I bought this as something fun to do with my grandson, but I wasn’t sure about how this would work, since the part that “attaches” to the mixer didn’t really “attach”. The weight of the motorhead keeps the dasher and “attacher” in place and we made great ice cream last night. The instructions said to put no more than 46 ounces of liquid in the can since it expands as it churns. We used 2 c whole milk, 2 c heavy cream, and 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, plus 1 tsp vanilla. I added 1 1/2-2 tsp mint extract to my base and chilled it well. That came out to about 42 ounces, so just perfect. The bucket was in the deep freezer overnight, so it was nice and cold. It only took about 30 minutes for our ice cream to churn. We added green food coloring to it as it churned. Next time I will add that when I make the base. At the end of about 30 minutes, the ice cream had reached the top of the dasher, so we stopped it. Make sure you get the “attacher” out of the way before you try and take the dasher out or it will end up in your mix since it’s not really attached to the mixer. We stirred chopped Oreos into our ice cream, transferred it to a plastic container and put it in the deep freeze. It was still somewhat soft when we tried it a few hours later, but I’m sure after an overnight it would be solid. I can’t wait to try more flavors.
