This food immediately stopped the vomiting of my four cats, ages ranging 7-10 years old. That alone makes Blue Buffalo worth the price, but there’s other benefits too. They been eating Blue Buffalo for two months now. They’re so much more active, like they’re five years younger! Even when they’re not playing, they’re so much more alert than they used to be. Their muscle tone is better and their poops are less smelly.
They seem to like the taste; the first time I put it in their bowls they dug in without hesitation. They eat less of it than they did the other brand, believe it or not. I think it’s because it’s more satisfying to them than the other was. The smell of the food is kind of strong when I open the bag, but i just try not to stick my face too close to the bag when I’m feeding them, and it doesn’t stink up the house or anything, so i can live with it.
Their coats are magnificent now; shiny and sleek, silky, with much less shedding and no flaky dandruff! The bald patches on their feet are filling in nicely too. That may be a combination of finally having good quality food and a bath with Zymox Shampoo and Conditioner.
I will continue to buy Blue Buffalo for my cats. I have also tried them on the duck and potato, and they’ll eat it but seem much fonder of the turkey and potato.

Unfortunately, my cats don’t seem to like any of the Blue products I’ve bought and had them try. They only eat the Sensitive Stomach one in the pink bag. That’s it. All the other products I tried, they won’t eat. This includes different wet food flavours and other dry food flavours. I’ve tried their Freedom Grain Free, their Basics Limited, their Wilderness products, etc. I think Blue has good cat food, but my cats don’t think so. I guess I have picky eating cats. I still buy the Sensitive Stomach because one of my cats need it, but they all seem to like that ONE; so it has become their main dry food product. I’ve had to switch to another wet food brand they like. Took several other brands to go through to find one they’ll eat, but I finally found one.

I’ve had cats my whole life & used maybe 4 kinds of dry food before this with our current rescue cat (PLEASE RESCUE! “Mutts” are the best, plus of course saving their innocent lives! I’m not sure if we’re supposed to name competitors’ brands. My best cat ever had the stinkiest poops ever that you could smell from other rooms! She also had a lot of diarrhea & pooping outside the box. Yuck. As advised by the brand to gradually introduce the new food, although without specific details, I did a several step process of ratios with small amounts of the new & lots of the previous, increasing the amount of the new one to a 4 to 1 ration of new to old & think I will go 100% new when the contianer is empty. I suggest a 4-cup measuring cup if you have one to make it easier to figure out the ratios, plus it’s easier to pour into the container I use. I stir it & shake it several times hoping for a good mix. The only faults I can find are that it is quite expensive compared to most stores’ brands, but our furries are rather like our children, so worth it. The only other minus is that it contains chicken & meal which the other $$ brands claimed were a no-no, but after reading a zillion reviews I got this & happy so far. No more stink (I use G*rf**** flecks of corn as litter as many others make me cough), & the other 2 issues are rare. If helpful, my cat is 11 even though she still acts like a kitten-plus. Mrrowprrt!

Until we tried this food, my 6 year old cat was constipated and had huge poops. He would not poop for days then poop outside the box and then pee. The vet checked everything, told me it was behavioral, and recommended prozac. After 3 months, he now has normal sized poop, no constipation, and he has not pooped or peed outside the box in the past 2 months. Both of my cats love the food and are doing great.

I normally buy the regular Blue Buffalo food for my cat but she started having bad gas, smelly poops and throwing up. I don’t know if she ate something bad or was under the weather but it persisted so I bought her this food and ever since I switched, all her symptoms have stopped. She didn’t eat as much at first. I’m going to assume that it tastes more bland then the regular food, but she eats it like normal now and her tummy is happy, so I am happy.

My one cat was vomiting most dry food’s, just a little to start but so far no problems. It’s going to be wonderful to be able to feed both the same food.

I noticed that the pictures that had been posted showing the difference between Blue Basics bought on Amazon vs. other pet stores, but thought I’d give it a chance since that review was posted more than a year ago.

    Left side = Petco.
    Right side = Amazon.

Color: The biggest difference, Amazon’s being a lighter brown than the food bought at Petco.
Ingredients: I looked at both bags, all the same ingredients in the same order.
Freshness: Petco’s best by date is Oct 2020, Amazon’s best by date is Aug 2021. Amazon sent a fresher bag, and could explain the color difference.
Flavor: I left this one for the cats. I left 2 bowls out, one with Petco’s and one with Amazon’s. ALL 6 CATS went for the Amazon-bought food, after smelling and looking at both option.

I think we have a winner!

Now, the real reason I bought this food, is because one of our black cats is allergic to chicken. She used to puke almost immediately after ingesting anything with chicken in it. We’ve tried several brands (and not the cheap stuff). Wellness Core, Merrick’s, etc. to name a few. On top of that, we had 5 other cats to please, but none liked them… Until we tried Blue Basics (Adult Turkey and Potato).

All cats love it, no one gets sick, they have very healthy coats and are very happy cats. Well worth the money.

(Side note: we also feed them the same brand and flavor, but the wet pate version of it first thing in the morning, as our sensitive cat’s stomach is most sensitive in the morning. It’s been just over a week since the switch and there has been no accidents other than the occasional furballs 🙂 )
