Slide is less than desirable, but valves worked well. Be aware valves are left handed. I bought it for valve trombone ability and I a.m ambidextrous…no worries for me playing in a church band.

The trombone looks really nice and the slide works well enough. The valves, on the other hand, have been problematic since the beginning. The first two function well, but the third valve has had a hesitation coming back up since day one. I used some of my brothers trumpet valve oil on it and would work for the rest of my practicing, but would be very stiff after it sat for a few days of not being touched. Today I tried to play it and the third valve was completely seized. I could very carefully remove it, but no amount of oil will make it move smoothly now. Also, the clamp that’s supposed to hold the lead pipe in doesn’t work. I’ve tightened it down to the point I’m afraid I’m going to break something, but the pipe still slides out with very little effort. FYI-I’ve been playing trombone, euphonium, and tuba for 45 years and have cleaned and oiled many a valve, be it piston or rotary. I purchased this instrument because I tore my right biceps a few months back and don’t want to aggravate it, but still want to play.
