This drive is used in an external USB enclosure to move large files from one computer to another and store temporary backups for reinstalls. My impression as of right now is that it is a very nice and inexpensive drive that performs well.
The drive does everything it should as a portable backup. Reading from a platter drive to this 256 gig LEVEN my write speeds start at 110MB\s and stabilize between 78-85MB\sec or 640mb\s on large file transfers through a USB 3.0 enclosure and 3.0 hub, which I consider excellent considering the limitation and bottlenecks between the two drives.
Setup was a 30 second process.
NOTE: In Win-10 the drive will NOT show up in File Manager until it has been initialized (no Plug-n-Play) so go to Drive Management and let Windows initialize it for use. You may be prompted to select MBR or GPT. I used GPT but either will work. However, if you are planning to use this as a Windows boot drive in an older machine that does not have UEFI your will have to use MBR.
What’s in the box? The drive and that’s it. If you are building a PC or adding the drive to an existing system you will need a SATA cable and mounting hardware.
Overall I’m 100% satisfied with the performance and price per gig. I’ve never heard of this company and info on product reliability is a minimal as their website at this time, but it has a 3 year warranty and I have no plans to keep any critical info on it so the risk is acceptable for my needs.

I recently upgraded my laptop’s storage with the Leven 256GB SSD, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. This SSD is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to speed up their computer and improve overall performance.
One of the standout features of the Leven SSD is its impressive read and write speeds. I found that it was able to load applications and files much more quickly than my previous hard drive, making multitasking and other tasks much smoother and more efficient.
The SSD’s 3D NAND flash technology is also a major selling point. It allows for higher density storage and better performance than traditional 2D NAND, which is reflected in the SSD’s overall speed and responsiveness.
The installation process was also very easy, and I appreciated the included instructions and software that made it simple to transfer my files and data from my old hard drive to the new SSD. The SSD is also very lightweight and durable, making it ideal for use in laptops and other portable devices.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Leven 256GB 3D NAND SSD to anyone in need of a reliable and high-performance storage solution. It is easy to install, provides excellent read and write speeds, and is an excellent value for its price point. If you’re looking to upgrade your computer’s storage, this SSD is definitely worth considering.

UPDATE: My original review is below. If you read it, you can probably tell I was done with this product. But the manufacturer reached out to me to make this right. They never asked me to change my review, but based on their actions, I feel I owe it to other customers to update this…as well as to Leven. They voluntarily replaced the drive with a new one!
The new drive is working 100% perfect after some stress testing. So my original impression was related to the unit I received…not a general assessment of their product line.
Working with Leven to return the faulty drive and coordinate the new unit was super easy. This is a good company standing behind their product!

I purchased the 4TB version to use in a Proxmox virtualization server. Upon initial setup, it worked great. But after ~2 months of use (and after the return window closed), the drive began having issues. It heated up so it began to stop responding to the controller and I encountered many many errors & timeouts.
I finally replaced the drive with a Samsung 2TB … smaller, but I couldn’t afford the larger 4TB.
So now I have a useless $300USD flaky drive. So frustrating…

Cloned 1tb of a 2tb standard SATA, to this 2tb SSD. Cloning took 18 hours, but that’s just the dock speed. Once installed, the drive booted up, but Windows 10 reports an error and needs to do System repair. Just let it do it. Most likely repairing MBR and info stored on SSD misidentifying the drive. Once the repair finished, system rebooted and works great. Now, I plan to keep using this 2013 Dell Inspiron. Will run older games like Neverwinter Nights Diamond, Baulder’s Gate, Dungeon Seige, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, and the like. Also runs M$ Word, Scrivener, and various writing software easily. Also use Photshop CS6 and Corel Paintshop Pro without a hitch. The laptop is not built for gaming, so I was surprised it ran these games functionally well. Loads so must faster and is ready within 35-45 seconds of boot up. The older Western Digital standard SATA often took 1-2mins to boot up, and then another 15-20mins of 60%-90% HDD usage resource hogging to complete and update everything, before I could even load my writing software or do anything. As stated before this is up and running within 45sec to 1min of boot up depending on updates. Will buy another one soon for my desktop and wife’s laptop.

Update June 2024:
Manufacturer has stopped replying to my emails. It’s clear that they have no intention of supporting their products in any way.
It’s unclear to me if the drive ever fully worked even when new. Don’t waste your money here.
———-
Update May 2024:
Manufacturer refuses to honor their “warranty”. I’ve been going back and forth with them in email since my last review.
They have yet to take any action and keep asking me to do impossible things before they’ll give me service (for example, I don’t have a Windows computer, but they keep insisting that I run some Windows program before they’ll do anything).

Update Feb 2024:
It’s dead. Now it’s nothing but I/O errors, timeouts, and system exceptions in the kernel log. It’s spent its entire life in a USB disk enclosure on a shelf at 18°C.
The enclosure that it’s in has been experiencing instability over the last several months. I assumed the enclosure itself was the problem but after doing some troubleshooting, it worked fine once this drive was removed. I assume it’s been dying for a long time, maybe since I bought it.

Original Review January 2023:
Pretty OK large capacity SSD drive for storage
I’ve been waiting for large-capacity SSDs to come down in price for a long time. I saw this 2TB for $60 on sale and figured I’d give it a try.
I’m looking to replace my RAID of spinning disks in my my long-term home storage with a few SSDs. In theory, if you primarily read from them, SSDs should last an extremely long time – even QLC drives like this one. This should make them perfect for long term archival storage with few writes. and lots of reads. And since they shouldn’t fail ever year or two like mechanical drives, they won’t need to be in a RAID, which means I won’t need to buy twice as much storage as I need either.
I’m testing this one out as my media drive and using it to store my movie collection.
– The drive isn’t screaming fast like the more expensive drives. However, the read speed has been consistently “fast enough.”
– Writes are fast, until they’re not. Once its internal cache fills up, the drive’s write falls pretty fast. Sustained write performance can drop to 10 MB/s or less. This is a bit frustrating when I’m filling up a new archival drive – 1 TB all at once is likely the worst-case workload for write performance. But now that I’ve done that, I don’t notice write problems much. I also think I’d probably notice less if I were writing smaller files.
I’ve been using the drive for about 3 months now. While I wouldn’t recommend this as the boot drive on a high end gaming system or developer workstation, I think it would be great in a game console, in a media server, for archival storage, or even as the boot drive in a typical home user’s PC or laptop.
Quibble:
Two of the threaded screw holes for mounting the drive from below weren’t machined correctly. The screws only go in about half as far as they should. My drive trays mount from below, and two of the screws didn’t sit flush with the tray, which made the tray not fit in my drive enclosure. I left those screws out (not a big deal – two screws is plenty to hold this drive in place).

Eski bir cihazı kullanılabilir hale getirmek için uygun fiyatlı olarak gördüğüm bu ürüne yönelmiştim. Beklediğimden çok çok daha iyi çalışıyor.
