I ordered two of these heaters, which I had owned before and are top rated quality heaters. I checked everywhere and Amazon had very competitive pricing. The heaters were delivered with 24 hours so another positive.
However, beware the packaging and handling can be an issue. Both heaters were delivered to my front porch and the outside of the boxes have clear arrows for which end should be up – one was delivered upside down. There is good plastic strapping around the heaters but the bottom of the boxes are not taped very well with gaps where parts can be lost. When I opened both heaters, I found that the nuts that are used for the wheel assembly were loose in the box but was lucky to find them all. However, the plastic base that attaches to the metal base has four screws and nuts holding them together. In both boxes, all of the preassembled nuts had come loose and in one box I was missing two nuts as the box was damaged and poorly taped allowing them to be lost in the delivery handling. I had to go to a local Ace hardware store to get two replacement nuts for about $0.40/each vs waiting weeks for the Hiland customer service to send replacements.
Another thing to prepare for is that the plastic base is not filled with sand so I had to go purchase a bag of play sand to fill each base. I purchased a 50lb bag of sand and used a plastic cup and my fingers to jam each base full so that it adds safety and stability to the heater for windy days. Each base held 25lbs of sand.
Finally, since my boxes looked liked they had taken a beating during shipping, I was concerned that some of the light metal parts mights be dented or bent. They were not as the internal packaging was adequate.
Total assembly time is estimated at one hour, but tracking down missing parts, filling the base with sand and removing the blue protective plastic cover on the deflector shields will make assembly time longer. Make sure you get all of the micro blue plastic off the deflector shield before your first burn!

First heater ordered and after waiting for two weeks for arrival it was determined to be “lost”, contacted Amazon and they did deliver replacement in 5 days. Opened box, the packing is not very secure but there did not appear to be any damage. However i did find the hook on the base for the door clip was missing, from paint it is easy to see was never installed. Surely it should have been picked up during manufacture as this is a common issue according to other reviewers. Metal is showing some surface rusting on the inside of the stand, the steel is very thin and it would expect it easily damaged with slight contact, a concern for foot dings as there is a table on the upright. The spot welds inside unit are questionable for long term use. While due to the price reduced quality is to be expected, if you buy this it should be considered one to be replaced every couple of years. Will be returning due to the door latch issue as I am not sure I was expecting to have to finish the manufacture myself.

Patio heater is good looking. I really like the adjustable shelf. Puts out great heat. Read instructions for lighting. You have to hold the pilot down for about 30 seconds before you try to light. Just find the pilot so you can see it before you try. It has an inspection hole to see it. Everyone loves the brown color. Both boxes were somewhat damaged upon receipt, but the heaters were fine. I was missing hardware for the transport wheels on one unit. It comes partially installed but may come out and be loose in box. I assume it fell out of the first damaged box. easy enough to find generic hardware though. Just two bolts and nuts. The rest of the hardware is in a blister pack and instructions are easy to follow. Maybe 30 minutes to assemble the first one, but half of that is unpacking. We love them.

Arrived on time. Easy to assemble. Works great except having problems with the ignitor starting it. Use a long ignitor and a way it goes. Other than that a great product

missing the latch to close the door small thing but gotta use duct tape to keep closed….called them but nothing
They now say go to Home Depot and buy something to fix it myself. Claim they don’t have parts. “Some guy named Willowby”

For the money you simply can’t beat it. Works impeccably and throws a fantastic amount of heat which is why you want it right! The little drink tray is a nice feature as well. Overall I was happy enough that I bought a second one!

I purchsed 2 of these and put them together in under an hour each. It’s well packaged so you’ll spend a lot of time taking everything out of the packing- a good thing. The best part is that the nuts/bolts are all well labelled AND packaged so you can’t mix things up. 2 people would make assembly easier but I had no helpers…
These replace more expensive heater purchased from Frontage purchased in 2013 that already died. These are better looking, and feel more sturdy. They also throw more heat in a wider radius. We’ll see how they hold up, but I purchased the covers so they’ll likely last longer.

Previously I bought the AmazonBasics patio heater and was satisfied with my purchase. When I went to buy another one, they were out of stock so I found this AZ patio heater for the same price and decided to buy it instead. Now I regret buying the AmazonBasics heater! This heater is so much more attractive! The drink tray is really nice as well for parties. The chrome and brown looks is really nice, you won’t be disappointed.
Only comment in comparing the two heaters is that this AZ heater is a little harder to turn on. There’s about 5 steps to turn it on whereas the AmazonBasics one you just ignite and turn on. But once you learn how to turn this heater on its not really a problem. The instructions are printed on the heater too for easy reference.
Would recommend and buy again.

Box came in good shape. Husband put it together 35 mins. All parts were there. Had a wrench but needed your own screwdriver. Assembled in garage had to come in through back gate to patio because hood doesn’t fit through house man door. Took a bit for propane to make its way up the line. Follow instructions for lighting. Pilot knob has a sweet spot. Throws a great heat. We started off at low heat and eased to a high heat. No issues. Very happy with it. Good buy for Vegas “winters.” Would recommend.

Works great. Gives off awesome heat! Assembled quickly and look good!

The unit heats well. I have other Hiland patio heaters which turns on with a low setting and and adjusts to high. This unit turns on immediately to high and adjusts to low…the exact opposite. But my biggest complaint are the wheels that do not work after the initial few weeks of ownership. They are made of an inferior thin white plastic that cracked and became useless. To buy a replacement part from Hiland cost $35. I ended up buying new wheels from Home Depot and replaced the wheels for $10. It’s disappointing to pay $300 for something that has inferior parts…now I wonder what else is inferior that I can’t see.

We loved this so much, we bought a second one two weeks later. 1) understand this is a home residential level unit. Do not compare this to a commercial unit outside a restaurant. 2) instructions were clear and everything came nicely packaged 3) my wife and I assembled the first unit in about 2 hours in our dining room. 4) we good not, and do not use the pilot light, simply because this uses your standard BBQ bottle of propane. Don’t want to burn out the gas. It lights fine with a usual long stem lighter for fireplaces. If you are uncoordinated, and don’t own a couple pliers, ask someone else how to assemble and light it. Bottom line, for $150, this is the streak of the century
