Used this tent for a couple of weeks in the mountains and it performed flawlessly. 30km – 50km/hr winds no problem. One night, 6-7 inches of wet snow and didn’t even effect the tent at all. Very fast to set set up alone, ( approx 4-6 minutes, not including staking out the vestibules or guy out points ). Love the ability to stand up and move around. Lots of venting if needed and the Buddy heater worked amazing in keeping it warm on those cold nights, ( 1 degree celsius ). Also, it was nice to dry the wet clothes inside using the cord loops. No condensation inside the tent. All of it went out to the inside of the fly. Made my own floor protector using the built in buckles and a heavy duty tarp from Princess Auto. I sold my Cabela’s XWT 4 person tent and bought this instead just for the ease of set up. Not as strong, but overall, a great design with an excellent size for the campground tenting spots. Descent zippers and tough materials too. My only complaint would be, reaching down to the back of the vestibule to unzip it. It would be nice if it had a two way zipper. Can’t go wrong with this tent for the price unless your expecting hurricane force winds! Cheers.

It’s comfortably tall so no need to crouch down when inside. I tried to set it up by myself before using on a camp site as recommended, but failed. The problem could be the height of the person attempting to set it up. You might need assistance from a 2nd person. I also noticed, as did another customer, “The support poles are VERY long and it’s not at all evident that they can bend”. The fabric looks and feels sturdy. The other feature that would be great to have on this 4 person model is the sleeves that the support poles are fed through (like the 6 person model has). I want to know what kind of seam sealant and water proofing solutions are appropriate for this tent. Any tent will leak over time if not properly maintained. I might change my review once I actually use the tent on a fishing trip in Minnesota and North Dakota.

Love this tent! Easy to set up, roomy, and great features. The fly covers the entire tent to keep it dry. The windows and doors, combined with the roof vent keep it relatively cool on sunny days. No problems with stitching or attach points. The fly blends in so as not to be too obtrusive in the woods. Great tent. No for backpacking of course, its a bit on the heavy side, but that’s ok, as it is a 4 person tent. My wife and I use it for just us. This gives us plenty of space. Fits a Queen size air mattress with tons of extra space for gear. The pegs are aluminum, and hold OK, but I will be changing those out for heavier steel stakes, just a personal preference.

I have been remiss in not writing a review about this tent. I have lived in this tent for 6 weeks, plan to continue to live in it for another 8 weeks, and I am loving my life more than I ever have! I have this tent mounted on top of a utility trailer, exposed to all the elements in the wettest, windiest March I remember in Las Vegas in the last 10 years. Temperatures have been in the low 30⁰s with 50 mph wind gusts, and I have been snug and comfortable in my tent. The tent is both wind and waterproof in driving rain (I did also spray it with water repellent before setting it up full time. The straight wall design allows me to stand up all over inside the tent making it feel super roomy. I have an extra long, wide, and tall twin cot and an IKEA chair and footstool in the tent for a snug place in inclement weather. The low placement of windows along the side of the tent and the vent in the roof cool the tent during hot days. It sets up in minutes, even by myself if I stake it down first. The zippers are super durable. I am extremely pleased with the comfort, durability, and ease of this tent, and if it ever dies, I will buy the exact same tent to replace it.

This is an excellent quality tent…I’m very happy with it! My wife and I used it on a camping trip and found it to be very comfortable! Undoubtedly, this was due to the good air circulation provided by the zip-open roof vent and zip-open side panels! The full fly provided excellent protection from the rain! The centre height is 6 feet but, when installed, the storage net reduces the height by 6-8 inches. It fit both of us very well but a third person would have been under-foot. When initially received, I bent a pole by not watching what I was doing. I contacted the company and they sent another pole immediately free of charge! If I had to suggest any improvements at all, I would like to see it 1 foot wider and 1 foot higher. But, those items aside, I recommend this tent very highly!

