Primero que nada hablemos del “detalle”, la tienda llego con un defecto de ensamble, uno de los postes estaba mal ensamblado, como se ve en la foto completa no se podia desplegar completamente, tenia el codo girado a 180° (fotos con palomita verde y cruz roja), otro defecto era que uno de los “barriles” estaba mal insertado en el tubo pequeño y no permitia el recorrido completo del mismo, como se puede ver en la foto el tubo es plano de un lado y el “barril” estaba chueco, tambien el mismo tubo estaba insertado por el lado contrario por lo que seguro no salia por el orificio del tubo de diametro mas grande, afortunadamente lo pude reensamblar correctamente, no tiene nada de ciencia, aunque no a toda la gente se le dan esas habilidades y simplemente no tienen el tiempo o paciencia…la sola idea de volver a empacar la tienda y perder mi tiempo para regregresarla era impensable…
Ahora si hablemos de la tienda, es EXCELENTE para MIS necesidades, somos 4 y nos gusta estar con espacio suficiente dentro de la tienda, definitivamente caben 8 personas pero 4 queda muy comodas con 2 colchones queen y espacio de mas para tener las mochilas adentro y tener espacio para caminar y cambiarse comodamente, los cierres funcionan bien, los accesos estan excelentes ya que cierran completamente por los lados y abajo de las puertas, la ventilacion es buena, el separador interno esta excelente y se puede acomodar de diferentes maneras, completo o a la mitad, es una lastima que no venga con la cubierta superior y esta se tenga que comprar de manera separada, yo la compre por que prefiero poner siempre algo mas arriba de la tiendas por el sereno de la mañana en el bosque o para aislar un poco el calor del sol en la playa, pero igual se puede utilizar sin el mismo, en lluvias definitivamente se debe de utilizar.
Se arma muy rapido, una sola persona puede ralizarlo pero para guardarla si se require de dos personas, este tipo de cosas muy raramente quedan igual de como las sacas de su caja…
Al desarmarla solo hay que tener cuidado de que los postes queden bien plegados por adentro y que no se giren a los lados, se deben de replegar derechos, de lo contrario se pueden dañar o romper, no por que sean debiles o no funcionen bien, sino simplemente por mal manejo, pero es importante mencionarlo para tener cuidado.

Excelente para acampar cerca del coche, es funcional y muy amplia, el armado y desarmado toma solo unos minutos. No la recomiendo cuando se debe caminar para acampar, el peso de casi 20 kg y las dimensiones no lo permiten.

The tent is great and easy to setup. You should keep an eye on which side the polls are on over the right side. Extension pins should be on the up side. If you overturn the poll it turns downward and you cannot extend or retract the polls.
The tent works great and setting it up takes 15 minutes once you get a hang of it.
I highly recommend that you get the rain cover that goes for 70$. After it rained for 24 hours straight on a camping trip rain started appearing on the inner lining.
On the bright side you can setup 3-4 full size cots without a problem. 8 people can sleep comfortably on mats or inflatable mattresses.
You are also able to setup two separate rooms and the two entrance points are great for privacy if you turn the tent into 2 separate rooms.
I would recommend this tent but definitively not without the rain guard. For this reason i gave the tent a 4 star.

