I have been using my Mirro Pressure Cooker, 22 Quart for decades. I started with a “used” one. It lasted and lasted. I just recently needed to replace it for a newer one. (I repurposed it) I have never had a problem with my jars not sealing. It’s simply made but I don’t need bells and whistles when canning, I’ve got enough work to to, just getting my food put into my jars.

I have been canning for many years and have been using the 16 qt Presto brand which has been dependable and performed very well. I would have bought the Presto again but they only offer th dial gauge option, but I prefer the weighted gauge so I reluctantly went with this less expensive, very basic canner. I am super impressed with the performance. I have used it twice since getting it last week. Easy to use, has all the instructions needed, heats quickly, holds heat at steady temp without a lot of adjusting, all jars have sealed and virtually no siphoning (chicken stock). The only issue is that the regulator has to be pushed onto the stem rather forcefully to get it seated properly – two “pops” to the correct position.

I was really impressed with the value for this canner. I have only used it twice now, but it really seems sturdy and gets the job done just like the more expensive models. It doesn’t have the pressure reading valve, but you can tell it’s up to pressure by the weight, since it steams out a little. The weight doesn’t “dance” like some other pressure canners, but I don’t mind that. For the value, this is an amazing addition to my kitchen arsenal.

J’aime bien ce produit pour la conservation. Je suis déçu de ne pas avoir reçu la version française du manuel d’utilisation. Seulement anglais et Espagnol alors que la livraison ce faisait au Québec, Canada.

Canners are hard to come by these days, and I originally had my sights set on an All American…I did not know when/if I would be able to get my hands on one, so I bought the 22qt Mirro canner, and then later bought the 16qt. This was my first experience canning, as I was very hesitant because of all the horror stories I’ve read about. The 22qt has a rack for stacking, but the 16qt does not, however, even the 16qt size can fit 7 quart size jars (the pots are the same size in diameter but the 16qt is shorter). So far, I have canned spaghetti sauce, chili, chicken thighs, chicken breast, corn, potatoes, chicken soup, navy beans, kidney beans, and sweet potatoes. Turns out canning is relatively easy and no cause for concern as long as you pay attention. In conclusion, both units work great with no issues to note, AND they are very nice looking.

I have had a Mirro Pressure Canner for over 40 years but felt it was time for a new one. My old canner had a great instruction book. I keep it for the new canner as the new instruction book is not very helpful. First it shows canning green beans at 15 psi where the old book says 10 psi so I emailed the Extension Agency here. They show 10 psi for green beans just as I have always done. When I canned at 15 psi, some of the jars lost a lot of liquid.
The instruction book shows cooking times for meat, fish, and vegetables but not for pressure canning in jars. When I called they said that would be for a recipe so it was not in the book. Then why is the cooking time there for meat, fish, and vegetables? You just need to know these things because the manual will not tell you.
Overall I like the use of the canner. Once I get the hang of it, I think it will be fine. Youtube videos were very helpful.
