The fact that you need to place it away from rain makes it a zero stars. I bought quickly, but it should obviously have a top to protect from rain

This is a very sturdy ground feeder. Smaller birds can get in and out of it very easily.

I have many Kingsyard products and have been impressed with the quality and weather resistance of them. Not so much with this one. It is imperative to me that this product have a sturdy screen to keep out various anticipated ground critters. But the weld on one of the mounting plates was defective so I ordered a replacement from Amazon. The welds on the replacement were even worse than the first one, with the plate loose and crooked. I requested a replacement from Amazon but was only offered a refund, and it was suggested that I contact Kingsyard. I follow the contact procedure and received no response. Very disappointed both in poor customer relations and quality assurance on the part of Kingsyard.

If you take the “squirrel proof” claim off I would give this five stars for a well constructed quality ground feeder. Honestly, I don’t think that squirrel proof platform feeded can EVER be a thing. It’s a nice dream though. If you can figure out a way to allow larger birds like.. Blue Jays WITHOUT feeding squirrels I will be grabbing that product as soon as it’s available, whatever format it comes in. I’ve been struggling with that problem for over 20 years and I’m ready to give up.

In general, this platform feeder is sturdy and strong. I like that it is recycled plastic and will hold a fair amount of seed. While chipmunks can enter through wire cage, squirrels cannot. This feeder should last for a number of seasons and is easily cleaned.

This is top quality material and assembly. Can’t wait to show it to the sparrows tomorrow! 😂
One surprising omission is there’s no latch for the cage. It just sits on top. Maybe I give the squirrels too much credit, but a latch would be sooo easy to add. Another suggestion, in case the product designer has nothing better to do than read Amazon reviews, is tent stakes or some such to prevent the raccoons from dumping it over.

The Kingsyard products are fairly expensive, but really unbeatable for quality and durability. I don’t mind feeding some very large ringneck doves, but I don’t want them to eat everything. It took the small birds about 5 minutes to discover this feeder and begin using it.

Totally a bad design!
The cage top could not be secured and kept falling off, and the spaces large enough for any squirrel to get in.
So light and flimsy that anything could knock it over – the squirrels would have had fun destroying it.
We love squirrels and feed them too, but wanted something just for the little birds.

I love the materials! This brand offers Amazing colors & a variety of designs for a vast array of choice! (I’m also getting their caged hanging feeder)! Appreciate how sanitary the material is (because of the water resistant material used) it’s easy to clean(hose off)! My squirrel checked it out & quickly lost interest( knowing he didn’t have acess to the seed)! I love the durability of these products , I can’t imagine them not lasting forever & the price point is fair for what ur getting ! Happy Bird loving ! My little birds love this option !