We were planning a pretty big trip for this event. The last weekend in June of every year is an event for a great many Amateur Radio Operators USA wide (as well as some international stations), called “Field Day” … It is a test of Amateur Radio Operators Emergency Preparedness capabilities where radio operators everywhere pack their gear and port it to a remote location and put stations on the air for a 24 hour marathon event, in an effort to make as many contacts as possible in that 24 hour period.
Now, we don’t take wimpy radio equipment out to participate in this event. Many times, we take the best we’ve got, and equipment we’ve been planning on using all year long for this event.
You can imagine that all this electronic stuff is pretty close to our hearts. We want something that’s going to protect it, come “hell or high water”. Also, the people who are operating this equipment are, obviously, more important than the equipment. So, they need proper attention as well. When you’re in a mountain setting, as we were, you have cold nights and hot days, and thunderstorms in the afternoons, and all this equipment and personnel need protection and relief from these elements.
So, when I went shopping for a tent, I was taking all of the above into consideration. The “instant” part of the 8-person Instant Tent wasn’t as much of a consideration as how the tent would stand up under the elements. But as a very nice “plus”, my Son and I unboxed the tent for the first time and had it set up in somewhere between 15 and 20 minutes. Boom, Done!
If I could give 1/2 star, I would have given 4.5 stars for this review. The reason is the wimpy wimpy tent stakes that are provided with the tent. They aren’t even a seemingly close approximation to what is really actually needed for a tent stake. (Shame on Coleman for this garbage!) Even if you go purchase their ‘premium’ tent stakes, they bend and the plastic parts break. Maybe, in soft dirt, they might work. But, how many times have you attempted to pound a stake into the ground and hit a rock!?. 2 inches down!? Now what are you supposed to do, hope and pray!?. Wimpy Wimpy Wimpy Tent Stakes! (My personal solution to this is to go to Home Depot and buy Concrete Forming Stakes, that which contractors use to set up concrete forms. These are rugged steel stakes, and we have pounded them through rock with a 4 pound hammer … they might seem like ‘overkill’ but in the end, they just work, and keep your tent up, even in the most rugged [typical camping] weather. They are available in several lengths, but the shorter ones usually work fine. .. remember to take a big hammer … now THAT’S a TENT STAKE!) … so much for that.
Now for the tent. I really liked this tent because 1), it is BIG, you can get several people in here and still have room to move. 2) it has big screen windows; you can open them up and have a breeze flowing through, or you can close them up and keep the rain out. 3) you can get a ‘Rain Fly’ which helps keep the rain out. I was glad we had ours. … on word of caution on the Rain Fly. If you buy this tent on Amazon, they will offer you a Rain Fly for this tent that is the WRONG SIZE! … search and buy the 14X10 Rain Fly,and save yourself the pain of getting the wrong one. 4) You can exit from either end. One end has a double door, and the other end has a single door. There is also a ‘privacy’ curtain down the middle if one is needed for your particular situation.
I have attached a picture. I hope you can see the detail in it that is in the original picture. It shows a number of things, the equipment we had in there, as well as one of the important persons it protected, and in the background, you can see a ‘legacy’ Coleman tent that we have used for many, many years in the past. (in spite of the Wimpy Wimpy Wimpy Tent Stakes!) . You’re probably looking at thousands of $ worth of gear here, not to mention the personnel. This year, we were warm at night, (relatively) cool in the day (with the help of a fan), and dry during thunderstorms.
Overall, it’s a great tent. I feel that I got my money’s worth in the first trip.

I love this tent! No regrets. We have used it several times now with no issues. It’s a cinch to get up if you follow the directions. The seven windows provide tons of light and air. I love the double doors, which allow you to sneak out to use the washroom in the night without stepping over everyone. We had it out in a heavy rainstorm with no rain fly or water repellent and all the books we had inside it stayed dry. We had a queen size air mattress and four single size mattresses in ours with a bit of room to spare. There’s plenty of room inside to put a high mattress or some furniture. The neutral color of the material allows for nice natural light color and great photography inside. There’s no roof screen to look at the stars, but that also means there’s less of a chance that water will leak in.
As for cons, they are minor. This tent is strong but heavy so not suitable for backpacking. The “room divider” doesn’t really come all the way to the bottom so it’s more like a bathroom stall than a wall. It still provides privacy as long as people don’t look underneath. You could easily remedy this by putting suitcases there. It isn’t quite as stable as a dome tent so it needs to have a few pegs or guidelines attached, which is to be expected with a tent this size. The pegs that came with it are nothing fancy so you might want to upgrade. Putting it back in the bag is a little tricky. The bag comes with an expandable seam which helps with the girth but it takes a bit of practice to telescope it down to the right length.
This tent is great, but should not be confused with the other Coleman Instant 8 person tent that is found in retail stores like Canadian Tire. That one is similar but the windows are square and it only has one door, and the quality doesn’t seem as good. This one is a better deal.

en verdad que muy buena casa de campaña, en un minuto ya la tenÃamos de pié, aguanto aires fuertes, con respecto a la humedad, en la mañana toque la pared por dentro y me quedó la mano muy mojada y eso que no llovió fuerte, una lluvia fuerte, seguro y se mete el agua………… según esto no…………en fin…………. otro detalle se me hizo muy cara, ya que acabo de ver en costco y sams unas casas de campaña para 10 personas en $3000 pesos como $2,500, más barata y con iluminación led instalada en la casa, accesorio para pasar cable eléctrico, que esta no trae nada………..
en me gustó que es muy alta…. en realidad es muy buena!

