Stina Garbis –
We got this little beast right before the first heat wave of summer for our bedroom. Keeps us cool at night and gives us a nice hum of white noise. It took two people to figure it out and install it. After we laid all the pieces out the directions made more sense. Usually we turn the cool to max level 7 to turn on the condenser and keep it on low cool and it chills our smallish master bedroom very nicely. A couple of complaints though. Water does pool in the back of the unit outside the window and i wish there was a drain plug or a hose to use to drain it. The plastic window curtain that fits around the unit is a little flimsy and doesn’t make a seal. We actually duct taped around it. Fabulous I know but when it’s hot I will pull out the duct tape. Once winter hits in Oregon we will take it out of the window. But we have really appreciated it all summer long.

In a small bedroom, it’s very cold on the highway setting and isn’t so loud I can’t sleep with it on.

I bought this for a small bedroom and it works great. The set up was very easy, even in our home with very old windows it fit perfectly. I installed it myself with no help. It cools the bedroom fast! We use the fan feature as well just for air movement and it’s great. It’s as quiet as you would expect a small AC unit to be! Recommend!

MIDEA MAW05M1BWT Window Air Conditioner, 5000 BTU: This unit is a nice small size but it is rather noisy. It is significantly noisier than my older, similar sized Forest Air A/C unit (be prepared to turn up the TV). The User’s Manual covers several models and shows a remote control; however, this small model does NOT have a remote control. It has two control knobs on the front: one knob for temperature and one knob to select Off, Fan or Cool (Hi or Lo). The unit monitors electrical current and there is a breaker button on the power plug that cuts off the power, and a reset button that turns the power back on.

Sorry I could not set my own temperature, but it does give me 7 points on a dial to select. Would buy again.

Works really well.

The a/c is very easy to put together and in the window. The unit has mechanical thermostat and fan hi/lo cool hi/lo switch. I was very surprised to see how well it cooled the bedroom. Good air moving fan but not to loud. The compressor is quiet. I’m impressed. It is doing a great job for the money. Thermostat works very well. Keeps humidity down pretty well. Seer 11

As someone who typically dreads manual labor, this was incredibly easy to install. So far, this little unit has kept my 450 sq ft studio very cool in the Southern California heat. Naturally it’s a bit louder than central air (think hotel AC) but you get used to it quickly and the pros far outweigh this tiny little con

I currently live in the top level of a duplex built in the early 1900’s. That being said, there is essentially no insulation and being on the top floor, my unit gets HOT. For my bedroom and the living room, I purchased two Midea U Shaped units that have worked wonders, but my spare room/workout room/office has been so hot these past few weeks its been unbearable. The temps hit just under 90F and I couldn’t even run my computer without overheating it in the room.
I snagged this 5000BTU unit and I couldn’t have been happier. Being that its so small and tiny, I didn’t have to worry about breaking my leasing contract by drilling holes into the window frame. Even still I purchased a universal screw less window AC unit mount frame that works well too.
The room stays incredibly cool and this little unit pushes out ICE COLD air! My CPU temps at idle went from 48C to 34C. I can workout and I don’t even sweat. I am beyond thrilled with this little unit. The true test will come when summer comes into full swing and we get the sub 100F days, but so far this thing is kicking butt!
So happy with my purchase thus far.

This A/C unit works well, but it does not have any temperature indications on it. Cooling goes from “more cool” to “less cool” like a refrigerator. If you want to set it to 72 degrees, there isn’t a way to know exactly where that is on the dial.
I purchased this unit to fit an 18″ window on my shed. The product description states that this A/C will fit a window that is 23″ or wider, but the dimensions of the unit itself are much smaller than that. Like most window units, this A/C has an “accordion” piece on each side which seals against the window frame. By cutting off some of the plastic frame on one of these pieces, I was able to easily make it fit my 18″ window, and it could probably fit windows that were even smaller, perhaps 16″ or narrower.
Overall, the unit works well, and cools my 10×12 shed (120sqft) acceptably, even though it is not insulated and is poorly sealed. I’m happy with the unit for the price that I paid.

This AC worked out great for my son! Nice and small, simple to install in the window, and blows out some awesome cold air!

It’s true, you get what you pay for. If you want a very quiet, easy to use, remote control/app friendly air conditioner, get the u-shaped Midea. This one here is for those who want to save money and that’s it. This thing is noisy, unattractive, has no remote control or app capability – you can’t even set a temperature on it. It’s just “less cool” or “more cool.” It’s a bottom of the barrel option. However, it does work. I have to turn it off for conference calls because it’s so loud, but at least I’m not sweating.
