Two weeks in, this box is doing a great job running as an OPNSense firewall. The N100 version with 8GB/256GB, running the full set of AbuseCH, ET Pro Telemetry, and OPNSense IDS/IPS rules is idling at 25% RAM utilization and 1% disk utilization. CPU utilization has not risen above a few percent in normal usage, and rises to about 25% CPU and 60% RAM utilization with heavy traffic. Still plenty of headroom, and really not all of those IDS/IPS rules are necessary in a home network, if any.
The WiFi interface is not used in this configuration, so I cannot speak to that, but it is recognized.
The WAN / LAN assignments are made “backwards” from what I consider the standard of having the WAN on the left and the LAN on the right, but that’s a very minor thing and it can be changed easily enough if someone cares.
By default the box will not boot without a monitor attached, so be aware of that if you plan on using it “headless”. There is a BIOS setting and/or a couple of workarounds available on the Interwebs.

Just stopped working after 3 months. Was working one minute. I tried to restart it and the blue light on the power button wont come on. The network port on the back lights up. Doesn’t boot or post. Other reviews and forum posts indicate it might be due to cheap power cords minis forum includes. Have to drop 20$ on a new cord i guess. No idea if that will really fix the issue yet. In the mean time my home network is down as this was my firewall box.
I guess it worked fine up till now as a firewall. Nothing heavy runs on it just pfsense.
Edit: i checked the power supply and it’s sending 12.5v as it should. So something else is wrong. I’m returning this or something. I cant recommend this product. Its mf first and last mf product. So much fun when you have kids and the internet goes out for a day.

Good unit. The Amazon.ca listing info is incomplete, visit MinisForum website to view the full details. Unit comes with Windows 11 Home preinstalled, VESA mounting plate and hardware and a HDMI cable. Really pleased with the unit so far. Gotta hit the delete key to get into the UEFI/BIOS 🙂
With the dual 2.5G ports, it’s perfect for a x86_64 router!
