My Milwaukee grease gun stopped working after 2 years. I am glad I bought the Makita instead of another Milwaukee. It is built better and the performance is great. The only down side is the weight its heavier than the Milwaukee was.

I’ve been running a Lincoln Powerluber which was a huge step up from hand cranked grease gun. I had that so I never felt I needed to upgrade to the Makita but honestly I finally bit the bullet and I have no regrets. The speed of this pump is on a whole different level compared to my old Lincoln. Another commenter had said the only downside of this unit was you’ll use a lot more grease because its so fast and they weren’t joking, it’s quick! Ergonomically it’s comfortable to carry in your hand, the long grease hose is very convenient and it has a strap you could use to shoulder carry if you want. I didn’t have any trouble loading a new tube of grease and with the vent on top the gun was easy to purge the air out of. Overall an exellent product.

EDIT 10/18/24 durability. Well I drove over it with my Case TR310 skid steer and all that happened was to dislodge the battery hanger from the case a little bit. Took it apart and put it back together. So it’s officially been used and abused.
Definitely a tough tool.
Man this thing builds pressure. If it doesn’t lube what you want. Then you’re going to need to do some work to fix your zerk fitting. You’re going to blow through tubes on a tractor.

I have purchased this product and I have found at this stage no cartridge to fit the diameter of
Chamber.

The product is great.
How ever as it came it would only accept 400gm grease cartridges.
I have now purchased replacement parts to convert it to accept 450gm cartridges ( standard Australian size)

I read all the comments about this auto grease gun. Some say the tube of grease doesn’t fit. Well that is true until you press the tube in and turn to start the treads inside the auto grease gun. You will need to turn your wrist to start the threads. Once started, all is well. As for as priming the unit goes, you will need to bleed the air out of the unit to get it to prime. Since I have primed the unit the first time, I have not had to prime it again. When the grease tube is replaced the unit picks up where it left off. .My dozer takes 2 tubes of grease to go all the way around it , so, I’m very happy to have this baby in the tool box.

So, first order of business is it it sturdy and well constructed. Good job Makita! But in actual use, it was not very friendly. I have work arounds, so please read though! The first complication was that the cartridge wouldn’t seat all the way in, which made setting the screw cap an unnecessarily tedious task. The second fail was in the bleeder valve not letting enough grease out, even after a minute , sometimes, and so the grease would quit at 2/3 full. Move that to a manual gun, and would grease till empty. I wanted to send it back as defective. If you have had these issues, try this:
1) take a razor or box knife and cut 1/4″-1/2″ off the bottom of the grease tube, after you pull the plastic cap off the bottom. Seats perfectly every time!
2) completely remove the brass bleeder cap, and remove grease til it pops. You can use that little ball of grease for whatever, but now the gun will empty the full cartridge. Makita engineers, please take note!
Anyway, I am now fully content with this gun and would highly recommend it, subject to those two aforementioned caveats
