Bought this on June 21st for a 4th of July beach week.
I’ll give it 1 star for delivery but that is where the positives end.
It sat in my house for a week waiting to be used. I got to the beach on June 29th. Loaded the cooler with drinks and ice and started walking to the beach.
Immediately felt something cold and wet on my back. Surely it couldn’t be from my brand new back pack cooler. I looked up to see if water was dropping on me from a tree. Nope..dry as can be so I kept walking.
Got to the beach, set the cooler down and began my vacation. At the end of the day I picked it up and put on my back. The sand was wet under the bag. No way my brand new backpack cooler could cause that. One of the kids must have spilt their water.
Get back to the room and start unloading the remaining drinks. Soon as I got them out and dumped the ice in the sink I Immediately saw a huge rip in the inner liner.. pictures included. Luckily I still have a week on my return.
Normally I would give the product the benefit of doubt and assume I had bad luck. I would send back and wait for a new one.
Unfortunately the beach season is over so if I order a replacement, I wouldn’t use it for almost a year.
Sending this thing back for a full refund.

This cooler backpack is very good! We really like the size / all it can hold. Also very comfortable to carry! Great purchase!!

This product so far is good. It keeps ice packs cold for the whole day. We have not tried regular ice as people had said that it leaked but with just the ice packs, it does not leak. Otherwise the product is great. Keeps lunch cold and you can keep other items in it too.

We boat and camp a lot and we needed something that is also packable for an airplane. This bag is better than expected! It has tons of pockets for miscellaneous stuff so that I don’t need to bring multiple bags with me to store phone, sunscreen, etc. it did not leak through the bottom but I think it could still leak through the top if it’s tipped over but that’s not a deal breaker given all the pockets that make up for that small flaw. You just have to be mindful not to bend over if you’re wearing it. All in all this bag works for our outdoorsy lifestyle and for the price I’ll probably get more as gifts this Christmas.

I can confidently say that the Maelstrom Cooler Backpack has been a game-changer for my grocery shopping routine. With our intense summer heat, walking to the supermarket used to be a risky affair for my perishables. Not anymore!
I add separate ice packs, and this backpack keeps everything cool on my walk home. My cheese no longer melts or sticks together, and my vegetables arrive home looking fresh and crisp.
The backpack is surprisingly comfortable. The design distributes weight well, making it easy to carry a full load of groceries. There’s ample room for a variety of items – vegetables, meats, cheese, and more. I haven’t experienced any leaks, which is crucial when carrying both ice packs and fresh produce.
The Maelstrom Cooler Backpack is a must-have for anyone living in a hot climate who walks to do their grocery shopping. Highly recommended!

This bag is a good price for what you get. It is definitely a bit wider than a standard backpack and has a large capacity, so it is probably more suited for big day trips to Disney/a beach/hiking/ rather than to take a few drinks to a soccer game or something.
Zippers and shoulder straps seem robust and it is comfy to wear even when full. Loads of good pockets also make it ideal as an oversized diaper bag if you need to pack everything that an infant or toddler needs for a full day away from home.

I probably packed his backpack heavier than recommended. It was packed to do it absolute full capacity – breakfast lunch and dinner for four on a camping trip at the beach:
8 cans m
1 lb lunch meat
Condiments
2 pkgs hot dogs
2 lbs cut fruit
1 lb cheese
Tortillas
8 breakfast sausages
Scrambled eggs
Container of guacamole
4 ice packs
4 frozen bottles of water
32 oz ice chips
Paper plates
Plastic cutlery
Napkins
4 water bottles
Picnic blanket
Garbage bag
Phone
Wallet
It was comfortable and even packed so heavily, no signs of tearing. I could barely even find the seams inside. Definitely 100% waterproof. And the frozen water bottles at the bottom of the backpack were still halfway frozen when we got home from camping 40 hours later (without adding any ice). We were in moderate weather, about 68°. I will write another review if I can when I put it to the test in hot weather this weekend. The only thing that I wish it had was a hip support strap. I don’t usually go far with a cooler, so it’s no big deal, but if we were going to take this on a hike with a pack this full, a hip support would’ve been ideal. There is a sort of hidden zipper compartment where the backpack touches your lower back. I thought that was a really cool feature and was happy to put my wallet there. Also, there were a lot of places to put carabiners on which I didn’t do on this trip, but I will definitely do in future ones. I use the stretchy straps on the outside to put the picnic blanket, but I could really see myself using that in the future for things like towels or jackets. It was really handy. And lastly, the backpack looks really nice. It’s a great color and just appears to be very sturdy and well-made. I’m really impressed so far! My husband is a really big guy backpacks sometimes look kind of funny on him, but this backpack fit easily and worked well functionally and aesthetically for both him and I.

I was prepping for a cross country road trip when I was reminded that I didn’t have a cooler to put anything in. I quickly went on Amazon and found this one, thought to myself “Hope this one works, trip is 2 days away” and placed the order. Came in the next day, opened it up and got it ready.
A week long road trip later (stopping every night and putting everything in the refrigerator / freezer) this bag never let anything get hot and go bad. The sandwiches were still cold, the drinks were still chilly, and never had to stop and buy food because of ours spoiling.
This bag has since turned into a bit of an everything bag for me. I take it fishing and use it for drinks and snacks for me and friends while we’re out at the water. Would also be a good bag for the beach, I don’t see too many places that sand could get in a ruin the bag. Very well insulated as well, definitely good to keep things cold for a day.
