I bought this feeder because we have some flying squirrels that can get into the feeder overnight and were eating all the bird seed. As you can see in the pictures we do have them up a telescopic flag pole, as we have black bears in our area which lovebird seed.. However the Flying Squirrels were able to climb up the pole. I’ve had them up for a few days now and the birds seem to like it just fine. They are pretty easy to fill. They seem sturdy and well made. I’ll see how they hold up in the Florida Sun but for now I am going to leave a five-star review.

One of three new feeders I bought for my mom. The birds just love this one, with the perches to feed at. This is absolutely squirrel proof and the metal caging allows the birds to land there and wait for the feeder perch. It makes for a busy feeding stop but I can tell the birds just love this one.

I was mildly concerned to read that some folks mentioned in their reviews that they had difficulties attracting birds to this feeder. No such problem here – there were birds (chickadees, house finches, and goldfinches) using it before I even got back to the back door.
Feeder seems solid and sturdy, also is attractive and holds plenty of bird seed. Time will tell if it’s easy to clean. Time will also tell if the squirrels are stymied, though I am optimistic!

I got this to replace a cheap rusty bird feeder. Wanted something that looked nicer. Have had it for a year now and I can tell you definitively that the birds WILL NOT eat out of this thing, no matter what I do. Tried varying the location, putting better food in this one. Nope, birds don’t like it. The openings are so small, I have not seen a single bird get food out of it. One time I saw SEVEN birds clustered at the old rusty feeder, one attempted to get food out of the new feeder, then gave up and just waited it’s turn at the old feeder instead. That’s when I knew there’s just no hope for this thing. Looks so pretty, I really wish it would have worked.

Edit: I tried removing the other bird feeder altogether and I’m seeing more birds try to use it now, so I’m adding one star. It’s also pretty squirrel proof, and given that birds may actually use it, I’ll add one more star. But, I still believe birds don’t like how small the openings are. You would get more success with a different feeder. If you’re having major squirrel issues, this might be a good pick tho.

I don’t know what’s wrong with those who said their birds wouldn’t use it – it sounds like a personal problem – because my birds took to it in minutes. Now they’re lining up to feed from every port.

I like the aesthetics of the design, but that’s subjective, it happens to suit our house and personal style (a lot more than most bird feeders, which tend towards the twee). The one thing I’d change is the access hatch, which needs to be laboriously unscrewed in order to refill it, and has a very narrow opening when you do. Refilling is messier and more time-consuming than it needs to be. Also the bird silhouette decorations, they don’t add anything (and again, twee).

This feeder is sturdy and does what it intends to do in terms of hiding feeding ports when weight is applied, but it has a major design flaw in that it is difficult to re-fill. The bolt which holds the roof on (and provides access to re-fill the seeds) is also connected to the floor of the feeder and BOTH ends rotate. Usually the top on freezes, making the bottom one rotate easier, which causes the floor to drop out and any remaining seeds to spill everywhere and the whole thing to have to be re-assembled. Possibly some light spot-welding on the bottom of the bolt would fix the problem. I would not purchase again. The anti-squirrel features are out-weighed by the re-filling design flaws.

It us heavily constructed and the weights works great. However, baby squirrels must be very smart, they hang upside down from top and still get their little feet inside. 🤷‍♀️. Waiting for a dome, hoping that works to deter. Miss my birds.

We replaced a very old squirrel proof feeder with this one. It looks great, keeps the seed dry, and so far, keeps the squirrels and the annoying raccoon that lives nearby out. Just as we hoped. The only surprise is It’s not quite as popular with the birds as the old one was, I think because the old feeder sloshed seed around so much the birds could empty it in a day. This one only allows a bird to get one or two seeds at a time. The seeds last a long time, but I think the birds don’t want to work quite that hard….since it’s warm, they have lots of food sources. I suspect they will be all over this one in the cooler time of year.

Purchased in the hope to discourage squirrels it worked, Purchased to encourage birds has been in the garden for two weeks still full of seed as no birds will feed from it, not sure what is wrong but definitely the birds along with myself are not happy.

So I bought this feeder in April along with 4 other models to try out. Within 2 months, 3 of the models were destroyed by the local squirrels. A month after that another one went. This was still sanding strong. I bought 2 more models to try out as I wanted a larger, longer feeder for bigger birds. Well, both of those models were gone after 3 days.

This feeder has withstood months of squirrel beatings and survived. The metal top that is screwed down rather than tied to the caged spring mechanism I think is the key. Most of the other models I tried also had the spring cage outside that triggers by weight, but the lids became accessible when the weight was triggered. Squirrels figured out real quick that if they sit on the cage, the lid can be peeled up. This one doesn’t have that.

I do with that it had a larger version so I could have bigger birds available to it. Right now with the way this is laid out and with the size the only birds that can really interact with the feed are goldfinches, small sparrows, and chickadees. I’ve had a couple of cardinals attempt with varying degrees of success but its definitely not easy for them.

Overall, I really like this feeder and very much attribute that to the metal screw top lid. Gunna def buy another one.
