Really a great investment for any player

I am a band director, and I had always been warned to avoid plastic reeds (and had heard horror stories as a reed player myself). However, when I was trying to pick up my saxophone in lessons, I figured I’d give it a try to avoid the awkward 45 seconds waiting for the reed to get wet and line up on the mouthpiece (or taking it off, wetting it, and lining it up). I was extremely surprised when I first tried it out! It responded so clearly, and in such a lovely way. It wasn’t squeaky, squaky, or awful in tone (though, it is a little bright for a concert band or orchestra setting, in my opinion). It is so easy to play on! This is a huge value for me, and it is so useful for me as a band director (especially one who doesn’t play much brass)!

Muy buen producto!!!

I love these reeds! They last so long they always work so well with me. Just be careful not to break them bc some just become useless after that.

I’ve been using the Légère Reeds Premium Synthetic Woodwind Reed (Signature, Strength 2.00) for almost two years now, and it has truly transformed my saxophone playing experience. After years of using traditional cane reeds, the switch to this synthetic reed has been amazing. One of the standout features is how soft and easy it is to play. It allows me to produce clear, consistent tones effortlessly, making practice sessions smoother and more enjoyable.
Unlike cane reeds, the Légère reed requires no pre-soaking, so it’s ready to go straight out of the box, which saves time and hassle. I also appreciate the durability—over time, it holds up well without the typical wear and tear associated with cane reeds. This reed has provided me with consistent performance for a much longer period than I ever experienced with wood reeds.
While everyone’s preferences may vary, for me, this reed has been an excellent fit. It’s reliable, responsive, and easy to play, and I highly recommend it to other saxophonists looking for a reed that combines convenience and quality.

PLEASE SWITCH TO THIS REED, MY TONE AND INTONATION INSTANTLY IMPROVED.
Aside from the crazy start of this review, this reed is actually insane. I got a 2.5 hardness because I used to play Rico 2’s, but they were garbage, then switched to Vandoren 3’s because my director required them, then tried this reed and INSTANTLY LOVED IT! I’m not joking. This reed is probably softer than my Rico 2 in my opinion. Very worth price. The reed case itself is pretty decent, although bulky. Doesn’t defeat the fact that THIS REED IS A GAME CHANGER THOUGH. When I switched to this reed, my practices became more fun, and in my opinion, that’s more important than ANYTHING. Durability is good, obviously compared to a cane reed. Seals to mouthpiece really well. First taste of Legere, love it!

Got the 2.5. I saw some reviews saying they tend stiffer than a cane 2.5, but wasn’t the case when I tried. Would say they match the strength of their cane counterparts pretty accurately.
Arturo Guzmán –
Mejor de lo que esperaba, muy cómoda, muy buen sonido y no necesita humedecer y no baja su funcionalidad después de tocar varias horas
Aurelio Torres Laster –
I love Legere Reeds! I will never go back to cane reeds. I currently use these reeds on my soprano, alto, and tenor saxes. They are consistent in performance and quality and produce a great tone with little resistance. They are truly responsive to dynamics too. Gone are the days of having only two or three good cane reeds out of a case of 10. I highly recommend!

I hesitated because the description of the product conveyed through the image isn’t correct. This is a real 2.00 Legare Signature alto saxophone reed, just for the record (thanks to others for convincing me of this in the Q&A which led me to make my purchase).
I am a relative newcomer to the saxophone so my judgments on sound quality should be taken with a grain, possibly a shaker, of salt. When I first tried this reed out I was really pleased, but experienced some difficulty with some mid-range notes sounding different or even off compared to wood reeds. However, as time has gone on I have to say I’m really pleased with this product and the sound quality produced – no soaking, just stick it in the mouthpiece and play the saxophone. The difficulties with some notes I was initially experiencing have largely abated. The biggest advantage? I find that I can hold a note longer and sweeter and with less air pressure than with a comparable wooden reed. There is no longer a whistling loss of air around my embouchure like there was with wooden reeds (yes, I tried different strengths and have worked on my embouchure). Well worth a try. Not having to wonder if the reed is bad, when to replace an old reed, and throwing away lots of little plastic cases are other pluses.
Reviews by Andy –
My daughter plays Alto Saxophone in her High School Marching band. I recently purchased the Légère Reeds Premium Synthetic Woodwind Reed for her, which turned out to be an excellent decision, and we are thoroughly impressed with the product. One of the standout features of the Légère reed is its exceptional smoothness during play. My daughter immediately noticed the ease with which she could produce clear and vibrant tones on her Saxophone.
A major advantage that sets Légère reeds apart is the convenience they offer. Unlike traditional cane reeds, there’s no need to pre-soak the Légère reed to achieve the perfect pitch. It’s ready to play right out of the box, eliminating the time-consuming process of soaking and adjusting. This feature has been particularly appreciated by my daughter, as it allows for a hassle-free and immediate playing experience.
The durability of the synthetic material is another noteworthy aspect. Traditional cane reeds are often fragile and susceptible to changes in humidity, but the Légère reed holds up well over time. This not only contributes to a longer lifespan but also ensures consistent performance, making it a cost-effective choice in the long run. My daughter is delighted with her playing experience, and we highly recommend it to fellow saxophonists.
