This is really quite impressive. Most important: it boils its max capacity water in about 4 minutes. If it lasts me a few years through multiple trips, I will be very very happy. The dual voltage is invaluable, especially for anything that generates heat like this (higher wattage than electronics, for example). I haven’t tried it abroad yet, but I’ve ordered a simple plug adapter and remain hopeful.
My most significant complaint, and it is not trivial: The little instruction book is really inadequate. Most notably, getting the handle into position is perplexing. Getting it off and folded “away” is even more mysterious. However, I’ll note that the mechanism depends on pulling on a really tiny piece of plastic. I would really worry about that breaking when everything else is fine, and using this without the handle would be close to impossible. So I will actually avoid messing with that handle most of the time. That is, I’ll avoid folding the pot down unless I must pack it for travel and I won’t even try to attach the handle in its folded position. I’ll leave it loose — in this really really nice, hard-sided case the kettle came in.
That traveling case is called a “bag” in the description, but it is a hard-sided case. That was a total surprise and very welcome. THANK YOU!
I’ve also taken to using this kettle without the lid. This is not a defect, and I need to be a little careful about the steam rising as I pour the water. But with the lid, you can’t see or hear when the water boils. There is every chance that the water will start splattering when you are not watching the kettle. This is true even if you do not fill it past the “max” marking, as I did at first because the marking is not all that visible *AND* the instruction booklet did not mention it. A second problem with the lid (for me): I had a slight tendency to depress the kettle unconsciously as I tried to remove the lid, and that strikes me as even more dangerous. Again, this is not a defect, just a fact of life with a foldable kettle. So there is a learning curve here, with such an astonishing invention. And for these two reasons, I’ll continue using this without the lid.
The “permanent” reusable filter sounds like a nice idea. Virtuous even. But the bottom line is that such filters are a real nuisance to clean with no garbage disposal in the sink. I don’t have one at home and I really don’t expect one in any hotel room (where I *DO* expect that I won’t want to spend another few minutes cleaning my filter and managing the trash). So I’ve already bought and am already using a foldable silicone holder for paper filters. Problem solved.

I work for the airlines and also vacation travel a lot. I carry a small pump-style portable espresso maker for work and when we travel since it’s our preferred caffeine medium. Some places don’t have hot water available in the hotel rooms (no tea kettles or just grungy coffee makers) so this is good for that. It would be overkill for just two espressos but we also travel with a couple of vegan backpacker meals on vacation since my wife is allergic to dairy and doesn’t eat meat and it isn’t always easy to find her a decent meal on short notice. She also has some blood sugar / hangry issues so it just makes sense to have a backup plan for her. This is great for those since they require more boiling water. It packs nice and flat with a nice case. It’s a little heavy but for me it’s worth carrying with me. The handle works pretty well and it’s comfortable to pour. The silicone is sturdy enough that it doesn’t feel like it’s going to collapse at any moment and having the option to use other voltages is really nice in other places in the world. It also boils pretty fast

brought it on a 1 month trip to europe, saved us a number of times when we just wanted to save money and eat in, or have coffee in the room when staying in budget places. It was not light, but was the best option. It heated water fast, very fast with 220 in europe even with a 110 converter, and cooled down fast enough to not be a nusiance when checking out same morning. wraps up nicely and the travel case has enough room for the cord without struggling to get it to fit.

I bought this as a gift for my husband for traveling, since he loves his coffee and doesn’t like most hotel room coffee options. Turns out we both truly love it. We have used it in hotel rooms and in our camper. We are headed to Europe and had planned to bring it along but we have now decided to go with only carry on luggage and felt like it used too much space. It is sturdy and more stable than I expected it to be. It heats water very quickly just like the larger one we have in our kitchen at home. It is easy to pop up and to disassemble and put away. It is very light weight, but in its case it does use a bit of space. If you travel with checked bags it is perfect to pack and bring along. Car travel or camper is absolutely perfect for this size. Plus the color is lovely. It does have a setting for use in Europe with their higher voltage outlets. This is a great gift for world (or local) travelers!

