IRIS Large Cat Litter Box with Scoop

I just needed a inexpensive liter box for a little kitten that’s not wanting to leave my bedroom. He had a most traumatic babyhood, and he’s very skittish, doing the scooby doo slide and run anytime he sees another living being but me, so he has NOT been wanting to go in the covered litter box that we keep in the bathroom. I put this where he had decided he was determined to ‘go’ and it’s worked well. He seems to feel comfortable in it because he can see out and around, and it’s certainly big enough for him. It is full size, and it has helped him get the hang of scratching the litter because it is nice and deep for a small 5 pound cat and I can reach inside it, to play mama cat and use his paw to show him how to cover his poopie. The things we do for love!
I’ve got 10 cats and this litter box is good for those cats that don’t like to be closed in. It fits all cats, but is best, in my opinion for kittens to medium size cats. It comes with a little pooper scooper. Another advantage is that it is very easy to take out and dump, and litter liners fit this box if you use them. The giant, multi cat boxes are so heavy they can be hard for me to take out when a total litter change out is needed. This one is easy to manage. The lid snaps down on the box and has stayed in place very well.

We made a sudden decision to foster six cats that were originally meant to go into a shelter and we were without real litter boxes. We were using the plastic Rubbermaid shoebox bins and the cats were getting litter everywhere. Not to mention, we had no extra scoop so we were using gloves to clean the bins.

I knew a better solution was required. I found this litter box in about five seconds and ordered two. I wasn’t expecting anything amazing at just $6.59 with an included scoop, but anything was going to be better than our current situation. These boxes turned out to be great. The guard is not the most sturdy contraption, but it does stay put after initially attaching it and does its job. Litter is still scratched out the front, but it’s mainly one cat who is doing that and I would need an entirely different design of litter box to remedy that which I knew when I purchased these so I’m not upset. I haven’t felt the need to get separate scoops (I use DuraScoops for my cats) even though the included scoops are a bit flimsy. They scoop fine and store away in the corner of the guard which is pretty cool. The cats only knocked them into the box once and I think that’s because one decided to be an adventurer and, as I had witnessed once before, climb from one box to the other over the top of the guards (they are placed next to each other).

I’m very pleased with this purchase. Ultimately, I was looking for an inexpensive, effective, quick and easy option. This litter box ticked off all three. I have two boxes with domed hood entrances ($50 Marchioro) and a homemade top entrance clear bin ($6 Home Depot) for my five cats upstairs and I did not want to pay a lot for a box where no dogs are located or put in the effort of making another box when I needed it so quickly.

For my situation, these boxes worked perfectly. Would I use these as a permanent fixture for household cats? I probably would not. I would use these as a quick backup, temporary replacement, or in a second home that I only bring my cats to for weeklong periods at a time. Overall, the litter box deserves all five stars for being what it is at such a low price.

My 10-year-old cat loves to dig in her litter box so of course, there would be litter all over the place after she was done, which would then make its way into the rest of the house. After some searching, I found this open top box and, since it had pretty good reviews and a fantastic price tag, I ordered it.

The box is a very nice size for my cat who is roughly 11 pounds. The litter box measures approximately 16″ x 12.5″ x 6″ without the top. The top adds approximately 6 inches to the height and has a curved opening in front so the cat can easily climb in and out of the box. It’s very simple to snap the lid on both sides and it has stayed in place with no problems. We purchased the black color and it is a nice, shiny black that would look good in any location. Because it is a deep litter box, it can hold a lot of kitty litter. I haven’t measured out how much I put in there but there is plenty of space if you have multiple cats and need a lot of litter. The box also looks just as the picture shows so you know what you are getting.

My cat had no problems transitioning to the new box and so far we have had a lot less litter in our laundry room and house! The one thing that I need to mention is that this box is supposed to come with a scoop but ours didn’t. We already had a good, large scoop that works well so this doesn’t bother me that much. I can’t say how this box would work for kittens, large cats, or multiple cats since I only have one medium-size cat, but it’s working great so far! The price was excellent and the quality seems good so as long as this box holds up well for a long time, I would purchase another one in the future if we ever need a replacement. This box is great for preventing litter from getting scattered all over the house and I would recommend it to anyone who also wishes to keep their house a little bit more litter-free!

I’ve ordered two litter boxes, but I received only one scoop. Can you please send me the second scoop? If not, I’ll have to return the litter box and order a new one.
