Govee RGBIC Permanent Outdoor Lights H705A-H705C

I bought these to replace some string lights that we had that stopped working last year. I figured I would make one big purchase to get high quality lights that I’ll never have to mess with again, at least not while I live in this house.
Installation:
Make sure you use alcohol to clean and dry the spot you’re about to stick the lights before you stick them up and they hold up pretty well. I’ve heard that the adhesive can fail in humid climates (on reddit so take that with a grain of salt) so I downloaded a 3D print file for a bracket that allows you to screw them to the soffit instead of just relying on the adhesive. If you live in a normally dry climate then you may not have any problems. I haven’t had any problems yet, but I’d rather be proactive with what could potentially go wrong. If you have a porch and you’re putting the lights along the front of the eave of the porch then just the one 12ft extension that’s included for going between floors won’t be enough. See below.
The app:
The app is super easy to use and adding or editing the lights is very easy to do in the app. You can rely solely on the app or you can use Alexa/Google to control the lights (minimally) as well. To change the color or set specific lights up you have to use that app but if you just want to turn the lights off or on then you can use Alexa for that.
The lights:
The lights themselves are very bright and well built. They don’t feel like they are going to fall apart or break.
One complaint:
The one complaint that I had is that in the 100ft string there is one “jumper” to go from one floor to the next. It’s a section that’s about 12 feet long that has no lights. That didn’t work for me because I have a porch and put the lights at the front edge of the porch. I would have needed 2 of the extensions in order to get to the second floor with no lights on the side of the house. Yyou can’t just buy the extension from Govee either. If you want another extension you have to take to eBay and hope someone is selling one they didn’t need in order to buy one. People are charging upwards of $70 just for that one piece because they know they are so hard to come by. If you have a porch, I recommend just buying the 150-foot string and planning to either keep spares of the lights or sell the strands that you don’t use to recoup some of your costs. Alternatively you can do what I did and just put lights facing outward that go up the side of the house. Other than that, everything was great.

Needed a new segment due to bad led and this was exactly what was needed to fix and get back to working again.

Overall good quality, but the sticky pad is not strong enough, have to keep on reapplying them

I have gone “Govee Mad” at our house this year! I love the lights both inside and outside the house. I was quite happy there was an extension kit to the permanent outside lights as I was 15′ short and it didn’t look right from the street. Ordered the kit and without any instructions included, I figured it was ‘plug and play’. Nope, plugged these into the last string of our installed 50′ kit and no lights. What?!? I looked at the instructions from the original kit as well as Govee’s website and have no idea what to do to make these work. I decided to try the reset button on the control box for 5 seconds and the extension kit came alive! So, turn off the power to the original light kit, install the extension kit, turn on the power and press the reset button for 5 seconds and your new lights should work!

It was $200 for the kit with 200′ of lights and a power supply.i I needed just one more strand of lights. It was $50 for 16′. Other than that these worked great.

Saved me so much time and effort. I”ve climbed the ladder for the last time to hang Christmas lights. Love these and you can do all kinds of lighting effects with these things. They are very bright, but can be adjusted to not “PO” the neighborhood and the different colors and patterns you can come up with is mind blowing. Love em and will be back for lights after I finish the backyard staycation project.

I already had the Govee lights but I wanted more so this is an addon. I am pleased with the lights. I purchased them for the outside of my house. No more scrambling to get lights up for special occasions. Leave them up all year around. Multi themes and colors.