We got this so we can make coffee when on the road, so many hotels now have keurig coffee machines which makes it less then idea to make tea or french press coffee in the room. This kettle folds up very nicely and handle folds conveniently out of the way so that it takes up very little room in luggage.
Easy to unfold and lock handle in place. Make sure the lid aligns via the arrow indicator so that it pours out easily when water boils. Do this before the water boils!!!! Otherwise you will burn your fingers trying to adjust after the fact!
The water heats up fast and the kettle is stable enough. However, the device gets very hot. Don’t touch the top when pouring, as you will burn your fingers. Don’t touch any of the silicon parts when water boils. The kettle is stable enough if you lock the handle in place properly and the lead seals so that you don’t have to worry about water spilling all over the place.
Obviously this is not as good as a home kettle, but for use on the road it really does a nice job!!

Just used this kettle while traveling and found it easy to pack with its own travel bag and easy to put together for the early morning cup of coffee. I am an early riser so hotel coffee is usually available an hour or two too late for me. Very clever engineering. Fast boil time. Note I think it is only large enough for boiling enough water for one large mug of coffee. Recommend it if you like making own hot beverages on the go.

Works like a charm, I like that the handle comes off and it comes in a travel case. It’s the perfect size for one serving at a time, the only thing I didn’t like was that you have to unplug it every time you want to refill it which is a little inconvenient

I bought this little kettle for an upcoming vacation. What I loved the most about it was the hard shell compact case and the portability of the kettle. I, like others wanted to use it in the hotels where we were staying while travelling. When I purchased it, I cleaned it thoroughly and tested it at home…..it worked great so I put it away until my trip. I brought it with me on my trip and used it to make a cup of tea, which I take black. The tea had an odd chemical taste to it that I had not tasted the first time I used the kettle. The next time I used it I noticed that there appeared to a scum on the water and in the tea ( I threw the tea & water out). I believe what is happening (others have mentioned the same thing) is that the silicone is breaking down into the water as it heats up. I’m so disappointed because it is a really nifty little kettle and was perfect for my needs. Not sure why a lot of other folks are not having the same problem, I can only think that there may have been a change in production of later models. Buyer beware

Wow, this is one gem of an item. It is a quality travel kettle. Switching from 110-220V is simply a matter of turning a screw that can be turned with a dime. It boils water so FAST, under 4 minutes!
The features are awesome. Auto-off (switch stays, automatic reheating when temperature drops to 75 degrees C. The base is heavy and the design makes it un-tippable. I like that the silicone is not hot to the touch, even when the water is boiling. And it’s interesting that you can see the water boiling thru the silicone. The lid is solid and stays on water tight so it won’t splash boiling water on your hands or handle.
This is compact vertically, only 2″. But it is a fair size 6″ X 5″ (handle adds the inch) round. The case is nice but when it is in the case it is 8″ X 2.75″. An option is to forgo the case and just wrap it in a towel when you pack.
If you can spare the room and weight, it’s the one for you!

THIS IS A GREAT PORTABLE KETTLE THAT TAKES NO TIME TO SET UP AND KNOCK DOWN .
YOU CAN THROW IT OVER YOUR SHOILDER IN A SMALL KNAPSACK. IT HAS THE SAFETY FEATURES FOR AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF AND AND KNOCK OVER. tHE ONLY THING i WOULD RECOMMEND IS WHEN YOU START UP THE KETTLE FOR THE FIRST BOIL OF WATER, ADD 3 OZ. OF LEMON JUICE TO ELIMINATE THE TASTE OF THE SILICON BODY THAT HAS A MANUFACTURING TASTE TO IT.

Got this to help usbsterilize baby bottles when travelling and so glad we did.
It’s compact and heats quick.
Just wish it had an auto shut off.
