I’m setting up a new 40 gallon tank to raise angelfish fry in – this seemed like the perfect filter. I turned it on and couldn’t believe the flow. It makes so much current that it is like having a powerhead installed. Since the tank is just set up, the water was cloudy from the substrate – this had it crystal clear in less than an hour, so it works very well. I like that it has two separate chambers. I took the sponge out of the upper chamber and filled it with filter floss – you could also cut a finer sponge to put in there. Unfortunately, this will be way too powerful for my newborn fry and I will have to go with a sponge filter until they are bigger, but once they are I will definitely be going back to this filter in the tank. This filter seems a great value for it’s size, and I have no doubt it would be sufficient for even a 75 gallon tank, as long as you cleaned the filter weekly.

My son impulsively purchased a 29 gallon fish tank and fish, without really being prepared. While normally i would let him figure it out, I couldn’t stand by and watch the fish perish, so I’ve been adding the necessities for the fish to be happy and healthy.
This filter could work in a much larger tank it’s so strong. I worried at first it would create too much of a current for the fish to continue swimming without fighting against it. Once I adjusted it to the lowest setting, and had it settled down into the water in the direction I felt moat appropriate, I realized I was worried for nothing.
This adds a wonderful amount of aeration and movement to the water. If I hadn’t already purchased and placed an air pump in the tank, I think this could’ve provided double duty and saved me a little money.
As for the actual reason for ordering, the filter, it’s sufficient. The description and pictures make it obvious the cotton filter is cheap and not meant to last a long time. Even with routine maintenance and cleaning. But I recognized this when ordering, so concurrently ordered filter balls to replace the squares.
Before I switched out the filter, I wanted to see how the cotton square performed. It was actually decent, and cleared up his foggy water within an hour. I still chose go replace them, and after checking levels with each, the balls outperformed the squares by a small amount, and I know they’ll last longer.
Overall, this is a great filter for this price point. Hopefully they don’t realize what s gem they have any time soon and make it less budget friendly.

This is a very powerful filter and has done wonders for filtering out some plant debris as well as creating a good flow for my 65 gallon and providing an extra oxygenation source for my water.
It’s simple to take apart to clean and it’s fairly quiet (we have this tank and our bedroom and it creates a nice white noise for sleeping)
This does not contain any medium just filter sponges. If you’re looking to add medium for extra filtration of the water you could easily remove a sponge and add some filter medium to one of the cartridge areas.
Overall it’s been a great addition to the tank and after having it running for a month or so I’m happy with the aid it’s provided in keeping my tank up. (My water is tinted due to the driftwood tannins not due a lack of cleaning ability of the filter)
I can’t imagine you’d be disappointed with this filter.

This pump was easy to set up, it’s really powerful & my fish love the current. HOWEVER, the cord is ridiculously short! I didn’t measure it, but it’s only like a 2-3 foot cord. I will have to move some stuff around now to make this work, but overall nice buy.

First off, I love this filter. It’s an exact replica of two others I purchased in the past but with that came the same issues the other brand had.
While its strength is unmatched compared to other filters I’ve used, it has no control valve for this power, which is a lot for many aquarium inhabitants. In addition, the suction cups meant to hold it in place are barely usable for a filter with a fraction of this one’s strength. It’d benefit greatly from a better mounting system and a means to control the outflow. This would also help with the noise level. Very easy to clean, so that’s a plus.

I dropped this filter inside of my 110 gallon outdoor pond to help keep the water moving, and the fish happy. I have koi and goldfish together who love bubbles and moving water. The pump came on at full force and it was like Niagara Falls, it moved so much water. I was really impressed, but concerned it was churling the debris in the water too much, so I turned the air valve down to the lowest speed and it was still powerful. I’ve decided I’m going to use the pump instead to make a bog filter and pump water through a secondary pot of rocks with plants growing inside of it. This should slow down the water flow a lot and make a very nice fountain that comes from above down into the pond. The filter media inside is good quality and I think I can find replacements for it pretty easily when it comes time to change them. Great pump!
