What I like:
-Nice array of useable tools.
-Nice looking
-Spring mechanism for pliers is solid.
-Impressive price point. Decent value for around $50
What I dislike:
-Locking mechanism is not my favorite, though it works. Digs into my fingers, and isn’t what I’d call smooth.
-Chinese made. I wish it were manufactured literally anywhere else. I realize it keeps costs down but…
-Chunky and heavy. Not sleek.
-Heavy use can misalign and hamper use of other tools. Therefore I would relegate this tool to light, perhaps medium use. Think fishing tacklebox, kitchen utility drawer, or glove compartment of your car.
-The handles have a tendency to misalign. I bent mine back to even. Still that is a concern.
-From other reviews here, there seems to be inconsistency in quality control from tool to tool. Mine was luckily fine out of the box, and tools/knives reasonably sharp. Lucky me.
-The sheath it comes with is just about useless and cheap. I mean, why bother, Lol. Small knitpick there as aftermarket Kydex options are available that seem nice. That would be a must-purchase if one decides to target this as a primary multi-tool or EDC.
Verdict: Gerber is a solid brand. I like their camping/tactical knives and own several, and am very satisfied with their design. But this multi-tool is merely okay. On a budget, Gerber makes passable multi tools that will probably do the job. Leatherman’ multi-tools (I own the Wave and Skeletool) are just superior in build quality. Spend the extra $50 on their stuff if you are targeting a Multitool as an EDC, if you are a construction professional, or want one for your camp/survival bag. It will be money well spent to get something made exactly right, and sturdy as all getout, and will do the job in spades.

The Gerber Truss does fine for what I need it to do. It comes with a lot of tools and two knives. The awl’s edge is pretty sharp and works well as a package opener. The phillips screwdriver has a surprisingly long reach for a multitool. The outermost tools have fingernail holes to assist in opening and with a little practice you can open them one-handed. The sheath is crap. It feels flimsy and I am not a fan of velcro closures. The snap-closure mag pouch I bought for my old multitool (an mp400) on my duty belt is just too small for this guy, so I had to buy a new one. I am a little concerned that the thicker spring-assisted plier handles might be an issue with some of the very tight confines I have needed pliers in. The plier’s jaws don’t open as wide either. If I had a least favorite tool from this set its definitely the wire stripper.
Overall, for the price, I think this is a perfectly fine entry-level multitool. The lower price point means you can more easily replace it if it breaks, gets lost, or is stolen, and I have had all three happen with various gear at my job. If I had to pick between replacing a $60 workhorse that is good enough and I can beat the bejesus out of and not feel bad or a top-tier $180 EDC queen I’ll cry over for scratching, I’ll pick the workhorse every single day.

I just want to say that I do carry this product with me everyday. I keep it on my bag and use it as needed, so I cannot comment on the durability. However it has held up well for my use, it’s very easy to open. I was a little bothered by the locking mechanism with the tools, but I actually don’t mind it at all once you get used to it. For the price it’s very versatile, and is a good size to toss into a bag.

MUITO ROBUSTO E ÚTIL. RECOMENDO.

Excellent price for what you get, definitely would buy another one if needed. The design was very thought out and very good construction. The placement of the individual tools makes sense and doesn’t conflict with the other tool next to it. The locking mechanism is small and unobtrusive and doesn’t affect hand placement or grip. The blades sharpened easily and seem to stay with a good edge after using them.

My Gerber is never very far away from me, as I use it several times every day. While it does come with a holder that can clip on a belt, I would love to have a belt clip right on the tool itself.
The weight is perfect, feeling hefty in my hand while still compact enough for my pocket. I am still learning all the different tools, but the knife is my go-to. Overall, it’s a fantastic deal for the price, with the fancy competition brand going for over 3x the price.

This is the second one I have bought. I had the first one for 4 years and it finally snapped in half. There are cooler ones but this is so simple that it’s perfect for every day use.
Buen producto –
Bought as a gift for my son and he loves it for taking with him when he goes hiking and camping.

This tool was gift for our son-in-law. He loved it and we thought he’d be able to use it while fishing, camping, at work or just have it in the car instead of a whole tool box!
