Coast 700 Lumen Dual Color Rechargeable LED Headlamp Description
- PURE BEAM TWIST FOCUS: Pack two powerful beams into one and seamlessly transition—with no halos or hot spots—between short and long-range viewing. A simple USB connection to either AC or DC ensures you can always get juice. With COAST’s Dual Power technology, you have the choice to power your light with USB-rechargeable batteries or with standard alkaline batteries.

I like that the product has options of using rechargeable battery pack and putting In your own aaa battery I work at overnight in a quarry and best bet every one grabbing aaa batteries like crazy one thing tho is that I did not receive helmet clips or usb box charger which was advertised on having those two items

Wow this is BRIGHT, especially when you focus the beam. My favorite things are that you can turn it on and off and even focus the beam all while wearing thick insulated leather work gloves. I’d prefer if it didn’t start in super high mode and that the vertical adjustment were infinite (this has several positions which click). However, for the money, it can’t be beat. It even comes with 3 AAA batteries so you can get going while you charge the included battery pack with the included charger. Yup, the battery pack has it’s own USB port in addition to the one on the headlamp to charge it once installed.

I use this for inspecting aircraft during maintenance. I actually turn it to the lowest setting for most tasks to save battery but when you need it the bright setting is awesome. I’ve had other coast rechargeable lights and was happy with them too but this one kicks butt.
I ordered this one after loosing my smaller model while camping. I should have left it at work where it had been reliable for more than 3 years.

This does work as described, but…
I bought a Coast headlamp 4 years ago. It had 5-6 small, white, LED lights, and 1 red light. The white lights adjusted to low, medium, and high. On high, it was like having a small flood light on your head. It lit up EVERYTHING. Like a full moon on a clear night. If you were looking forward, without tilting the headlamp, it shined from the edges of my peripheral vision, 20-30 ft on either side of me, 20-30 ft above me, straight down to the ground so I could see my shoes, and almost a quarter of a mile ahead. It was AMAZING. The downside…it blew through batteries, and I lost it.
I wasn’t able to find the same style, and this time around I wanted rechargeable. After some research, I settled on Coast again (also it was on sale), but I had some reservation due to the new design. Man, I hate being right.
Granted this is better than the cheap one I bought at the local store to get me through deer season, but this is still the equivalent of duct taping a flashlight to your head. Due to the circular design (like a flashlight), in “flood” mode, it doesn’t start to pick up the edges of the trail for 8 ft. And, like a flashlight, as the light goes farther from you, it expands out, but not the same distance. Also in “flood” mode, your forward distance is cut dramatically. With a moonless, but clear night, I could see farther with no light at all, then I could with this thing on high in “flood” mode. I was able to see a considerable distance when I changed to “bullseye” mode, but it almost eliminates seeing anything to the side of you unless you turn your head. When I am hunting at night with dogs, I want to see everything. My old Coast, you only needed to be in the general area to pick up eyeshine in a tree or anywhere. This version is heavier than my last one too, noticeably.
At this point, the saving grace is the red light, and it’s rechargeable. I don’t know how long the charge lasts, I can update later, as I just got this yesterday, and used it this morning. I will say it did charge in less than an hour. Not sure if I am going to return this or gift it to someone.

My third coast flashlight! (Other two are fine, just wanted to have the charging option).
I work in the field in Africa – don’t ever leave without 2 of them, one in the backpack and the other in the truck… it is bit bigger and heavier but having such a reliable and effective flashlight is more important to my needs.

As usual, Coast lights work as advertised. Better than cheap rigs that don’t last.
