greens more thoroughly. I find the Salsa setting is better than Smoothie setting for preventing the greens from getting stuck as it reverses the blade direction quicker than Smoothie setting. After all the ingredients have been lowered into the blades I switch to med/high setting. The blender handle ices and frozen fruit well. But the greens and other fibrous vegetables require extra effort. It says it can do hot blending but I didn’t test that or nut butter. Honestly I wouldn’t try making nut butter in a cheaper blender. You really need a high powered one for that.
I don’t like that the base model without the food processor has an 1100 watt motor but the one with a food processor has a 1200 watt one. 100 extra watts is not going to be an earth shattering difference so trying to entice us with a 1200 watt one and gimping the base model by 100 hundred watts is dumb.
I also wish it would tell us the continous wattage that is used instead of peak wattage. Peak wattage is misleading because that typically measures the highest amount of watts in the first split second when it’s turned on. I guarantee this blender does not use 1100 watts continuously. The continuous wattage will always be lower than peak and is the real measurement when the blender is in use. I don’t have a wattage meter so I can’t say but it has enough power for frozen fruit and tough greens, given enough blending time.
Cleaning the blender is not as easy as it seems. You can do the technique where you fill the pitcher up halfway with warm water and add a drop of dish soap to it and then blend on high for 30-60 sec. and that will clean almost all of it. But afterward when I unscrewed the blade assembly I noticed there was some green liquid on the outer edge of the gasket that’s not visible unless you take off the blade assembly. So you will need to remove the blade assembly once in awhile and clean the gasket to get it fully clean.
But you need to make sure to screw the blade assembly to the pitcher base very tightly in order to prevent leaking. Like really tight. As tight as you can go.
The blender is fairly loud on high as most blenders are, but not deafening like my last blender (a cheap GE blender from walmart). I can stand next to it without having to cover my ears which I appreciated. On low & medium the blender is surprisingly quiet.
This blender is basically the same as other cheap Oster blenders. It has around the same power. It’s capable of making a decent smoothie but it takes awhile to blend, especially if using tough greens. If you’re worried about plastic, consider getting the Oster Pro 1200 instead because that has a glass pitcher and doesn’t have the square shape. I got this on sale for $70 and wouldn’t pay more than that. The Oster Pro 1200 also goes on sale for that much.

It leaks all the time. Even if you make sure that the bottom part is well tight. Not ok

Today i opened the blender i ordered from Amazon UK. To my surprise it turned out to be American standard plug and designed for 110V and 60Hz instead of Bitan standard 230/250V and 50Hz. My question is, can I use the appliance directly on the UK mains or do I need to buy an additional device to convert 230/250V 50Hz to 110V and 60Hz? For this reason I give a bad rating – 1 star!

Es muy bonito y los materiales se siente muy bien pero el táctil no es tan sensible a veces tienes que tocar más de una ves porque no responde y no se siente que tenga los 1100 w parece como una licuadora normal
