The packaging was excellent thank goodness because the box is very heavy and the delivery people obviously dropped it a few times. I was afraid the pieces inside would be damaged but they were not.
Assembly requires patience because the pictures are confusing and not well done. I made one error and it was on part E1 which is part of the sliding bracket that opens and closes the drawers. Be sure the flat end of the piece is flush with the front of the drawer piece and the open end just sticks off the back a little; the picture is deceiving. Use the small round holes that sit directly over the spots to be screwed into.
I used wood glue on the dowels on the top, I was afraid to use them on the sides as I was building because I was afraid I may have to take it apart.
Overall I am very pleased with this cabinet and would definitely recommend it.

Wonderful cabinet and I had an excellent experience with this seller. When I had an issue with my file cabinet (I needed a simple replacement hardware piece), the seller responded to me immediately and remained in contact to ensure that I was completely satisfied. As for the file cabinet – I love it. Its sturdy, the instructions were easy to understand, and the open/shut mechanism of the drawers is smooth. It is the best file cabinet of this style for the price. I looked at dozens of cabinets and ones similar to the Devaise cabinet often sold for double the cost. I will absolutely recommend the seller and Devaise furniture in the future and will revisit them for my future office furniture needs.

My new cabinet is the perfect size and looks better than the picture. It was easy to assemble. It took my son and I maybe an hour or so but we were taking our time and had everything laid out before starting. It is super sturdy and great value for the money. I’d definitely recommend this product to everyone. Great buy!

When assembled, this is a great looking file cabinet. However, there are way too many parts. Had to ask my son-in-law to help me… to difficult for one person. Need one to hold parts and one to attach. Had to back track a couple times with hole orientation…pictures of holes were very small and not always clear. Some instructions were a little vague. Unless you are very patient and have a lot of time, would suggest buying an assembled cabinet.

I am extremely disappointed with this file cabinet. I purchased it in June 2023 hoping to have a durable solution for organizing my documents, but unfortunately, it didn’t even last a year before breaking.
Within less than a year of use, the balls on the sliders detached, making it extremely difficult for the drawers to slide properly and completely compromising the functionality of the file cabinet.
It’s unacceptable that a product supposedly designed to last can’t even withstand a year of regular use.
Given the circumstances, I would like to return this file cabinet and receive one that actually functions as expected. I hope the company is willing to do the right thing and replace this defective product with one that meets the appropriate quality standards.
This experience leaves me feeling like I wasted my money. I cannot recommend this file cabinet to anyone. It’s evident that the build quality is extremely poor and doesn’t meet even the minimum expectations for durability.
In summary, if you’re looking for a file cabinet that lasts, you should definitely look elsewhere. This product is a complete waste of time and money.

I like the look … I bought 2! It was not the easiest to build, but the instructions were good. The materials are not durable. Only adults in the home. Only used a couple times each month. No kids, no slamming, no overloading, etc. Literally the drawers are opened on average TWO times a month. One of the sides blew out at Christmas and cannot be used; needed four drawers and now down to three. Having bought two of these.. now I have to replace BOTH to match in the room. Disappointed and looking for a frugal solution.

I purchased the cabinet a couple months back, got it all unpacked and started putting it together. I was impressed with how easy it was to build and how straight forward the directions were. At one point I hit a snag though, one of the pieces required to keep the drawers from pulling completely out had arrived broken, so I couldn’t continue with assembling the cabinet. I contacted the company via email, sent them pictures of the broken item and it’s listing from the assembly manual. It took a little time (they are in China after all) but the company sent out the pieces required to complete the assembly and made the situation right, which is all anyone can realistically ask when something like this happens. I very much appreciated their consistent communication while I was waiting for the replacement parts and now enjoy a sturdy file cabinet as well. As I said in the headline, it’s a solid product. More important, it’s created by a company that values the integrity of their product and maintains their promises. A rare thing in the world today.

For the price, the Devaise 2-drawer lateral file cabinet is a great addition to a home office. It looks good, the drawers open and close smoothly, and it is easily configurable for either letter- or legal-size files. My only reservation is that I don’t recommend it for people who don’t enjoy assembly projects. While a Phillips screwdriver was the only tool I needed to assemble this filing cabinet (apart from the Allen wrench that came with it), it took some coordination and skill to put it together. However, that’s why it’s so affordable. Sending the filing cabinet disassembled saves the manufacturer shipping and labor costs. I didn’t mind investing a little sweat equity to get a filing cabinet that looks good and is just the right size for my needs – but it costs $100-150 less than other brands.
