Thought I would have to replace pickup before bass arrived, however not going to bother. Sounds great the way it is. Aligned strings a bit better and tightened the truss rod a tweak and intonation. Spot on!

Excellent workmanship. Well executed replica pretty mush period correct. Near perfect set up out of the box. The Indonesian craftsmen nailed it! Does it replace my American made Fenders? No! Absolutely not! But it comes amazingly close for about a third the price! Perfect to leave out in the studio, keep at your friend’s house to entice her little kid to play, or take on those outdoor or rowdy gigs. Same for the 60s precision model. And I’ve owned or played originals of both. Not the same, for sure. Nothing is. But they will make you smile, for sure! 😜

I wanted a 50s style p-bass for quite a while – and this bass fit the bill. I love the classic sound of this bass which is the same type played by Dusty Hill of ZZTop and Sting. This guitar is very well built especially for the price. Great value. It is branded as Squire, but if it had been branded as Fender I would not have been able to tell the difference. I’ve played a $1,300 version of this guitar branded as Fender and they are essentially identical.
Note: single-coil pickup is true to the period and is not a humbucker – you can buy humbucking versions from pickup suppliers like Seymour Duncan. I play this through a Fender Rumble – so there is a tiny bit of hum due to the non-humbucking pickup. The reviewer who is complaining about hum can switch out the pickups or buy a different bass with humbucking pickups. If I was a professional, I would definitely want humbucking pickups, but as an amateur, I don’t need or want them.

Most versatile single pickup bass I’ve played in years. Well built and great tone. Purchased in Warehouse Deals. Only damage not disclosed was a broken, and missing pickup mounting screw. But that was quickly repaired. The setup was more than adequate and no issues with the neck. Great buy if you can find one.

This bass is beautiful. It has the classic look of the 50’s models and that blond white finish allows the wood grain to show through. The tele style pickup has noticeably more hum than a modern split P-bass coil, but it’s just part of the vintage experience.
The set up out of the box was poor. It arrived unplayable. The saddles were at max height and the strings still just barely cleared the frets by a fraction of a millimeter. After adjusting the neck, fixing the intonation and adjusting the pick up height a little, it plays great. If you’re not comfortable setting it up, plan on paying someone a few bucks to do it. You’ll be glad you did. Overall, I’m very pleased with it.

My arrived playing great right out of the box. It’s really nice for the money and didn’t need any setup adjustments. Your mileage my vary, but even if you need a setup this bass is still worth it.

Musical instruments like music are to individual taste, of course, but my goodness! Outstanding instrument! I’ll sum it up this way: both my guitarist and drummer we’re impressed enough to tell me how good it sounded at my 1st gig with it. High praise!
Fit and finish are excellent. Couple minor unnoticeable (to public) blemishes but otherwise beautiful instrument. It’s a heavy bass though, about 9-10lbs but well balanced with no neck dive. White blond and maple fretboard are simply gorgeous together, makes a statement for sure. And I’m personally partial to ’50s P-Bass look with Telecaster head.
But you can’t play color or looks, so how’s it sound? Best I’ve heard…ever. I play through a combo preamp foot pedal to Hartke amp and 210 cab to front of house PA. A touch of compression, everything else neutral on amp. Preamp bass at 1 o’clock, mid and treb at 11. Bass pot 90% rolled off treb. My goodness, the bottom end is impressive! Full, rich, and booming. Been playing a Sterling Stingray through same rig and could never come close to this Squier’s bottom end. Same with my other Squier P-Bass. The single Alnico single coil pickup is key. Placed slightly off center closer to the neck together with me playing between it and the neck. Plus I put older flats on it, the only setup I did on it out of the box. And that full, rich sound carries up the scale to all strings.
If you’re looking for a classy instrument with full, rich bottom end to cut through the mix that’s a joy to play, give this one a look. Well worth the $450 my family paid for my 65 birthday present (old rockers don’t die, we just play off into the sunset). Highly recommend.

Purchased the item at a discount due to the packaging showing signs of damage which the guitar was in perfect/new condition. The bass plays and sounds great. Lastly, this bass from Indonesia is as good as those from Mexico..
