Best solution for a cello-to-bass conversion!
John Schultz –
Again, these are only for “bass tuning”—and for that they are great. They are not for classical but good for jazz. The E (low) is the only string I’ve found with correct tension. Helicore are popular on the low strings in regular tuning as well. I have found that other types of conventional strings can be used for the high strings, such as stark/heavy solo Perpetual “a” as the G string. And the D strings are the same for both tunings. Or, you might like the whole set. Great value.

Ottimo suono, sia pizzicato che con arco, bilanciate. Lo strumento risuona molto di più che accordandolo Mi La Re Sol con le corde tradizionali.
Spedizione Amazon ottima come sempre.

Just what I wanted

I’ve been playing a ‘cello tuned in fourths around 25 years. I used to use regular Pirastro strings, risking high tension on the ‘cello (especially on the low C, tuned up a major 3rd!). These new Helicore strings are a revelation. It’s lovely to have a reasonable tension back on my ‘cello and they play and sound great. I’ve been recording with them and love the way they respond. They’re quick to speak and tonally rich. I’m so grateful that D’Addario make these, after all they can’t be that big a seller can they? As far as I know they’re the only set of 4th’s tuning strings available, so they really have cornered the market…not that it can be a very big market 🙂 I paid £105 for them and delivery from Amazon and was within a few days. Highly recommended.
Not my real name –
I am an electric bass player. I bought an electric cello, but struggled with the tuning interval of 5ths.
With these strings I can easily play what’s in my head. The compromise is giving up that beautiful low C.
Electric bass strings are $30 a set. I do not understand why these are an additional $100.

I realy like the strings, i hope you will produce strings with low tension or gut strings in the same tuning too in future
For now i am very happy thank you

The package had two incorrect strings. One was a Bass E string and a Violin C string. This is supposed to be for a cello.
Vanro –
This is just a correction on one of these customer reviews. The G string is supposed to be thinner than the D string. It’s meant to be the first string of the cello. This strings are for a different tuning in fourths, like the four lower strings of a guitar, they are not for standard cello tuning. Make sure you read the description folks.

弾き始めは金属音が強いですが、弾き込むと柔らかくなってきます。
弦自体が柔らかいので、冬はよく伸びます…

Once I got it I didn’t really opened it until later on then I realized that there was a E-string and no C-string when a cello doesn’t have an E-String and when I took a closer look the E-string was a C-String, so the package label was wrong. Then I my teacher went and replaced the C string with the new Heliocore one. Then he moved on to the A-string which when we first took our we really didn’t notice that the string was more thicker than usually until my teacher tried to put it on. The pegs just went back and the string didn’t stay until it snapped. Then we just looked at it and went on to another string, we went to replace the G-string with the suppose it G-string Heliocore when it was actually the A-string so we just broke a string without knowing that it was the right string for the spot. After we were only able to replace the C-string and the A-string in a thirty minute timespan.

Nonostante sia un neofita apprezzo molto la qualità di queste corde che montate tra l’altro su un violoncello Basic lo migliorano molto. Senza parlare poi di poter suonare con accordatura di quarta, essendo nato come strimpellatore di chitarra….
