Easy to install and sounded great

I’ve been using D’Adarrio strings on my bass ukelele for long time and have had no issues with them. I just decided I wanted to go with black strings instead of the white ones. These strings make it easier to install because they are pre knotted and ready to go. Another plus is they don’t have the stickiness of other strings.

Sie Saiten spielen sich super. DIe weißen original Saiten machten einen etwas klebrigen Eindruck, deshalb habe ich mir die Aquila Strings 140U gekauft. Ich bin damit sehr zufrieden nix schnarrt. Am Anfang muss man die Saiten täglich nachstimmen, ist aber normal, nach ein paar Tagen halten sie die Stimmlage immer besser.
Würde ich wieder kaufen!

These strings were a big improvement over those on the instrument when I purchased. Not because those were old, but they were not as high quality. The sound is rich and full.

I bought these ThunderBlacks for a Kala solid body ubass (chinese, not californian). I had put Thunder brown strings on it, because I like them on my Kala acoustic ubass. Unfortunately Thunder brown strings did not suit the solid body bass, and intonation on the E string was terrible. So I bought these Thunder blacks, and though half the price, they intonate much better. Something to do with them being thicker?
They also have a much softer sound and than the Thunder browns, which are higher tension and more zingy. I still like the Thunder browns on the acoustic. Which is just as well as I now have spare set.

I believed all the reviews that these strings were superior to the original Kala strings. They’re exactly the same. It took well over an hour to install the D string alone because it was too big for the hole in the tuner and kept popping out. They stretch so much that they have to be cut short of the tuners, then there’s the issue of it being difficult to stay in place. After that they stretched so much that to get them in tune they have to wind about four times around the post to the point of wrapping around the string itself—even after cutting them short. This deadens the sound.
My 8 year old son summed it up best when he asked why I was changing the old ones to these and they were supposed to be better. “Gullible,” he said. He was right. Don’t waste your money.

I read where these are now std equipment of the Kala uBass such as the Spalted Maple Acoustic Model, I purchased a set for my Kala uBass S.U.B. solid body bass ( no longer made) and they made a VAST IMPROVEMENT. In tone, in tuning stability, attack, and overall bass tone. So much so, I ordered a 2nd set as a backup for my other Kala uBasses.

I’ll start by saying that these strings come pre-knotted. I play a Donner DUB-1 which does not have an access panel. That means I have to cut the knot off, fish it into the bridge and out the soundhole, then tie a new knot. That’s not a big deal since they stretch enough to still wind up and still had excess to cut off. Coming with washers was a nice touch. They sounded good almost immediately. While tuning up they rattled far less than the white Nylguts. What a great first impression!
