I’m using it as a computer monitor and it works great so far. Brightest OLED I’ve ever had

I’ll try to keep this short out of respect for attention spans these days. But the seller, Modia coordinated delivery swiftly. The palette arrived on a freight truck in great condition, but sadly there was an issue with vertical striping in the panel.

This is where Vinny from Modia stepped in. I was uneasy, with this being such a big ticket item, my mind went straight to “is this a scam?” But nothing could be further from the truth! I provided Vinny photos and he arranged a replacement SO fast it darn well made gave me whiplash! Not only did the replacement get here AND had no issues whatsoever, but Vinny provided EXCEPTIONAL communication and coordinated the pickup of the defective unit.

The TV’s on the wall and looks GORGEOUS, and you simply couldn’t ask for better customer service than Vinny with Modia. Exceptional! I simply couldn’t be happier in the service I was provided. (Oh, and the TV is insane as well. Brilliant colors, butter smooth refresh rate. Looks surreal!)

This TV is pretty amazing visually, and it’s a substantial upgrade when compared to my previous LG C1. The picture looks great and it is much brighter than its predecessor!

    There are some caveats, however…

First, there’s the audio dropouts/hiccups, where the audio will cut off for a second every once in a while. The cause of this issue remains unknown, and when I called up LG’s support they recommended replacing the unit since they couldn’t confirm a software fix was coming. Search google for “lg g4 intermittent sound dropouts” and you’ll find a thread on AVForums with multiple folks reporting the issue with different configurations (different soundbars or even cases where there is no soundbar, different external media devices like Apple TVs or Sky Q, and even with the native WebOS applications). The issue is pretty annoying, but I was able to mitigate it by disabling “Quick Start+” — essentially forcing a cold start whenever the TV turns on — and some other setting changes.

Second, I’ve had the TV shut itself down while playing on an XBOX system. This is not a common occurrence, but I believe the TV shutting itself down as a precaution due to the display’s elevated temperature. I’ve measured the display’s temperature at ~91F during normal media consumption (movies, tv, etc) and >100F while in game mode. A TV shutting itself down during normal use is something that should have been caught in testing/QC.

Finally, there’s WebOS itself. The UI is not great. The icons for the applications — the thing you are most likely to use — are tiny and not highlighted prominently. This can be ignored if you use an external device (Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast) for media consumption.

To summarize: a TV’s basic function is displaying a picture and producing sound. The fact that a $4000+ TV can’t perform those functions properly and consistently is disappointing. My replacement unit is working better than the first one, but it has taken some work to get there.

This LG G4 is really really good. Picture quality is the best I’ve ever seen. It also gets plenty bright unlike OLED screens in the past, so watching on a sunny day is pretty much reflection free. I haven’t hooked up my old soundbar yet as I’m happy with the tv speakers, especially the ‘clear voice pro’ setting.

I was hesitant to go with an OLED TV because this room is so bright, but all I can say about the picture quality is: “Wow”! And the audio is clear and clean even when cranked to painful levels.

Setup was easy, no need to open an LG account. I might get another for the man cave.

The picture quality, brightness of everything we have watched and games played has exceeded our expectations!! Intuitive OS. Only thing I don’t like is you have to get an LG account just to download an app. For anime folks Cruchyrool app is available for download. But in the age of smart everything this is not surprising. For the gamers, paired this to an Xbox series X and Starfield is just incredible. This is used in a sunny room daily with ZERO degradation of image quality. Some people harp on the remote. The weight and usability is everything you would expect. Black is black! Any blooming is a thing of the past! If you can swing it, this is the IT TV for 2024!!

This LG G4 is a move up from my LG C1 OLED. The biggest difference is the brightness of the screen and the high degree of contrast between bright and dark images. Watching MLB games is particularly startling as the uniforms are so gripping in appearance for their clarity. Also the details in faces is revealing. As good as the C1 was this is that much better. Worth the cost!

I’m sorry but selling a premium TV and then have all kinds of setting to show you ads. That I a no go!!! Yes you can turn them off. But the fact that it is sold with these setting in on, is a huge disgrace.

Screen picture is really amazing btw
