I was wary of this after reading some reviews but I’ve had great luck with it. It is VERY lightweight, but I like that because it can be moved easily. It doesn’t seem sturdy, but it does the job. I’ve had it for a few weeks thus far and it has not fallen over once, even with my books on it. Yes, I said bookS with an s. I’ve got two violin solo books on it right now and it’s standing up just fine, not wobbling or anything.

Very easy to put together, easy to adjust, and for the price it can’t be beat! I definitely recommend it to anyone who needs a good stand for practice but doesn’t want to spend a ton.

The ad for this music stand is misleading because it doesn’t say it is only a sheet music stand, which is clearly stated on the box when received. The adjustable tilt “bookplate” will not support even the smallest of books, so it is useable only for a few sheets of music without the tilt mechanism collapsing. I have even inserted two rubber washers on the hinge for the bookplate as some buyers suggested and it was no help at all. This music stand should be clearly labeled for light sheet music only.

This is a good, cheap stand … I honestly don’t know how they could even make any money after shipping it. Sure there are stronger stands out there but, this is just right for certain projects. As you might have guessed … I don’t even use them for sheet music! Quality materials, light weight and if folds completely flat … very cool!

If you put a book or anything too heavy on it, it will topple. And the shelf that the papers are supposed to sit on is too small for half of my guitar tab packets. I would spend a little extra to get something a little more heavy duty next time

This was purchased as a gift for me and I really like it. I use it in my room as I don’t have a table (and shouldn’t be practicing slouching in bed anyways).

It holds pieces of paper just fine and it even holds my copy of Scots Guards Volume I. Thus far it hasn’t collapsed yet, but I can see where it would. Thankfully I have lots of tunes on paper and smaller books.

I like how well this folds up. It goes pretty small and is easy to figure out. It will also stretch out quite tall, though I think once you get above normal sitting height it may lose balance.

I believe there is one of these stands on here that comes with a carrying case. This one didn’t, but considering it lives in my room it doesn’t need one.

The biggest thing it’s done to date is travel to Indiana in my suitcase. It didn’t get used, but it didn’t take up any important space at all.

If you are looking for a foldable music stand, I think this is the one. It’s easy to use, lightweight, and pretty affordable. You probably could get a better stand and spend more money, but if you’re putting a lot of emphasis on price, then this is it. I don’t know how it will hold up to heavy use, but I don’t intend on using heavily so it’s perfect for me.

This is an excellent music stand and an excellent value. It is better quality than the pupitre black music stand I bought ten years ago, but still roughly the same price. Easy to open and set up, it is of pretty hefty build and solidity for a portable stand. The structure is impressively heavy and sturdy feel, and the folding music perch is not flimsy; quite the contrary. It will not be as solid for heavy music books as a heavy-duty solid steel stand, but if you xerox your music onto sheets, it will be perfect for holding the sheets, and there are nice chrome music sheet braces which fold up to press down and hold your pages. I will update my review if there is anything to add after using this for a while. All in all this is a great value product.

I’ve had my share of portable music stands. I’ve never had one that was as flimsy as this one. First, the metal is easily bent. Particular weak spots are the neck where the stem joins the head, and the legs themselves. I would say that anything heavier than a couple of pounds would warp the stand. Additionally, while the lightness of the stand should be a plus, it means that it’s very easy to tip over. All you need is an accidental brush of the arm (happened, as I play the violin). Finally, everything, from the tilt of the head, the length of the stem, and the extension of the legs is secured by friction (screws tighten the hold). I don’t know if this is typically a good thing or a bad thing, but sturdier portable stands I’ve had had levers that clicked into place when the legs were extended. Considering the softness of the metal on this stand, I don’t think friction fits are a good long-term solution to securing components.

Other than being light, the only other plus I give this stand is that at least it is balanced. Putting a pound of paper (or binder) on the stand won’t cause it to tip over due to the sudden top-heaviness.

I like the construction of the stand: sturdy, convenient, portable, but without the carrying case, I simply asked for a refund and replacement order, hoping the carrying case comes with the replacement. If not, I’ll give up and return it. Waiting……
