Great little feeder…my chickadees, nuthatches, sparrows, etc…can safely eat throughout the day without the Blue Jays consuming every seed or peanut within minutes. (Bought the blue one just to irritate them.) They just can’t get a good foothold on the cage or their heads/bodies inside. (At least my marauding New Brunswick Jays can’t because they’re huge.) Great quality for the price. Two thumbs up!

I was quite pleased as I soon I hanged it birds started flying to the feeder and staying inside eating. It was a short enjoyment. Squirerels followed easily entering inside the feeder. No squirrel proof at all. I did return it but I loss time and effort for false advertising it as squirrel proof. Amazon should fix the description for customer sake.

Love the blue! Easy to assemble. No squirrels bothered so that’s a plus. I should have bought it earlier in the season. The dish is removable for easy cleaning and I like the size.

Not Starling proof! I already had an adult Starling squeeze itself into the feeder. If a bird wants food, it will figure a way to get it. Overall, this feeder is a nice manageable size. The bowl is glass and a good size for holding food. It’s easy to open and I like the fact that it has a roof to keep the rain out.

I have two other types of Kingsyard feeders that I love, so was excited to find this mealworm feeder.
Looks nice, great for small birds, seems sturdy, easy to open and clean. Be aware that small squirrels and some larger birds can get into it, or the squirrels can rock the feeder and spill the feed. I currently have bluebird nuggets in mine.
I really like the solution that another reviewer posted about coving the dish with a plastic food container cover with a hole cut in it. That helps keep the feed in when larger birds or squirrels make the feeder swing back and forth.
I like this feeder so much, I’m planning on buying another as a Christmas present for a relative.

This is my 4th meal worm feeder. The other 3 have broken. They were pretty and clear but plastic and broke in any high winds or rain. I tried gluing them and that helped but eventually, within 3 months, they were always broken. ALso the big black birds simply ate the meal worms within an hour.
This feeder is like a cage and it is heavy duty. It will take awhile for the bluebirds to figure out how to get in and also for them to feel comfortable in staying within the cage. At first when they figured it out they would jump in, grab a worm and jump back out but they are gradually getting used to it. It is not going to break, even if it gets blown off. The blackbirds try to hang on to the side and if there is a mealworm that has fallen out of the bowl they may be able to get it but otherwise they have been kept out. Meal worms are too expensive to just have them eaten in an hour by the big black birds. This took a long time to arrive but it’s worth it.

The feeder itself is great – sturdy but lightweight, arrived intact without any scratches or bent parts as some other reviewers have said. Nice color (I got blue) and easy to clean.
I’m giving it 4 stars because it did not keep the pigeons out. I love pigeons but they gobble all the feed before the finches and juncos have a chance to eat. The feeder seemed to work well the first few days – the pigeons were wary of it and seemed stumped as to even how to attempt to eat from it. After a couple of days the small birds figured it out and were popping in and out of the feeder as they pleased.
Today is day 5 and much to my chagrin a pigeon has figured out if they brace themselves and really, really push/stretch their neck they can reach the feed bowl through the grate. There were a few other pigeons gathering on the deck railing…watching…learning. I could practically hear their little pigeon brains going, ‘coo coo that’s how you doo doo it.’ Foiled again. If the wire grate circumference was just 2 inches further from the feed bowl, this would have worked.

I like this feeder because it’s fairly easy to fill and clean. The birds seem to like it. There were some rub marks on the top from shipping so I used a little nail polish to keep from rusting. In fact the ends of the silver hanger are starting to rust so I will coat them as well. Not bad for the money.

This is good quality. Smaller than the other large blue cages made by another mfg. I have many of the larger blue cages for blue bird meal worms. This is much cheaper so tried it. Won’t purchase more because I don’t like the cover. The large ones by other manurfacturer have a cover you can just pull up and slip your hand in there to fill. This one, you have to take the cover completely off, fill it and then put the cover back on again. Doesn’t work for me in wintertime. Too hard to get cover off and on in freezing, ice and snow. Good quality, good price if you want to feed in good weather, but not for me, unfortunately.

This sturdy feeder is designed to feed mealworms and BF Larvae. It looks nice and is very sturdy. The grid keeps out squirrels. However, the Scrub Jay can push his head far enough to reach the expensive mealworms. The aggressive jays would be out of luck if it were just two inches wider. Find a used food container that fits the holder to lock out the Jays. Cut a hole in the top. The Bluebirds can still pop in and eat the worms. So far, the replacement worm holder has thwarted the Jays.
Most bluebird feeders are twice the price. I think this modification works well. The feeder is easy to clean and easy to reload with worms.
