If you do not have a WPS button on your router, the alternate connection instructions are incomprehensible.
And, searching the D-Link web site for a AC1200, DAP-1620 Wi Fi Range Extender will yield no results.
I believe D-Link have discontinued this model, and no longer support it.

Very difficult to set up because I was provided incorrect name and initial password and tech support isn’t available

It seemed easy enough to install though much of the instructions had to be downloaded from the Internet, but I couldn’t get the unit to work at all. It would not reset to factory defaults no matter what I did. I called tech support, who said the item was discontinued (got it as a refurb through Amazon), so they couldn’t officially help me, but the guy did give me pointers, which was very nice.

If your looking to extend your current WiFi signal then this is the unit you want. Setup is a snap and no more dead areas.

This is an older model with last firmware update in 2017. Its security is weaker using WPA/WPA2 (TKIP). When I set this as my WiFi network my Apple iPad said it is not considered secure and that WPA (AES) or WPA3 is more secure. Maybe this will not be a problem if you don’t live a congested area and don’t worry about someone hacking into your network. Also its speed is less than newer models but may be sufficient for your devices. It’s a good price if these issues do not matter.
