My poor Leopard Gecko has been having a bout of poor shedding around the head and eyes, at first i didn’t think the product was working, but I had given it another go, but this time being a bit more vigorous with the cotton bud and came off a treat. At first i was being far too gentle on the dry skin, not wanting to cause discomfort and pain.

A top product any reptile keep should have in a drawer in case of poor shedding, was a little expensive but you can’t put a price on your pets

I can not express how good this product is , my bearded dragon was having a tough time shedding and was getting very grumpy about it , I found this stuff and although these would only stay in the bath for 10 minutes instead of the recommended 20 on the instructions it has still worked to perfection , she has now successfully shed her tail and legs and head , it’s just now the body and even that is coming off with ease , if your thinking about getting this then we’ll stop thinking and just get the price tag is more than fair , you just simple mix it with water easy peasy.

6/6/24 I just used this for the first time today, not sure how well it works yet. I will update later. This is the only reason for 3 stars right now.

I wish it had been clearer in the description that this is a concentrate bath instead of a spray, which was what I was looking for, however, this can also be diluted and used as a light shed spray as long as it is diluted according to directions. As a shed bath – it’s intended directions – it is wonderful and does indeed help your reptile in the shedding process, more specifically, any reptile you can give a short bath to (10-15 minutes in luke warm water), such as a snake, gecko, or iguana. I recommend using either bottled/distilled water if possible to reduce the amount of heavy metals and chlorine from tap water. If you have filtered water that’s great, but tap water would be more detrimental to your reptile. When used properly with filtered or non-tap water, produces brilliant resulted and a very clean, well shed reptile.

TIPS: It helps if you add a clean (boiled then cooled) rough rock of appropriate size into the bath water, it will help your reptile aid in shedding by letting the reptile rub up against the rock. Also, if you continually have problems with your reptile shedding, you should likely increase the humidity in the enclosure as well as ensuring your reptile is getting enough water and is well hydrated. Again, one should never, ever use tap water with reptiles, especially since they drink from their water and gain humidity from water. Heavy metals, chemicals, and lots of chlorine and chloramines are present in tap water. If you ONLY have tap water in an emergency you can use a de-chlorinator such as Repti-Safe, which will remove chlorine and chloramines as well as some of the chemicals, however it can not remove heavy metals and many others toxins in tap water, which is why distilled water, filtered water (obviously the better the filter the better the water), bottled water, or purified water. Finally, to aid in shedding and to increase humidity for your reptile while adding a wonderful effect, I use this product with a reptile fogger, specifically the Blue Spotted Deep Jungle Reptile Fogger which works great for our reptile rescue:

Deep Jungle Fogger, Advanced Humidifying Fogger For Reptiles & Amphibians In Terrariums & Aquariums! Provides Essential Moisture & humidity For The Well-being Of Your Pet Reptile and Amphibians!

but a fogger increases humidity in a more effective way than most of the misters on the market!)

In conclusion, the Zilla Reptile Shed-Ease Bath is a great product to help your reptile if it is having problems shedding properly, in conjunction with a healthy diet, plenty of hydration (water), appropriate humidity levels for your reptile (if you aren’t sure what you need for your reptile, Google your reptile species with the words “Care Sheet” and read at LEAST five care sheets and go with the ones that are the least commercial and the ones that all agree with each other and have common information), and regular cleaning of your reptile’s habitat. Be sure to treat the underlying issue before treating the symptoms, so if your reptile needs a higher humidity, then you need to increase humidity in the habitat before jumping to shed treatments.

IMPORTANT: Also, if the shedding issue continues, eye caps are stuck, or the reptile’s cloaca is covered by shed and unable to evacuate — or the bad shed is accompanied by respiratory symptoms such as runny nose, runny eyes, or any significant change in health — PLEASE TAKE YOUR REPTILE TO A VET IMMEDIATELY! Even if you can not afford a vet, or do not have a local reptile vet, take the vet to the best place you can, and use Google or the phone book to locate several veterinarians in your area, call and explain your problem, and ask for advice. Advice is free and they may be able to refer you to someone who can help.

Great product from a reputable brand!

It arrived in the delivery box with no cap, just the bottle with the protection tab lol. My wife is going to need to use a new bottle or something for this.

This helps all my reptiles with their stubborn stuck shed. I don’t use it for every bath but it encourages any stuck shed to slide off like butter. Highly recommend

My husband uses this stuff all the time, it’s his go to for helping our reptile babies when they’re having a hard time getting their sheds off. It usually works great! Easy to use just following the instructions on the bottle.

I’d used the product before but never ordered online before. Unfortunately the one time I order online, the bottle I’m sent has leaked everywhere! In fact, the cap wasn’t even on the bottle and when I tried to put it back on, it won’t stay on at all. The bottle is only around half full at best which is gutting. No option to ask for a refund, only return, but not sure I can send back a leaking bottle really! 🙈

Seemed to be very relaxing, soothing to the skin and really helped us to get the skin to shed completely. We had some difficult sheds leaving a pile up of layers on the face and eyes. The eye cups are the real concern, because he can’t see well. We put him in a short tote, large enough for his entire body to be submerged comfortably. Using comfortably warm water, we soaked the snake for 25 minutes, and dripped the solution on his head causing him to go underwater ever time we did that. It was a good trick to keep re-wetting the eyes to loosen the skin. After the soak period and a lot of massaging the entire snake to make sure he was totally wet, held him for a while. He was so relaxed he let me shed his face and I was able to peel the eye cups off, and he didn’t move. So, success. I’ll soak him again and see if there is more lift, there could be another layer. The solution seemed to be very soothing and comforting to the snake. He settled into the tote and relaxed for the soak.

I’ll order again, and given the ongoing issue we have had with shedding, we’ll probably do this at least once a month. We’ll do the soak again in a few days, this time though.

5 stars. Really helpful and his skin looks great.
