Outin Portable Electric Espresso Machine, Travel Coffee Maker

I bought my Outin on a whim as another option for making regular coffee while I’m out camping or at an event away from home and don’t always want to go find a coffee shop in the morning. I have an Aeropress, which does make good coffee, but I’m also lazy and liked the idea of not having to time anything. Just push a button and go.

I haven’t even used it for espresso. I just grind regular coffee beans and then add extra water when it’s done brewing. I do have a travel kettle that I use to heat water so I get the most out of my Outin, but in a pinch, it also does a great job heating and brewing (but they aren’t kidding when they say it eats up the battery. You really only get a few uses before you need to charge again, whereas if you add already hot water and directly extract, you get a TON of uses before you need to worry about charging).

It’s incredibly easy to use, makes good tasting coffee, easy to clean, and so nicely convenient when you’re out and don’t want to have to hunt down the nearest Starbucks to wake up in the morning. I’m pleasantly surprised with how well it works and how durable it feels.

I ended up buying the bigger basket for it, which makes it easier to dump the coffee grounds in. The little basket that originally comes with the Outin is small, so make sure you have a spoon or something on hand to scoop your coffee or you’ll end up with a mess.

If you’re looking for something convenient in a small package for coffee while camping or traveling in general, consider getting the Outin. Yes, it’s more pricey, but so far it’s been working well for me for numerous extractions without any issues and it allows me to be lazy and get a good cup of coffee with barely any work. To me, that’s worth it.

Back during covid I gave up buying coffee on the road; I just can’t justify spending $3.50 for crappy, watered down brew. I bought a car kettle thermos and had kept a jug of water and half a dozen Via instant coffees in the car. It worked well enough, but instant coffee – even Via – is so deeply unsatisfying.

Ho comprato questa macchinetta per l’ufficio. Ce l’ho già da tre settimane e funziona benissimo. Faccio due caffè al giorno e consuma due tacche di batteria. Si ricarica al 100% (con due tacche spente) in un’ora più o meno. Sabato e domenica a riposo con piena ricarica e il lunedì ha perso circa mezza tacca ma fa i miei due caffè divinamente. Uso le capsule in alluminio della Kimbo e il caffè è veramente ottimo. Non è il miglior caffè che abbia mai bevuto ma sicuramente uno dei migliori. Cremoso, corposo e non acidulo. Credo che il problema riscontrato da molti con le capsule dipenda dal tipo di capsule che si usano. Bisogna scegliere quelle in alluminio non in plastica. Sono diverse anche di forma e, forse, le lamette alla base dell’alloggiamento della capsula non riescono a forare bene quelle in plastica che proprio in quel punto sono molto spesse. Anche nella parte superiore, vengono forate benissimo e, sinceramente, non è affatto complicato toglierle. Forse, se si tolgono appena dopo l’uso potrebbero essere molto calde e quindi scottare. Io aspetto che si raffreddino. Il mio dubbio è il calcare, il serbatoio sul fondo già è bianchino… immagino dentro e penso che prima o poi creerà problemi. Il secondo dubbio è la batteria, spero che duri. Per me è perfetta e non ho problemi a caricarla. Certo, se dovessi fare cinque, sei caffè al giorno o di più dovrei aspettare una ricarica completa almeno. In fondo, è anche un ottimo alibi per gli scrocconi “mi spiace, la batteria è scarica” 🙂
Aggiungo che il colore è stupendo, la confezione di gran lusso e le istruzioni precise. La struttura e gli accessori sono di qualità decisiamente superiore. È un gioiellino molto bello, leggero da portare, lo infilo nella mia borsa pranzo e via. In più, il servizio Amazon è stato impeccabile come sempre. Davvero molto, molto soddisfatta, ottimo acquisto che consiglio.
