Perfect match for Gibson SG bass. Great even tone. String tension feels good, tunes and intonates well.

Was so excited to try these out since I’ve been reading good reviews on other websites. But once I’ve put them on, I was shocked to see that they don’t seem to be the right length (the winding that goes on the tuning posts are on the fretboard right next to the first fret). I’ve double checked the package and this page and nowhere it says that the strings are for short scales (I initially thought that I didn’t see it). I’m really disappointed by this product and I expect a refund since it is not what I’ve ordered.
Be careful if you’re thinking about buying those strings!!!

They have a nice round wound sound without being too rough. I only change them a few times a year and I play constantly in 3 bands doing a few gigs a month. Also kind of squeaky clean sound in the first week or so then smooth right out for a few months. I have not tried boiling them to clean but will try that next time for a change.

Switched from Stainless Steel Round Wounds to Sunbeams on my short scale basses and really pleased with the sound and feel. Great tone but not as harsh for more of a vintage sound. These also have a round core which reduces some of the string noise you get with hex cores. I’ve used DR HI-Beams and Lo-Riders for over 20 years on all my basses but may switch to the Sunbeams on all of them.