First weekend using Browning Glacier 4 tent went really well and tent performed great. Only pointer I’d give is that the 2 aluminum poles ‘bend’ once assembled to form shape of a dome….once I figured that out it went up lickety split. No rain to deal with so can’t say how it performs in severe weather but am confident it would be fine – very solid structure and full fly provided privacy and protection if needed. Brought two extendable hiking poles (not included) to hold up the vestibule awning. Good sized interior for two cots pushed together and gear under the cots leaving space to move around. Highly recommend.
FOLLOW UP: After a summer of using tent more than a half dozen times I’d have to recommend it even more highly. Endured several high windstorms and heavy rain downpours during different camping excursions and tent was always stable and interior generally stayed dry. Some droplets got in once when I had an electrical extension cord running into tent through door zipper and some moisture seemed to travel along it and inside. Another time I forgot to close rear vestibule at night (Note to self: There are TWO vestibules and doors! Don’t forget the back one if you just use front one haha) and some sideways rain drenched the backside of tent material not protected by rainfly but again, only small puddle formed inside.
Able to put up or tear down in less than 10 minutes solo now – really like this tent! Now if only Amazon Canada could get rights to sell the Browning Glacier Extreme 6 Person Tent (10×10) from Sportsmans Warehouse up here in Canada I’d purchase that one too!

Super easy to put up – 15 minutes out of the box by myself. Appears to be well designed and made, I checked the seams, zippers grommets etc and they were all; well made, integrated and sturdy. the lower vents for air are clever. The inside can be wide open for air or totally sealed off .

Im taking this to Burning Man with all its environmental demands including high winds, dust, heat and dust storms. I will post a follow on how the tent performed up when I return.

2019: OK – 2 trips to Burning Man with this tent here is a follow up report. Notwithstanding the dust, wind, heat and rough use it has held together well with no rips or tears even in bad windstorms. The zippers gummed up with the dust but thats to be expected. I was able to clean them. Very very hot inside during the day so I wont be taking it again, however, for “normal” camping? Well made and a good roomy tent.

I’ve had a lot of tents. This is best ever. Excellent construction, Quick setup. Vertical sides make it super roomy. Dozens of nice touches. Poles are seriously thick, like .5″. I carry a bit of some 9/16″ conduit as a repair splint.

I upgraded the stakes, because I always do — but we rarely stake this thing. Get a solid footprint, add cots, and it is not going anywhere. We would stake it out for a windy storm, but have not had to do so yet.

I use with my wife and puppy and have a lot of room. Puppy, which destroys everything, loves this tent and does not try to rip it up, by YMMV.

Solid product. Solid company. So long as it is big enough, hard to see why it would disappoint.

I’ve purchased 3 tents in the past few years and the Glacier 4 is the one that excites me the most. I have a Eureka Grand Manan 6P and a Kelty 4P. I liked the size of the Eureka and the ease of pitching the Kelty.

I needed something that I could easily pitch by myself when camping alone but also needed roominess for two people. The Glacier 4 is just that tent. Most 4P tents are not tall enough to stand but the Glacier 4 is 6′, which gives me just enough head room to stand without bending over. Also, the floor space is greater than my Kelty.

I have two Coleman 30×80″ cots that fit nicely in this tent with about 2 feet between them We store our gear under the cots and it works great for us.

There has been some confusion as to whether this is a 4 season tent so I called Alps and they confirmed that it was because all the mesh zippers closed.

Even with the rain fly attached, which I always have done, there is lots of ventilation. You can see in the photo how the rain fly rolls up on the sides allowing nice ventilation. They have clips to hold the fly which is a nice feature. There is also a roof vent that unzips to let warmer air exit the tent. Both doors have mesh and also are covered for privacy. Even without the rain fly this tent has complete privacy with just a few zips.

There are clips along the floor in each corner to connect a floor saver (will be getting soon) which is another nice touch. There are two mesh pockets in two of the corners.

This tent is a joy to pitch for one person. Two larger than most diameter aluminum poles go up quickly and then the tent clips to the poles. This is exactly what I was looking for in a tent. No more handling heavy fiberglass poles like my Eureka has.

Spent two nights in the rain with no issues, of course, no wind or heavy thunderstorms accompanied the rain but I would imagine the tent would do fine. There are 6 guy out points on this tent.

Side vents zip closed and the zippers on the doors are #10, which are large compared to my other tents.

I only have a couple things I am not crazy about and both are not a huge deal. First, I like D shaped doors with one zipper pull. This one has one zipper that closes the bottom of the door. Annoying, but not keeping me from loving the tent.

My biggest concern is the rain fly vestibule opening. The vestibules are fairly large but getting in and out of a wet tent the flap falls on my back and can get me wet. I am going to find a way to be able to hold the flap open somehow.

In conclusion, this is a great tent so far and will certainly post any problems I might have along the way. There is a Glacier 6P Extreme that I was looking at but the cost is about $200 more but also includes the floor saver.
