The electric violin arrived and worked perfectly with the exception of the bow which was entirely too loose to even play properly. Luckily replacement Cecilio bows are relatively cheap so I ordered 2, and used my spare bow from my acoustic violin. It is not completely silent (the strings are still vibrating in the air), BUT it is quiet enough to practice in a closed room across the hall from someone awake and them not hear you. The sound does not resonate through the instrument but rather across the electric pickup, which is volume controlled into headphones or a speaker. The headphones it comes with are really cheap, I’d recommend a pair of Sony’s for $12. If you are purchasing this to play in a dorm room or similar situation, be aware that if you have a roommate in the same room they will hear you (and its all faintly buzzing notes, like sawing, which can get aggravating if they’re trying to study), but your neighbors will not.

Instrument hooks up to my amp and Sounds pretty good, ran it through chorus, delay and reverb pedals and it sounds even better. Throw the headphones away and get a nice headset- the provided headset is junk…

I love the color of this violin and I’m very new to the strings family not counting an electric guitar 😉 anyways, the violin came quick and safely, the package wasn’t damage from the trip it made. Even though it was during winter when it came. Was surprised at how many boxes it was packed in along with bubble wrap.
Yes, this violin is for people who are lefthanded, so the strings are backwards when you go to tune it with a regular tuner. Didn’t take long to tune it and get the bow all ready. I’m pretty much intune with music most of my life as I breath music. I believe I’m the only one in my intermediate family that is deeply intune to music and musical instruments. I’m also self-taught artist, pianist, saxophonist, and guitarist, so I can understand the theory of playing a violin.
First run through was a bit squeaky D= but the second time I was playing decent notes =D and currently reading and watching videos on YouTube on playing the violin. Pretty sure if I practice daily, in a month or two, I’ll be able to play decent enough without any trouble. That’s just me though. I do love my violin <3 and I can say that the company is good and the price is good if starting out or need a backup instrument to use.

Really a wonderful set and very high quality. Everything you need to enjoy a silent/electric instrument! Very pleased and I have purchased this product in another size and an additional instrument from the same company in a traditional acoustic form!

As a string player of many years on fretted necks (guitar, mandolin & bass) I found myself hankering to saw on a fiddle as in my childhood when everyone in our school was taught classical and fiddle style violin playing. Fast forward almost 30 years and lo, what do I find but what seems to me an unbeatable deal on an electric fiddle…and a lefty at that! Both my boon and my bane, I am a lefty player to the core, so naturally finding instruments can be difficult.

Given what I paid (was less than $60 and price had increased already the day after I ordered) I had dubious expectations at best. It arrived promptly within 3 business days. I opened the box, pulled the case from its factory plastic, unzipped & opened and there lay a damaged instrument with dents marring the fingerboard and a broken tailpiece barely attached to 4 sprung strings and a lonely bridge lying in the bottom.

Salvation! The return was seamless, so bonus points. They shipped a replacement the next day (arrived same week) at no up-front additional cost and issued a UPS label for me to return, also at no cost. All I had to do was repack the busted one with the return paperwork they provided (I printed) and drop it with UPS. They even allowed me up to 30 days for the return to arrive before a mandatory duplicate charge would be required for having a second instrument.

The second shipment arrived and I was nervous. Upon opening the bridge was again floating in the bottom of the case, but with the tailpiece intact and the bridge placement clearly identifiable by the piezo element mounted on the body getting it reassembled was no problem. Had to tighten tuning pegs but again no big deal…pretty standard stuff. The fine tuners on the tailpiece made it easy to zero in once the pegs were set. Brand new bow, so adjustment was needed as well as a VERY thorough rosining before you can expect to get even a peep out of it. Again no surprises.

Unplugged this has decent enough sound. It holds its tone well and sawing away like you’re trying to make catgut screech is still quieter than a standard-bodied violin with a practice mute applied. I haven’t had a chance to plug it in yet, but figure on giving myself a month or few of practice before subjecting my neighbors to the potential that plugging in and running through effects (a la David Cross of 72-74 King Crimson) might unleash. Might update review upon electrification.

    This is gonna be fun!

Cheaply made. Poor quality. None of the ports work properly. The violin’s tuning knobs don’t stay in. I can’t believe how terrible the quality of this product is. Who are these people leaving 5* reviews?? Did they REALLY get the same product as me? I highly doubt it! No way this should be given 5*.

For the price this is a good violin. It sounds great through any decent headphones. Without an amp or headphones the sound is a bit plain compared to an acoustic but it’s also quiet enough to play without waking people in the next room.

    Pros.
    Quiet
Good sound through headphones or an Amp.
Comes with everything (including a 1/4-in amp adapter cable. The port on the violin is a standard 3.5mm aux cable jack)
    Easy to setup.
    I still have money left.

    Nit-picks
The bridge had fallen off the violin during shipping and was lying in the bottom of the case.
There was some slight rattling from under the control box/battery case. I unscrewed it and found a few wood chips, problem solved.

    Cons.
The head phones that come with this violin are bad. They sound bad, and are uncomfortable. Use your own or buy new ones.

I like this violin. It works great and it wasn’t too expensive.
