Got these on sale, and can say based on the sale price that they were worth every penny. You will need another device with a mic or controller of some sort to use the music reactive settings. They’re extremely bright, easy to use on the app, and are great indoors and outdoors.

This is a great product with great value for the money you spend! I have purchased 3 sets of these – 1 for outdoor use at my home, and 2 for indoor use where I work. The two sets that I use on a display at work have worked great since they arrived! I love the amount of control I have over the colors and the brightness, and the different presets in the app are cool!
The one I have outside was working great too, but about a month ago, one of the lights stopped working properly. At first it wouldn’t turn on at all, then it WOULD turn on, but it would slowly and dimly flash random colors. I went onto the app, found the support page, and described the issue I was having. Within a day their customer service replied back in the app, asked for a video of the issue, and requested my shipping info to send me a replacement. Within hours of me sending the info, they replied that they were shipping out a new one!
Upon further inspection of the cords after removing it from my yard, it looks like an animal chewed through the cord attached to the malfunctioning light. When I get the replacement lights that they send I will make sure to conceal the cords better so no pests get to them.

These lights are perfect for a halloween or christmas yard display, and are easy to both assemble and disassemble. I just wish the LEDs were a bit brighter as the light doesn’t super far, so you don’t want to place these too far away from whatever you want to light up.

Mounted these to my deck to provide light after dark, also linked to home assistant and working with my unifi cameras to work as security lights, they can get very bright at full brightness! Very happy with purchase. Make sure you get them on sale, which happens often.

I use these in my studio to light up my bookshelf for my podcast and studio aesthetics. The cords are a little cumbersome, but the lights work well in small areas. I love the adjustments you can make and the app control. Nice to tell Alexa to turn on my studio, and all of my Govee lights flip on as I walk in. Perfect for streamers, reviewers, video guys/gals, podcasters, etc… You can spray some light on any surface, or backlight a scene easily. They hold up for many hours of use and have never let me down.

This is my second attempt for outdoor lighting for the front of the house. The first, a different product, failed within a couple weeks and wasn’t as bright.
The Govee floods, definately an improvement. Super bright, decent APP for controlling them (like all lighting apps, takes a bit of a learning curve to figure it all out… everyone is different), solid construction.
Only issue had, wanted them to go on and off with the SUNSET/SUNRISE… that changes as the weeks progress. The only setting I could find was a “timer” feature where I had to set the hours/min… which again, changes throughout the year. I like, set it, and forget it!! The APP knows where the lights are located, so it should be able to get the changing times from the internet or calculate them… automatically.
I was able, although, to link it to IFTTT and use THAT to control the sunrise/sunset turning on/off… and that is based off of a “looked up” time… which does exactly what we would like.

The TLDR is for the price it is hard to beat, the software is janky and a few dumb design decisions really limit the product’s potential.
Update 1 month of use: One of the lights filled with water (see pictures). The whole light is glued together and the front translucent window that the light shines through leaked. I don’t know if I broke the adhesive by squeezing the front face adjusting the light or if it was a factory defect but I had a spare from a second set. There are cheap lights so be careful handling them.
The Good:
– The price point is great for these units. The build quality seems decent and the light output quality is good.
The Bad:
The app is janky, here is why
– The prebuilt scenes don’t have an effects speed or effects fade setting. The majority of the scenes have abrupt color changes that are very distracting on the eyes. If you want to use this for ambient lighting in an outdoor space you are stuck making a custom “DIY” scene
– If you want to set the lights to a predefined color with no effects there is a relative brightness slider that does not make sense as there are two sliders. A “brightness” slider and “relative brightness” slider
– The color wheel selection does not let you enter a RGB value or a hex value. This would be a welcome addition
– The app has an Govee advertisements all over the place which makes it feel “cheap” as very made in China
The Stupid:
– The lights and cable are weather proof but the power adapter and controller are not. I would rather they charge a few bucks more and the power adapter and controller be weatherproof. I had to buy an outdoor weatherproof box to put them in. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09NLW5HMX
– The lights are on waterproof connectors but no extension cables are sold by Groove and the connectors are not an easy standard to find to make your own. If you want to place a light further than the cord length well you are screwed. This is particularly frustrating as often the wall outlet does not line up in the beginning of the chain. It would be such an easy fix for Groove to sell an extension cable as an accessory. I cut the wire on a light and soldered in a 22AWG 4 conductor extension cable. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B945PQ34
There is a max signal length between the LEDs as they use a WS2811 chip serial driver before signal integrity issues become a problem so that may be why they do not sell extension cables. Either way extending the cable about 6 feet was not an issue for me.
Other Data:
– You can order a larger set with more lights than needed and disconnect lights you don’t need at the end of the set. It works fine if you disconnect the lights starting at the end of the set only. If you disconnect the lights at the beginning of the set it does not work. Each light has a data signal in and out signal so you must only remove lights starting at the end of the chain.
– The lights use WS2811 driver chips which is a standard driver chip for RGB LED strips and it was a good idea by Govee to use low cost “off the shelf” parts. They are using this driver for the warm and cool white LEDs as well so you wouldn’t be able to easily drive these lights with a standard WS2811 controller if you wanted to as the Govve controller knows the location of each white LED in the chain to correctly command the color.
