I am very pleased with my cello which was a surprise 2010 Christmas present from my husband. It has a lovely tone and the price made it affordable for a first cello. My son, who is a music teacher was happy with how it sounded and was helpful with inital setup. Because, like all string instruments, it needed some adjustment time, I had 3 strings break in quick succession(within the first ten days). This was scary but has resolved. During this time, I found a violin shop which helped with my last string and advice. Just this week, this shop made a new bridge for this instrument and replaced the tailpiece with a German-made tailpiece with better fine-tuners. I am more pleased as this made it easier to play and tune. The original fine tuners did not work well(so I just tuned with the pegs – no real problem). All this to say that the sound is very nice and the price allowed me to begin learning the cello. I love to play and average playing/practicing one to two hours daily on this instrument.

We had to have work done on it before it could be used.

This is a poor quality instrument, not worth half the money. I had to return it because it was impossible to play..

We bought this at tax time 3 year ago. It is very pretty and was not scratched or damaged at the time of arrival. Now, in 2013 we say we have had a couple issues. First that almost immediately we had to replace the strings, those were terrible. After replacing the strings we were very happy with the sound. Then within the first year, the bridge fell off and had to be re-glued, that cost us about $70. Most recently was that the seam at the bottom popped and also needed to be re-glued. We have not actually gotten it back from that process yet, but lucked out since my daughters music teacher was able to do it for us for free. I would have to say that this is cheaply made, but totally worth the cost for a young (new to playing and young people) player. I would by this instrument again in a heartbeat for someone who needs time to learn how to properly take care of instruments but still wants their own. 4 star only because of the few (easily fixed) issues we had.

I ordered this cello for my son, he has learned to play cello for one year, since he is ready to play with full size cello now, so I bought this one to replace current rented one. As always, I went to Amazon first. The shipping was fast, and the cello was packaged well too.

The cello body is better than we thought based with its price, we replaced the string as other customers recommended. But we found the cello could not hold the tune because of the low quality pegs, we had to keep tuning, and one peg was quickly broken when I was tuning the tone as normal.

I also wanted to mention that the bridge is too high to hold the strings, its base was too thick. The bridge needs to be replaced, the bow is not good either, it’s very hard to play with.

Overall, this cello is built with low quality parts, additional several hundreds $ just for parts replacement will be needed if we keep it. This grade cello is not a right one for a middle/high school student to play with.

we returned this cello, have to keep renting previous one till we purchase a full size one with really good quality. We are expecting Amazon sell better quality cello!

I have music experience with piano, guitar, and a little bit of cello. This cello is a very good one for a starter.
I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the bow is not good and the fine tuners are not well done. The tip of the screw on the lever for A string move out of its position when I tighten it, and make it quite hard to turn the screw back. This cause some problems for fine tuning.
    * you might have to re adjust your sound post because it might fall off its position during transportation.

Bought this for a friend, expecting it to be a terrible $400 joke of a cello. This was not the case.
The bow is terrible, get a new one immediately. The cello is beautiful and sounds great, but if you want better quality, new strings wont hurt. The cello it’s self surpassed $1,200 cellos I tried out in stores. Overall we were both very pleased with it. The only reason that it is 4 stars is because the bow is almost useless and the strings could be better. Definitely worth the buy, however.

It’s been about 4 months I bought this for my son. He only used few times. However, it seems good. I know very little about Cello. So, I can’t give much info on how good it is. But, I can say it stayed the same since we bought it. One thing we had trouble is after tuning, I had to push the pegs in to the holes with tremendous force to keep it stuck there. Otherwise, it rolls back due to string tension. I do not know, if this is the case with other cellos too. My son is pretty good with the ear on music, I believe he was tuning it fine, rather than it mistook on that so we are tensioning the strings more than needed.
Anyways, just wanted to say, for the money paid for it, I’m happy with the instrument.
But, also wanted to mention that, as going by the previous comments, I also bought a new D’Addario Helicore string set which was $125.
The thinnest string which came with the Cello, anyway broke while tuning, so I think a good string set is a must. My son says the Bow is good enough so, he’s using it. I’m hoping he finds it god enough for at least one year, before ( if ) he thinks he wants a better bow. Hope these comments help some one like me, who read a lot of previous comments to make my decision on buying a cello! πŸ™‚
September 2019: now it has been 3 years, to the Cello. It worked great. I must say my son didn’t use this much though. He had one given to him from the school for practice in the school. So Cello is just like as we bought yet.