Coleman Instant Tents Mean Instant Outdoor Fun

Scouting has many joys and challenges particularly camping. For new scouts and their families attempting the great outdoors for the first time is daunting and find the right outdoor gear is critical. In particular, selecting and setting up a tent is a hurdle and if the parents buy the wrong tent it compounds the difficulties to where they might leave scouting. The leaders have the same need for quality camping equipment as they face many pressing needs which include helping new families unload and setup their tents to facilitate an easier and painless transition to scouting.
Sure, I love Scouting and as a graying Boy Scout I am painfully aware that in Cub Scouts we don’t tackle Philmont or cool high adventure like white water rafting – we lack many of the sorts of exhilarating outdoor challenges my 14 year old Star Scout yearns for and experiences in Boy Scouts (Read: Envy).
However, as I am the Cubmaster managing over 60 boys plus another 30 or so siblings ranging from ages 3 to 14, all of the parents and some grandparents during a campout for roughly 36 hours presents plenty of not so cool peril. Consider my camping history that includes a cub scout finding a coral snake, another time a copperhead and then yet again a water moccasin and then the grand prize: a scout suffering a second degree burn. These constant possibilities dictate an urgent need for constant supervision which forbids wasting precious minutes setting up a tent.
Enter the Coleman Instant Tent
Whereas my first tent sans canvas as an adult was a four man dome tent that required at least thirty minutes for one adult and one squirrely Bear Cub (I don’t think I ever got the fly on correctly) – I was thrilled to discover I could set up my first Coleman 8-Person Instant Tent ALONE in under 10 minutes and my new Coleman Instant in 4 minutes!

Not only can you set it up in mere minutes but then you actually enter the tent and find yourself awestruck by the seemingly palatial dimensions. My first memory of the Coleman 8-Person tent is still with me from Camp Everglades: I marveled at the size, trying to acclimate to the idea of two rooms, a 360 degree view and that stunning sensation of air moving in a tent. How can this be???
Consider the irony that for the entire history of camping people would seek to travel to scenic places to spend at least half of their time in a tent with a fly covering every possible view. The Coleman Instant Tent pioneered an overdue revolution without my having to repeat the frequent risk of the no fly which periodically found me awake in a rainstorm. It took me a while to also ascertain that I could walk around without crouching! What a wonder!
However, as we like to say in technology, the true test of quality comes on how a vendor responds to a problem. My first Coleman Instant Tent didn’t survive the harsh and constant winds we suffered on Camp Sawyer on Scout Key in the Florida Keys. Let me point out that there were easily another half dozen or so of the exact tents that had no issues and still have not to this day so my tent malfunction looks to have been an isolated experience.
One of the tents corner legs became frozen and would not retract into the assembly. A single phone call to Coleman and then a minor process with an e-mail with some photographs and I had a new one inside of a week. Talk about making raving fans out of your customers – move over Rack Space – Coleman has it going on!
Flash forward three years after buying my first Coleman Instant Tent I found myself with a Webelo Scout graduating to camping with his fellow Webelos (Coleman Dome Tents – future blog). Abandoned now for the second time I entered the lonely parental twilight existence of a camping empty nester and reluctantly accepting my fate I moved forward to downsize.
I swear I tried, I did – I still have that claustrophobic one person coffin tent I am trying to give away.
After two campouts I couldn’t do it anymore:
• I missed the splendor of the vaulted ceilings
• I missed the ability to stand up straight
• I missed being able to have a cot
• I couldn’t stand having my backpack in a foyer!
• I got tired of banging my head against the hanging light from the ceiling
The Siren call of Coleman won out and I went back to the nearest retailer excitedly running my fingers over the many Instant Tents seeing that the selection had expanded and more choices presented themselves.
A few minutes later I found myself the beaming owner of a significantly reduced, much smaller, humbler, empty nester, downgraded and Spartan Coleman Instant Dome 7.
Hold it – I know what you are thinking but seven is much smaller than eight!! Plus my wife might come and what if my son was sick or my cousin came into town or my brother or sister or…I had to buy that tent! I mean…what if???
Seriously, the Instant Tent is analogous to seat belts in cars – why on Earth didn’t we have them sooner and thank God and Coleman we finally do.

Then: Dispose of your old tent through a donation to that family you don’t like or the leader you want to see less of. Ensure those ridiculous tents with the color coded poles are gotten rid of and just for fun get a sharpie and color over some of the poles to watch the hour long process take two to three times as long.
