I use these on my ES-335 with a Bigsby tremolo and they provide better tuning stability and tone. They are a bit heavier gauged, which I prefer, but they may not be for you as they’re not super slinky.

While I’m happy a popular string manufacturer made a set that should allow me to set up my guitar like Mark Speer without having to mix and match sets, and while they sound wonderful (to me), my set is actually pretty flawed. Others seem to have the same problem. No matter how much I adjusted the saddle, the D string would be sharp at the 12th fret, despite being in tune at the nut and 1st fret. I had to remove some hardware on my bridge to let me adjust its saddle enough (see picture) but you can see how extreme it is and it doesn’t match the typical stagger based on typical relative string stiffness. It’s intoned now, but now I gotta make sure I don’t lose that spring I removed, ha. And based on other reviewers I’m questioning the reliability of that D-string. Another review in German mentioned the same problem with the same string. Another review mentioned ghost notes on the same string. I hope Ernie Ball keeps trying.

These Flatwound electric guitar strings worked to stabilize my tuning issue on my Gretsch dBL jet, with Bigsby trem, and they become softer and smoother feeling after some use.
First off, I typically use .009 or .010 flats on all my guitars. I just purchased a Gretsch DBL jEt with Bigsby trem, and I couldn’t keep the guitar in tune. It was very frustrating, until I read online to jump up to .011 or higher gauge with a Bigsby trem. So I chose these flats in .011, and now my guitar plays perfectly, and always stays in tune. No need to widen my nuts slots. These fit perfectly.
Second, I see persons complaining that these flats feel rough. I have used all the different flats out there, and understand why persons think these are rough, or not smooth.
But once these strings are played on for an hour, all tackyness subsides, and the string prove to be smooth and slightly soft feeling. They are not soft as DAdarrio Chromes, but will come close after some good use.
Third, is the .011 gauge. I love that these have an .011 on the top, and a .046 at the bottom. I don’t like big bottom strings that would typically come with a set of .011 flats, and these are unique in that the bottom strings are not overly big.
Fourth, they sound great, and have a better treble response than my Chromes.
I they actually bend well too!

I grew up playing Ernie Ball Strings, however I had to leave them behind when I started playing Jazz about 20 years ago. I was excited when these came out. They are not quite as smooth as some other flat-wounds, and they are a little brighter than most. However, I’ve been in the mood for a slightly brighter tone so I have been enjoying them. I’m not sure that I will stick with these, but they were worth a try. If you like flatwounds, you might dig them.

I’ve been using regular Ernie Ball slinkys for about 15 years now and was happy. Decided this weekend to look into them as I got into a wormhole on YouTube about tone etc. They are what I’ve been missing for 15 years. The sound is crazy compared to regular slinkys, my Vox AC30 actually sounds like a Vox. I’ve put them on my main guitar at the minute and was instantly blown away with the difference, almost like going from mono to stereo. Definitely more bass, jangle and in general better tone. They’re without doubt going on my other guitars. The noise reduction due to flatwounds and sliding on the strings is just a bonus as I’d still buy regardless and am gutted I didn’t keep them on a guitar for more than a day 8 years ago. As usual the standard Ernie Ball quality and definitely worth the extra money. Time will tell if they last as long as other strings but even if they don’t I’ll be getting more.

I’m use to DAddario CHROMES. I put these slinky flatwounds on and took them off just as fast. They’re too sticky almost feel like roundwounds. They’re bright instead of mello. D’Addario chromes are the same -rice and way more superior.

Ernie ball strings are great, I usually use super slinky, they are perfect for regular strings, but these flat wounds aren’t that great, I prefer a different brand.

Ho scelto queste corde visto il prezzo inferiore rispetto altre flatwound, purtroppo però non si possono considerare come tali infatti al tatto sono ruvide (poco meno di quelle tradizionali roundwound).
Il suono è comunque buono ma visto il prezzo si può optare per corde roundwound di qualità superiore. Sconsigliate per chi cerca vere corde flatwound.

I did try .11’s on my Thinline Stratocaster and an Ibanez Jazzbox. They do have a texture, They aren’t silky smooth like chromes or Thomastik’s but I guess that’s the idea behind this set. A durable Flatwound with more output and clarity due to the Cobalt alloy, to me it is between a Blues & Jazz set. They will stay with the Ibanez Artcore, Great pairing. btw, I can bend the .11’s with no trouble.
Now, I would really recommend trying the .9 or .10 gauges because those are the special ones or what’s different from other offerings. I will certainly get a few sets of .9 for a Headless guitar.
Try them if you are a Rock or Blues player wanting to try Flatwounds without having to change your guitar setup.

These are the brightest sounding flat wound strings I have ever played. They sound almost like regular, round wound slinky’s to me. Just smoother feeling and less noise from moving your hands around the neck.
I won’t be buying them again as i realize I like the slightly darker sound of Chromes. It’s not like I’m going to switch these out because I’m unhappy, but next set I’ll go back to chromes.
These never stop sounding bright, brilliant and sparkly to me. I think a lot of people would love this.

If you never tried playing flat wound strings you owe it to yourself to try some out sometime. I never went back.
I would say these are amazing strings for country or rock guitar players or people wanting that ghs slinky sound, in flatwounds.
Less so for Jazz guitar or players used to the conventional sound of flatwonds.
A great set of guitar strings that last a long time !
