has a pleasant smell and is easy to apply.

I bought this for my couch and based on the price I made an assumption about size – this container is good for taking care of a few shoes and bags – but you need a much larger container for furniture!
Kris –
Bought this to bring some shine back to some old boots.
It was easy to use, water resistant and did bring some durability and life to my old worn friends. Good value for the money

Used to condition old Barber strops works great.

Otter Wax does a great job of renewing the look of my Blundstones. Works much better than the Blundstone cream. Only negative comment is that the container is smaller than the size posted in the ad. Apparently this is common with this product. Contacted the seller – Otter Wax, they blamed Amazon and would not send me the proper size.

I got the Otterwax Leather Salve because I had accidentally stripped my boot’s top coat of polish and needed to seriously moisturize the leather before adding more protection. I applied it pretty heavily and let it soak into the leather. After the first use, I realized that doing this during cold months is probably not the best time. You want your leather goods soft and warm. This way the leather soaks up the product. By the second application, I warmed up the boots form the inside with a blow dryer. The leather soaked up a good portion and after brushing and hand buffing, left a very suttle luster. reminiscent of satin. It took severalcoats and buffs and recoats to get the boots back to looking good. After about 4 applications, I then added regular polish. Because of stripping the original top coat from the boots, I don’t know if these many applications would be typical, but it did save them from needing to go to a pro for reconditioning. This product will not give your boots a high shine, I would even say not even a mid shine. and I was not looking for that, I wanted a very subtle buff shine, like what my black boots had when I brought them home from Tacovas. I have since applied this once more to clean them, and i absolutely love the look of them once cleaned and brushed. The smell of the product is also very nice. If I used leather gloves, I’d be sniffing my hands all day long.

I have both an old pair of Florsheim oxford brogues shoes that have been sadly neglected over the 20 years that I have owned them. I also have a newer causual/hipster tan brogue that has only the front finished and the remainder colored but otherwise unfinished. I purchased the leather salve to revive the old and to protect the new pair. I washed both with saddle soap and dried, then applied the Otterwax leather salve and allowed that to dry. Both the soap with its oils and the salve darkened the leather but not too much. The salve itself goes on smoothly, was readily absorbed by the leather and had a pleasant fragrance. A little does go a long way. After letting it dry and buffing off the excess both shoes looked great. The leather looked nourished and smooth, and the old cordovan brogues came to life. I followed with a treatment with the Otterwax leather oil and allowed that to absorb. Honestly these shoes didn’t really need wax after that. The tan shoes lightened up after a day or so but remained supple. The old shoes got a good waxing and look great. Now they clean-up well and take waxing readily. I now use the leather oil on all my shoes the night before I wax them. I highly recommend these products. They are nice to work with and really do the job. I am going to test the salve out on my ageing leather recliner next. P.S. I have no idea why the Amazon review form asks shoe questions and yes I have a lazy dog! P.P.S.-I did try the salve on an old recliner and It worked great. Really brought the leather back to life. It took two applications but the leather is soft and pliable. Definitely worth using this stuff on any leather goods.

I had a Black Leather couch that has experienced 3 cats over time. The product made the scratches hard to see and moisturized the leather. While you can still see the damage, it’s not obvious and the leather is nice and shiny. After applying and letting it sit for about an hour, make sure you buff out. The shine will reduce but the leather will look good. Well worth the labor.

As per the instruction, after the leather absorbed the wax it became cloudy so I used a soft polishing cloth to polish it for half an hours and it still look cloudy/ fade out. Will be getting a horse hair brush to try again.

Love this stuff! I ordered a can with a pair of Thorogood 8″ Moc Toe boots in the classic tan. I used it on them before I ever put them on and this stuff barely darkened them, if any at all. Since then I have used this salve on a pair of 2 year old Ariat Ramblers that I had previously been using Saphir Renovateur and Frye Weather Dressing on but those darkened the leather into a solid ugly brown with no depth or grain definition. I first used saddle soap to remove the old dirt, wax and conditioner from the Ramblers and let them dry. I then started putting this Leather Salve on with my finger tips and while it still darker the leather a bit, most of that faded after it dried and after the first wear it lightened up even more. This stuff is just the right balance of wax and conditioner, just enough to keep the leather supple to resist cracking, while adding a thin layer of water resistance, without over doing it on either front…not a high shine and not a soaked mess on the conditioning front. Highly recommend for casual leather footwear. It’s also worth noting the smell is quite nice to my senses as well, not strong by any means but a nice hint of citrus. Will definitely be buying more.

Easy to use and it made my full-grain leather purse supple. Echoing with other reviewers, use it sparingly. There was slight darkening of the leather after this cream but totally worth it for the awesome results!
