All the options were the decision maker to purchase this slow cooker. The insert is incredibly non-stick, the sauté option works very well and the timer feature is also a plus. However, I have a large family and I wish it larger. I cannot make the amount of soup or stew I would usually make. This is a disappointment.

I’ve only used the Slow Cooker function so far, but it does a great job. It has a good sized capacity for a family of four. It appears to be sturdy and well made so far.

After burning Alton Brown’s crock pot lasagna in my craptastic

    Crock-Pot 3850-W 5-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker, White

, it was time to get something new. I can’t be the only person who sets up something to cook in the morning and doesn’t come back for 11 hours. (Alton does recommend using an old school manual Crock Pot with a power-cutting timer, but I was concerned about the lasagna getting into the danger zone [<140 degrees] for too long. The time function on that model Crock is very limited.)

This product is sheer genius. I love being able to brown things in it. All that brown goodness that sticks to the pan stays in your food. I can lift the pan (not a heavy clay crock) with one hand and scrape stuff out with the other hand.

The time and temperature settings are totally customizable. I slow cooked a 3-pound pork shoulder (Crocknitas/Pulled pork) for 4 1/2 hours then it switched to warm. It turned out great when I pulled it out after 8 hours.

I also made a quick soup, starting with browning ground beef, drained it (one handed), added veggies and stock, in about an hour total using the brown/saute/manual temperature settings.

    Other Pros:

Lid fits well enough that it doesn’t lose a lot of liquid in slow cooker mode.

Keeps my kitchen cooler in the heat.

    It’s easy to clean.

4-quart size (there are only three of us).

November 2014 Update: The control pad is not attached as well to the front as it should be. It means I have to REALLY PRESS HARD to get the buttons to work at times. The little housing around the control pad has a big chip out on the edge. However, I am not sure that someone in my household did not drop it to cause the damage (no one is owning up to it). That said, it still cooks pretty well. When it gives up the ghost, I will purchase another one.

I was kind of worry about spending so much on a cooking appliance. I read as much as I could find about it, but most folks bought the less expensive kind so there wasn’t much reviews to go on. I took a leap of faith for those who took the time to put in their perspective and took the plunge.

I have had this over a week and already cooked like 4 meals on it. LOVE, LOVE the BROWNING feature. Just that part alone was well worth it. It was easy to heat up, and brown like its suppose to. Afterward, I put whatever vegetables goes in and brown that too. Next it was as simple as returning the meat back in to cook on SLOWCOOK mode.

The next thing that I alo LOVE is the pot itself. It’s nonstick (yes, you have to be a little more gentle and careful when putting any kind of tools into the pot so as not to scratch the coating), but the ease of cleaning is easy, and the WEIGHT of the pot is soo light (which is extremely helpful as I am currently having problem with some hand pain issue). The only negatives is the learning curve involved and that is on me. I’m use to ceramic crockpot type slow cooker’s higher heat setting, so on the first batch it was not enough time. The second batch, too watery. The third batch too over cook, the 4th batch receipe issue. I’m sure I’ll keep on trying, but for all my faults, it still did what it’s suppose to (plus the food was quite good) only issue is operator inexperience in this type if cooking.

By the way, I thought the 6qt would be too big for 2 people, but I like to put extra veggies so the size actually is perfect. The warming feature was awesome — on the regular crockpots the warm setting was sometimes still to high, but on this the food stay at an edible temperature. Now there is some things to keep in mind, it does take time to heat to desire temperature, and definitely don’t open the lid too often or else the temperature does not remain constant. You’ll have to learn (for newbes like me) to adjust time and temperature when cooking. Just because the receipe said to cook for this amount of time may not work because this Cuisinart can also cook by temperature setting also. I’m very please to get this, and just hope that it will at least last a couple of years. I think it’s funny when I read people’s reviews about how after 3 years or so their pot dies etc. If this slow cooker will last almost that long from being used it was well worth it in this electronic age.

With the browning feature that seamlessly turns to slow cooker. This is a real time and mess saver. One unit does it all. Great addition.

Wonderful product. Do everything in one pot, sauté, brown, steam, slow cook. Had another product. No comparison.
What is bothersome is the price point to order from the US.

We used to sear our roasts in a separate pan before cooking, serve our meal and store leftovers in separate containers, now we can do everything all in one. It’s also MUCH bigger than our old Cock Pot from the 1970’s. I doubt this one will last that long, but I love it so far !!

We purchased one of these in 2015 and it still works great. Just purchased a second one this year as we sometimes need two for big family gatherings. Cuisinart continues to make a solid product that does the job (temp controls, and timers are all accurate). I would like to see an option to order a replacement cooking pot for our original. It’s still in good shape after hundreds of meals served, but the nonstick has a few scratches due to standard use over the years. I’ll just say you can’t go wrong with the MSC-600. It’s outlasted our other slow cookers.

This slow cooker has multiple functions, which makes things easier and cuts down on kitchen products needed. One of my favorites is the brown/saute option. Instead of having to use a skillet to brown meat before starting to slow cook, I simply brown it right in the cooker, then start the cooking function. I also appreciate the low and high options, just in case I find myself with less time than I expected before I need to serve dinner. The various functions are simple to use. The insert is lightweight, so I can fill it with items straight from my counter, then carry the insert to the slow cooker. The non-stick surface cleans like a dream, whether I handwash (most often) or occasionally place it in the dishwasher.
