This is a nice lyre harp. I purchased the “wood” stain and is it beautiful. The strings settled after 3 tunings and now it stays in tune longer. The sound is light and sweet.

This is not my first lyre harp, but is certainly the nicest, so far! It checks all the boxes – smooth edges, solid construction, string holes at the back are evenly spaced and smooth. Unlike a previous lyre I owned, this one held its tuning after 3 days of gentle tuning.the strings are spaced far enough apart that it can be plucked like a harp, without fear of fingers touching the adjacent strings. The tone is lovely, not too loud so perfect for meditative playing. A pickup can be attached to the back if a person wanted to play through an amplifier. Would definitely recommend this instrument.

I’d never played the lyre before picking up this one, but I love music and I thought this would be a fun and interesting instrument to learn. This instrument is beautiful and feels very well made. The green stain is a lovely emerald color. The notes engraved into the instrument are pretty bold and easy to read. I’ve practiced this quite a bit and haven’t had a single string break.

This lyre produces a beautiful sound. If you like the sound of a harp, this sounds nearly identical. There are many different play styles for the lyre, which makes this a very interesting instrument to learn. You can choose to focus on a single play style, change it up and try out others, or some combination. I love how much self expression the lyre allows.
I will warn that this is tricky to tune. From what I have gathered, this is the same with any lyre, but this does not have a fine tuner. If you want a similar effect to fine tuning, you can tap the top of the tuning tool when it’s on a peg for a similar effect. I haven’t owned another lyre before, I’m not sure if it’s typical but the pegs can be somewhat difficult to get into the tuning tool, and do sometimes slip out. I’ve gotten the hang of it now, but it was frustrating at first. You’ll want to tune this each time before playing, but it takes less tuning over time. I personally use an online keyboard to tune it to and it works great.
The manual included wasn’t very useful to me personally, but I prefer to learn from video tutorials. There are many great tutorials out there. I even found an entire youtube channel for tutorials on how to play various songs from popular pop culture media. This has definitely been the easiest instrument that I’ve learned thus far! If you have experience with instruments like a guitar, this will be a breeze in comparison.
Overall I love this lyre. It also looks pretty as a conversation piece as well! I like to keep it out on the stand I got for it (just an adjustable guitar stand) both because it keeps me motivated to practice and because it’s just nice décor.

Made well! My wife loves to play with instruments like these and while she has small hands, this instrument fits comfortably in her hand as she plays notes. The notes, to my ears, sound bright and clear, but if tuning is needed it does come included with a tool to adjust.
Love that it comes with extra strings and a case to keep the dust and humidity away from it.

I’ve never played a lyre before, though I do have experience with other plucked string instruments, and I think this has a very interesting sound. It’s also very easy to play, especially with the engraved labels (in the key of C) as a guide (this also assists tuning, which you will have to do many times). The instrument seems well made, is sturdy in construction and comfortable to hold, and has a beautiful shape and finish. Plucking chords (3 to 5 strings at once) almost gives the instrument a “choral” sound, which is very cool and unusual. It has a good range to play most songs.
My only issue with the instrument is that tuning it is a bit of a pain — it hasn’t held its tuning for any stretch of time yet. The first time I tuned it, I tuned it six times in a row and some strings were significantly off by the end. I tried again weeks later, and it held tune slightly better, but still was off again by the time I finished tuning all the strings; after the last strings, the first strings were off anywhere between a half and a whole tone. I tried to account for this by tuning them sharp, which helped a little. This made my first attempts to play a bit frustrating, but hopefully if I tune it every day for a few weeks, it will start keeping tune for more than two minutes — and then I can try actually playing something on it, rather than just messing around and wincing whenever I get an off string.
There is a major design flaw in the case, though — it’s sturdy enough overall, but the mesh pouch that holds the tuner, packet, etc. is positioned at the bottom of the top half of the case, but this topside is supposed to flip up, which then dumps all the contents onto the lyre, risking damage to the instrument. This would easily be solved by a velcro or zipper fastener/closure to the pouch. As it is, the case should be opened branding side down (lifting the side with the instrument) to prevent possible catastrophe. Overall, though, this is a beautiful and unique instrument, and a good addition to any amateur musician’s collection.
